Default BUY NEW CLOTHES NOW !

I wonder if any of you are a bit like me and go around still wearing slightly baggy clothes rather than buy some in the next size down? I have a short story to tell that may encourage any that do that to invest in smaller clothes EVEN if they might not fit you for long. Yesterday i had a bad day as i wrote about in my diary. As i was weighing in at the clinic and i didnt want to wear heavy clothes like jeans, i wore a pair of Slazenger black stretchy gym pants with a red stripe down the side. I have been wearing them on and off (of course!) all winter. Anyway, i was feeling fat again even tho i have lost 7.5kg in 5 weeks. I also felt as if i was dilusional and that i hadnt really lost weight after all and even tho my tummy is A LOT smaller, it just seemed to be sticking out to me! It was like wearing some kind of negative cloak all day and i just couldnt shake it off and as i also wrote in my diary, i even gave in to the feelings of being a failure and had some wine!

Anyway, today i got up and had to get ready quickly to go to college. Put on my NEW SIZE 10 jeans that fit me where they hit me, together with a tight black T shirt and my high heeled boots and you know what, i felt like a million dollars again! Kept checking myself out in the mirror and i reckon i look like I've lost MORE than 7.5kg - i feel like a whole new person NOW that i have new clothes that show off my shape. And yet, these size 10 jeans will be way to big when i get to goal with at least 8 kilos to go. Another six weeks max and those size 10 jeans will have to go! So its worth it to update your wardrobe around every 6kg mark as that usually means you've dropped a clothes size.

The moral of this story is i AM NEVER WEARING THOSE make me feel fat pants ever again! They are gone and so had the person i was that wore them. What do others think about this idea? Pandora

Pandora,

What a great idea !! The emotion holds the key, I feel, and I can imagine just what a new SLIM pair of jeans can do to help you feel good (keep those emotions riding high). Mirrors really CAN be a friend, can't they

And I DO love your final quote - woohoo, go girl, you're a winner.

I hear you Pandora and have to agree.

I have never or should I say not for a long time worn clothes that fit because I didn't want to show the world what size I actually was. Now I have to look in the mirror the longest time to check out who that really is because I didn't think that I would ever again look like this. But guess what - it is me.

Another thing is that the mirror I'm talking about was in storage because I never wanted a full length mirror in my house. I didn't mind looking at my face but the rest of me was way out of the question. Ok, now I look often.

Hi all

I haven't had a lot of time to catch up on all the new peoples on this forum but welcome to you all .

I must agree - buy new clothes.

I have always worn baggy clothes to cover the extra sized rolls - was a size 24-26 but having lost 30kg's i finally decided that all the 'chubby' , loose fitting and way oversized clothes just had to go. And of course as soon as i put on the size 16 jeans and t-shirts everyone noticed how good i looked. It helps boost the confidence especially when you do feel down or tired or wanting to pick at the wrong foods

I haven't bought too many things - just enough to get me through. So get into your wardrobes and get rid of the chubby clothes and treat yourself!

All the best

Pandora you are so right. Wearing the right size clothes while we are slimming is an incredible inspiration (even if you go back to trying on your 'fat' clothes every now and then just to see how far you've come) which is what I do.

I have to admit that I am 'in hiding' from some people though - my mother in law to be quite frank. She is a dietician and there is no way that she would approve of cohens. Lucky she has been too busy to visit and I will be going away soon. I feel that I don't need a confrontation with her on this topic - it would really be an affront to her - given that she is a specialist in her field and I am contradicting what the 'good authorities' tell her to preach.

But I am pleased to show off where ever I can and have been eyeing off my old size 10/12 wardrobe for what is yet to come.

Hi Jackie,

Sorry, but I HAVE to ask "Why not?"
Quote:

Isn't Cohens advocating eating "good food"? But in controlled quantities?

Now, if Cohen was saying "eat one Big Mac per day" then I could understand the disapproval.

Interested, so what more can you tell me,

Koh

Koh, good question. Thanks for asking, now I can formulate my response to my mother in law while explaining this to you. Reasons why MIL dietician would on cohens:
1. It doesn't follow the food pyramid ie. the amount of carbs you need to eat
2. The rapid weightloss (it should be smaller and over a longer amount of time)
3. Using insulin, hgh and seratonin results to formulate an eating plan
4. Not having to exercise if you hadn't started exercising prior to Cohens

But you are right, there are a number of things that are great that she would approve ie. the controlled quanties and fresh food imperative.

