Default Calling all kiwis

A couple of us chatting through our diaries, would love to know who else is "out there" in forum land from GODZONE.
Some of the Aussies have had "coffee catchups" and had a great time, perhaps, if we are not all over the place, we could do the same.
In some items, our food in NZ is different and it would be great to discuss brands etc.
Don't we love to win anything V the neighbours over the ditch, so perhaps we can put out a challenge........
Any thoughts appreciated.

Very funny Mcpsych! and good on you Jlou, you can be one of us and come and eat our good fish and Kiwi fruit.Still plenty of Jafas here but you can't have them yet.Not even in recovery, remember it is tough love here.
I live on a farm in an area that probably isn't on too many maps but the main towns which are both about 40 minutes drive from me in different directions are Invercargill and Gore.Okay Gore is fairly small but it has great character! I have two sisters in Christchurch and sometimes I go there via the east coast and sometimes via the west coast and I go up to Central Otago sometimes so is anyone from these areas?
It would be nice to know how many of us there are here.

Hi
I'm in ChCh. Day 4 today and I just resisted two bowls of chips and cupcakes! Feeling sort of proud but Day 4 irritated. Can't I just go to sleep and wake up thin - please!

I am in Christchurch. Would love to meet with anyone else in town, or passing through. I am on day 3 and surprised at how easy it has been so far, expected to feel hungry and maybe have headaches. Is day 4 usually a challenge? Got a busy day tomorrow so if it is, hopefully that will help.

What a great idea Ladybird
I too would love to catch up with some fellow Kiwis in Christchurch - maybe once a month. It would be great to talk to others who know "exactly" what I am going through.
Wingama and Cathbug I don't know if either of you are interested? We seem to have a bit in common re age, weight and start date.
Or anyone else in Christchurch?
If anyone is keen, let me know

Woo hoo there are some of us out there. We will just have to have a "nice cup of tea/coffee" (and drool all over the muffins and yummy food) catch up in Chch in the next few weeks. Lets get some responses as to the best day - ie during the week/or weekend and time of day - morning/afternoon, after work etc.
Lets look at the 2nd week of May - Mon 3rd - Sun 9th (is that mother's day??)
LB x
Hi Jlou - I'm originally from Auckland too but have settled in Chch via the UK and Gold Coast.
M&N - when are you next visiting your chch sister?????
OPPS - forgot to say Hi and Welcome to the ladies in their first week -
and MARK - please note that I have ignored your "TACKY" pots comment....but are you old enough to remember back to 1985 when a young kiwi fast bowler ripped the heart out of "the greatest ever" Aussie cricket team in a test @ the Gabba (9-52 and caught the 10th!!!)

As I am a caterer I will just have to play it by ear on whatever day is decided upon, as to whether I can make it or not. Sunday mornings are definitely out for me as I do all the food for our church cafe and help with serving in the cafe after our morning service. Other days just depend on what bookings I have.

Hi LB,

I loved this one :-

Must admit I don't recall that either, but one I DO recall is the "oldie but goodie" which (during the America's Cup races) went something like :-

"Why do Kiwi racing yachts have glass bottoms?" Answer is "So they can keep an eye on what the Aussies are doing !!" (You must remember THAT!! It followed after the Aussie yacht sank!!)

Ha ha Koh - great stuff, I well remember watching that race and the aussies being pulled from the water. I don't understand why kiwis remember all these things (SO CLEARLY) and yet our kangaroo eating bros across the ditch conveniently "forget" so much.
I have just had a flash.....of a rugby league game last year (maybe 2yrs ago now? - altzhimers is kicking in) in Brisbane - when the kiwis beat Aust to WIN the World Cup!!
Now that is a great one as we were never really good enough to do it, but pretty cool to beat "the best"

In case you can't tell - my house is a sportsman's paradise - very handy for Quiz nights.
Now...... what happened to the where are the kiwis thread?????????.

PS Koh - re the Gabba test match in 1985, the bowler was our greatest ever legendary Richard Hadlee. It was AMAZING to hear 60,000+ aussies calling him a "w - - - - -" at the MCG that summer (as he became the player of the series)!! - no class eh

Hi Winghama
Eek - yours is a "dangerious" job for one on a diet. How do you manage taste testing your food?
I'm pretty certain coffee catch up won't be a Sunday. I'll wait for a few more responses and then try and co-ordinate.

it was a compliment to Sir Richard that the Australians were so scared of him they had to get the entire crowd sledging him in the hope it would put him off. I reckon it would have spurred him on more!!

I've heard him say that he took more wickets v Aust than any other country, so it must have spurred him on. Funny how the mind works - when we are told we can't do something some of us pull out all stops to prove people wrong. Much like dieting I guess and especially those who have tried "everything" to loose weight before.....Cohen's to some (non- Cohen's and some sceptics on the diet who have a negative mindset) would be just another diet and they are setting themselves up to fail.
NOT this baby - I will do what I have to to make this work for me
