Default Sugar Substitutes

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone recommends using sugar substitutes (e.g. splenda or its kind) when baking once we hit maintenance? Or are we better off just using 'real' sugar and limiting portions (which I would of course do anyway!)?

Thanks