I used to think that anything that allowed you to lose weight as fast a cohens must be a farce, bad for your body and mind. But I have been proved wrong. I hope to reveal the truth to my MIL (who I get along famously with) in due course. Will let you know the outcome.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for the answers and I am pleased to hear that you and MIL "get on" generally.

Woohoo !! Bottle that feeling, girl, and it will all work out for you. I'd guess you and MIL might have some VERY interesting chats once you are done.

The food pyramid that the majority of us have grown up with is soooo wrong it's not funny any more! Look at the major food that's meant to be consumed on the bottom. It's all carbs!!! Anybody who persists with that theory really need to start looking around them at all the people who are eating those carbs and are overweight!

Good thread Pandora
i totaly agree. I was hiding my fat rolls in bigger clothes all the while. getting jeans in the relaxed fit so the waist fit. Well no more.
I buy regular fit now and do they fit. I had always hated baggy clothes still do. I was buying a few smaller things as i lost and would use them as a gauge. As my jeans got baggy i bought smaller ones. Just a few to "Get me by" So i could work into them it kept me motivated.
Today my mom got up here with a friend who hasn't seen me since last deer season. Mom not since mid-August. She was totaly amazed. She was like your face don't look like a football (I thought geez thanks mom) You look like you again. She was trying to figure out who I looked like in the family. Then decieded I just looked like me. The friend said when he rolled his window down"Where's Karen? then "Is that you?" You look great. And I was in baggy jeans and a sweat shirt that hung to my knee's. Whatcha think he will say when/if he see's me in my "tight fittin jeans"
I don't hide in big clothes anymore i show off the new me that isn't done yet. So buy them new clothes even if it is at a thrift shop. That's what I have been doing with flannel shirts and sweat shirts.
Pudge

Hello Koh, thanks for the confidence boost!

Hello Magenta - you are so right about the pyramid. I think that the 'authorities' don't want to admit that they are wrong and therefore keep pushing the carbs. But, hey, as long as we keep following the programme and show others the fantastic results we are experiencing, then we are the winners and grinners. Especially when we wear those clothes that actually fit

I haven't seen my mum since two weeks before I had my now almost 4 year old girl, and I'll be seeing her in 7 weeks. I was 110kg when I had my girl, so mum's only seen me *big*. Hopefully I'll be another 10kg down (from now @ 98.4) when I see her.

I've bought some clothes a size down from what I am now as inspiration and motivation to keep going! I've already dropped a dress size since I started and my pants are starting to fall off me, so I'm looking foward to getting into the new ones I bought!

Magenta I know how you feel - I havent seen my parents for about 6mths and I'll be seeing them at Christmas (they live in another state), so am hoping to lose at least 10kgs by then!

With the number of new readers, I figured this GEM (thanks, Pandora) was due for a "bump" - go to the very first post, and check it out !! Enjoy,

Koh

PS For new readers, "bumping" means replying to a post, to bring it "up the top" and be seen again, rather than becoming "lost" on the second or third page of entries.

At the end, after refeed, don't just buy new clothes, get your colours and styling done.

That way everything you buy will make you look absolutley sensational (not just sensational), be cost effective, match with everything in your wardrobe and be worn lots and lots!!

I just want to add to "buy new clothes" that it is good to "give away/ throw out the old clothes". I don't want to have to wear them ever again. I'm already fitting into my old clothes from a few years ago. It does feel like I've just come back from a shopping spree (and at no cost). Looking forward to wearing more archived clothing items.

Every Monday night is now our "Wardrobe Turnout Night"! Hubby and I are discovering clothes (not that we have that many!) that are slowly moving towards that day when we can wear them. Tonight my first item that I can now wear is a pair of 3/4 track pants, great for the hot days and nights and will be good for a few weeks.

Seeing I haven't hoarded clothes I think I will be running out of the old gems...I only have size 20 and some size 18's seeing I always get rid of clothes that don't fit (every year or so I do that) so once I move into size 16 I am going to be in trouble...I WILL have to buy some new clothes along this journey. Hmmmm could get very expensive but well worth it I guess

I'm the same Hexi. I'm ok now and the next size down, sort of, but that's it. Once I get to that point where my trousers are falling down once they're pulled up, I'm going to have to go clothes shopping. I'll really be looking out for the bargains!
