Calling all Maintainers - join us for NO-vember!
Maintenance is a tricky one so as a bit of fun, motivation leading up to (for some of us our first in Maintenance) Christmas, we are having a NO-vember challenge. The idea is a bit like a Deviation Free challenge but YOU set your own rules It's really simple - just pick something (or things) that you will say NO to in November - for the whole month. The idea is to pick something you struggle to resist or that you know makes you gain weight. We will have a reward along the lines of the Dancing Mangoes for those who successfully complete! So if you would like to take part, please post below telling us what you are going to say NO to and if there is a particular reason, why Please post back each Sunday or Monday to tell us that you have said NO all week!!! Please spread the word to the other maintainers out there to join in jlou |

I will kick it off...
I will say NO to: LIQUORICE - because I seem to turn to it when stressed and eat the whole packet and it DOES affect the scales and ALCOHOL - because a glass of wine or 2 (3,4...) are becoming part of my routine and I want to retrain myself. I think my liver will be grateful to have a month off too particularly as we are going wine touring in January! I am keen to see if by saying NO to these things I can get the extra off and also get closer to goal that I never acheived |

Hi JLou, i will join you on this one. I too want to ditch the alcohol (wine) and say NO, NO, NO, as a form of self discipline cos i can!
I am also choosing to restart my Cohen 100% program on 1st NOvember and i am doing that as i am inspired to complete a 40 day plan called The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren, a book i bought at Hillsong Church in Sydney in Jan 2006 but never got past half way thru, feels like its "time" and so 40 days (almost 6 weeks) 100% Cohen will go nicely there. 10+ kg might just disappear in the process! So my 3 commitments are: NO to alcohol NO to all deviations and YES to 40 day Purpose plan! I love it! Pandora |

Hi Jlou, great idea !thank you. I will stay away from lollies and bought biscuits all November. I am not able to eat only one as they set me off so I will have none. I also love liquorice especially Liquorice Allsorts, and jaffas,and pineapple lumps, and milk bottles,and chocolate caramels, and, and, and .......... SO NONE FOR ME FOR ALL NOVEMBER !!!

May I join in? I am hoping to be back at my goal by the beginning of december and the things that keep calling me are chocolate and nuts. So far I have not had any but this may give me that extra motivation to resist. So for me no chocolates or nuts!! |

Good idea.
I'm giving up excessive yogurt and fruit, by which I mean I will have no more than 250g yogurt per day and 2 pieces of fruit. Yes, these seem like strange things to give up, but I find I'm not temppted by the "bad" stuff but by too much of the "good" stuff. And too much good stuff can be bad. Guess I'd better eat a lot of yogurt and fruit today! |

Just jokin' HOW MANY CAN I CHOOSE (I mean how long can a post be!!!!!!). In NO-vember I WILL say NO to: 1. Eating home made baking (including taste testing and bowl licking). If I do - I become an alien like train wreck devouring all carb and sweet food before me 2. NO LOLLIES/SWEETS (except chocolate IF it is part of a dessert like dark choc mousse). 3. NO bought biscuits/cakes. AND 4.NO sex LB X Good luck everyone (actually it's NOT luck at all but strength and commitment) KIA KAHA Be strong

NGU - just needs to be one thing you will decline - a specific thing is more realistic than a whole food group (and more maintenance learning too)

Hi everyone
I would love to join this challenge and be deviation free for the month of November. I'll be taking one day at a time and sticking to plan. As you can see from my ticker, I have allowed my weight to spiral out of control by not completing a carb reset, no exercise and not being cohen friendly. Thanks for setting up the challenge Jlou

Isn't it wierd how it's easy to resist if it's a challenge/rule, but not if it's a choice? Maybe I need to add more rules to my maintenance rules!

Gezzzz guys NO 4 was a joke.....well maybe...?? I can feel jlou's headache coming on! So far baking/biscuits/lollies FREE.Woo hoo for me. I totally agree with your post future FYM. Especially for "control" types like my good self. Have to chuckle at your maintenance mantra, in light of your comment!! LB x PS - if I was having dessert and choc mousse was an option (and I precarbed - that would have to be a good choice???right????)
