When do you weigh
Hi all, I was wondering when do you weigh yourself (morning of evening) and do you weigh with your clothes on or just a nightdress on?

I weigh both in the mornings when I wake up and after i brush my teeth and pee/poo-ed. I weigh myself when I am home after work and before i sleep. Quite obsessive.

Hi DP, I am also obsessive with weighing. It keeps me motivated. I try and weigh in the same weight clothes so there is not much fluctuation on the scale.

I weigh first thing in the morning after toilet with no clothes.
DP - you realise your weight can fluctuate quite a lot over the course of a day? I can weigh a few hundred grams more just after eating breakfast. It's not really accurate to weigh yourself so frequently and you are more likely to see a gain at the end of the day than a further loss |

I weigh first thing in the morning, once a month, naked and after my first piddle. I was an obsessive weigher BEFORE Cohens and found it so liberating NOT to have my whole day take a negative turn JUST because of what the scales said!! I know IF I stick 100% to the program, then in that months time I have the certainty that the scales will show me what a success I have been. This works for me. Don't know how I am going to go on refeed where you have to go back weighing EVERY day again. Time will tell. Good luck with your journey. Everyone finds a slightly different approach that works for them. I always weighed more at night before Cohen's. Must have to do with your water intake etc.

I try and only weigh once a week, first thing on a monday morning, in a light dress (because I live with family) and after my first toilet stop Tho this week I have weighed every day because I really want to get to under 95 by Monday

This is a tuff one. I am with everyone else - Mornings are when you weigh the lightest. so once you have gone to the toilet weigh yourself then. I always weigh in my PJ's cause its the same clothes each time. That way it is accurate.
But as for this obsession with the scales... Never thought I would want to jump on the scales so much. For the last 20 years scales were the enemy and now we all want them to be our best friends!!! Cohen's tells you to weigh once a week. When I started the program I was like "yep no worries I can so do that". Now it is like if I dont jump on the scales at least once a day I think I'm gonna go mad. My clinic says not to become too obsessed though cause its not all about weight but your measurements too. |

Weighing in the evening even after an hour or 2 after supper can give you the wrong weight. I have been weighing morning and night and noticed the difference. I weigh in the same clothes I wore when I weighed at the clinic, that way I know if Im losing or not. Without the clothes (only a light dress on) my weight comes down about 200-300g. I also go mad if I don't weigh atleast once a day and I dont get upset anymore if the numbers dont move down I just think of it as Im losing cm's.

Hey Battler - you are the first person I have come across who only weighs monthly as I do - mind you I am wavering but haven't succumbed yet.
For the record I weigh in the evening because that is when my starting weight was done - and as it is monthly I can't remember what I wore so must write it down next time! |

I weigh myself every morning after the loo with nothing on! I guess it's worth mentioning that you should be consistent in times of what time of day you weigh yourself and what you wear as this always impacts your weight!

I too am a daily obsessive weigher. I find it motivates me. I weigh myself every morning around the same time after the loo stop and with no clothes.
I use the morning weigh in to motivate myself. |

I weight myself in the morning as soon as I get up.. this is the reading I record. But I do weigh myself at night before I go to bed as well- just for fun. I just find it amazing how much you lose whilst you sleep!

I weight myself every morning after I peed and with only my nickers on. Sometimes I do what healthy and happy does LOL. Weigh myself right before going to bed and be amaze at how much one can loose overnight! :P

I weigh every morning as soon as I get up, after toilet and no clothes. I weighed myself every day of losing almost 40kgs. I maintained for 2 and a bit years, and then lost focus. When I didn't weigh every day, I started to lose sight of my weight, and gained. I particularly took my eye off the scale from August to December last year and gained about 7kilos in that period. So, I'm back on the scales every day. I don't mind if the scales show a gain. If I know that I've been 100% on plan, then it's just water retention, and it'll shift soon. A daily weigh keeps me focused and helps me to maintain.

hey all, i too weigh only monthly and it is soo good. I am no longer afraid of them. And since being on cohens I have allowed scales in my house. Previously I was never letting them in my house, years of abuse! The longer you leave it the better than number, just have to have faith in what you are doing. try stringing the weighs out and you will feel great

We have a health check thingy at work on thursday which includes, blood pressure, sugar, colesterol and bmi. I tried to work out this morning what the difference is between my first thing in the morning after pee and being naked weight, and then after breakfast and my breakfast 750ml of water and fully clothed as I will be on Thursday. The difference stunted me, it was 1.7kg, so I will never again weigh myself any other time except in the mornings naked. At least I know that is going to give me a consistent result.

I weigh weekly first thing in morning. I use the Wii Fit. It tells me my BMI also.

Does anyone know how long your food takes to hit the scales? I thought what you ate wont register on the scales for a couple of days? Does that make sense?

hmm, H&H not sure about a couple of days, weigh yourself one morning before breakfast and then again after, there is a significant increase in the scales. I tried it yesterday morning, first time I did it I was naked and hadn't eaten, second time I did it I had my yoghurt and 750ml of water and I was dressed I was 1.7kg heavier I think it was, so then I took my clothes off, they weighed 800g. It stands to reason if you add mass to something it has to increase its weight instantly. The amount of time that the bad food that you eat takes to turns into stored fat could be what you are thinking of, but then again I don't know the answer to that question. I will leave that up to the more informed amongst us.
