Default MY JOURNEY BEGINS

After realising that I could not loose weight on my own - and having tried all the others - only to end up fatter, sad and more anxious than before - and I'm not getting any younger - I came across Cohens. Call it fate or coincidence - I call it a miracle. I have just begun my journey to a more healthier, slimmer me!! I have lots to loose, and I'm not proud to have allowed myself to get to this size. I have been following the forum for about 3 weeks now and I see a wonderful community of encouragers who inspire and support each other. This is day 4 for me - so far so good, am surprised that I'm not feeling hungry - although my friend who is also on Cohens told me this. Looking forward to my first week - do I get on the scales or not.....I just hope I can keep going, I usually get to a stage of loosing about 15 - 20k then give up, so I know this will be my crisis period. Just one day at a time.

You were right when you say its a place of encouragement and support.

Many Thanks Connie!

I've had a couple of goes with the ticker - my daughter and son are over later today - I'll get them to show me how to complete it!

Hey LadyJay,

Welcome...you definitely have come to the right place. So you started 4 days ago...fantastic. You are already on your way to a new you.

Weighing is a crazy thing. I am a daily weigher as I believe many of the folks are on this forum. There are for sure some though that weigh weekly, bi-weekly and monthly. I guess you just have to find what is right for you. Daily weighing is not for everyone...you need to be strong sometimes to get through the results.

You are really going to love this diet. It is not like anything else. I have never been able to stay on an eating plan like this with no deviations...and I am proud to say that I am in my 8th week and have not deviated once. Well, thanks in much to the support of this forum.

You will do great and I'm looking forward to reading about your journey and watching your ticker head South.

Cindy

Welcome, Ladyjay. You're right, this forum is so supportive. Just keep us up to date and you'll receive support and encouragement through the difficult times, and through the triumphs. I haven't found anyone on the forum older than me. I've tried so many diets and started this one saying it would be the last one I'd ever do -- whether I succeeded or I failed. I'm determined to succeed this time, have just broken through the point at which I gave up last time. After 40 years of dieting, I've finally realised that, for me, the secret is not to deviate at all and I will get there.

I weigh daily. However, if you are going to weigh daily, or even weekly, you can't get discouraged if your weight doesn't change, or even goes up, between weighings. I'd suggest you do weigh at the end of the first week, as it will give you a boost to see that you really are losing weight. In the unlikely event that you haven't, read your book again and check with your clinic because you probably won't be eating exactly what you should. After week 1, decide how often to weigh in future.

I look forward to reading of your journey over the next few months.

AJ

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Hi Cindy!
I'm still here!! I'm really, really, happy with my progress. I haven't weighed myself - my first weigh in is this Thursday. I have been taking my measurements and the first two weeks I lost a total of 36cm - the third week showed a good loss too but I'm worried that maybe I'm not measuring in the right areas. I thought waist was around the bellybutton area, but I notice on some websites its between breast and bellybutton, I know the breast area, which is around the nipple area and as I have loose skin around my arms, do I pull the tape firm, same goes for hips, and thighs are easy. I'm doing things that I would have struggled at before - and my clothes are much loser...yipeeee. We have just come back from a weekend away in our caravan and little things like climbing in and out of the narrow doorway and this time our little tinnie (boat) was level in the water rather than nose down...hehe When I'm game I'll post some photos = my consultant took photos on the first day and I will take over from now on. Thanks again Cindy - I'll get busy and start my diary soon!!

Congratulations, Cindy. Sounds like you are doing really well.

Re where to weigh, I look for the biggest measurement for hips, bust, etc, and the smallest for waist. Probably better to pull tight rather than loose as the tape stays in place better. What's important is trying to get the same place and same tension each time.

Hey Janette...glad you are doing so well.

I can't tell you too much about the measuring as I think I did it all wrong to begin with and I can't even remember where I measured the first day...so I have been avoiding it. I'm really disappointed that I did that wrong so I recommend you writing it down. Wherever you decide to measure try really hard to remember and keep measuring the same place...as AJ said. You will really want to get it right.

Can't wait to see you results on Thursday...sounds like the weight is falling off so far. YEAH!!!

Cindy
