Just a question - did your body tell you when to start refeed this second time? Or did you just start it when you hit your goal? I am wondering how this will be for me this second time around and when to start refeed

Love your positive attitude, Kristine! You're making me regret that I won't be in the country for a while, because it sounds like it would be a great time to buy a house soon. Hopefully it'll still be a good time when I come back.
Almost at the end now! Keep up the great work!

Dear Diary
Refeed Day: 15 Refeed Start Weight: 60.00 kilos Today's Weight: 61 kilos (9&Half Stone) Feeling: Good Well, the Birthday Party caused me to weigh 61 kilos today So I am ignoring yesterday as it was not the refeed program which caused the fluctuation, but the party. I am treating today as Day 14 and repeating Day 14. I am confident that by doing so I shall end refeed at 60 kilos. I won't have bread or wine today, as I ate extra bread at the party and had more than one glass of wine, plus icecream Birthday cake and a fruit salad with all sorts of Bad Fruit in it. It was fun, lovely to see the family and to admire my Niece's lovely new home, but as with most food there was nothing really worth the extra day ... except the social aspect of joining in. Even though the family are now used to my slimness, there were still many positive comments about how healthy I looked, and I wore a size 8 tailored, fitted top in a bright patterned fabric with many buttons and a 'Chinese' type collar. The last time I wore this top I weighed not much more than now but it was stretched - at 60 kilos it sits the way it was designed to do. So redoing Day 14 today and will finish on Tuesday. Hexi, I wasn't hungry but it had taken a week to lose 250 grams, so I figured that was a good indication that 60 kilos is my optimal weight. That I had held steady at 60 kilos throughout refeed (except for today) probably supports that this is a good weight for me to be. Being in the right frame of mind is what this is all about. I 'had' to go back onto the full program because I could not deny the increase in weight - 15 kilos is a bit hard to ignore. Fiddling about and pretending to be on the program would not cut it. I had to be committed to achieve the result. Mette, having started in real estate in 1975 and lived through two recessions and now this third one which is shaping up to be a depression, there is never a good or bad time to buy property. Every person has an individual time clock, whether that be to lose weight, buy property, or whatever. I hope to make progress with the properties this year as the last couple of years have been years of distraction - I was distracted to do other things but what really works for me is 'buy houses, make money'. I forgot that it is that simple, and complicated my life by going into business and all the angst that employing people involves. And believe me, it is more angst than pleasure but I have only myself to blame. I though that I had learnt that lesson but chose to ignore it, to my peril. So lighter, older and wiser, bring on 2009 and the undoubted challenges it will present but hopefully I can keep my eye on the ball and not be swayed by tempting promises or other people's agendas. All that glistens is not gold. OK, where's the canary, where's the candle! Watch me go back down the pit, I'm going mining!!

Dear Diary
Refeed Day: 16 Refeed Start Weight: 60.00 kilos Today's Weight: 60.25 kilos (9&Half Stone) Feeling: Good Today's Menu: Reduce Old Protein (minimal) Maintain New Protein (mixed) No Old Vegetables Increase New Vegetables 2 Bad Fruit 3 Bread (had 1 Bread, 1 Salada, 1 Wine) 1 Carbohydrates 2 Plain Biscuits 1 Butter Milk can be exchanged for some of the Old Protein. Today I was back to 60.25kilos and decided that was enough, so today was Refeed Day 16 and the end of the program for me. It has been a wonderful journey. It has taken 120 days and I am quite happy with that. Certainly, a lot longer than I had planned, but I was the spanner in the works and created the delays myself. However, I don't mind that it has taken longer. I feel good, everything has shrunk back, and being on the program for a couple of weeks more than planned has done me no harm at all. In my opinion, the key to success with this is to commit yourself to it. It is not good playing with it. In fact, we could do ourselves harm with an on again / off again approach. Certainly, we bore everyone around us witless and depreciate the program if we don't take it seriously and give it the respect it deserves. During 2007, when I pass the 3 kilo margin, I played around with it. Yes, I would lose a kilo or two then forget I was 'meant' to be on the program. I was worse than someone on Weight Watchers with their constant dithering about what they 'can' have and 'can't' have. In a way, it was a relief to hit 75 kilos. Now I could get down to business. No more 'Two Week Sprints', 15 kilos was serious business and had to have committment. Now, back at 60 kilos, I promise myself solemnly that I will not, under any circumstances, go over 63 kilos again. It really isn't worth it. Perhaps I am jaded, but the food on the program is just so nice, and when I have eaten other things eg at Christmas I have wondered why I bothered. Most food is fairly ordinary. I know what chocolate tastes like. It actually smells better than it tastes, ditto with most useless food. My plates of yummy Cohen's food have been like nectar, always welcome, always good, and never bad for me! Tomorrow I start maintenance. No more weighing, no counting anything, just sensible eating with a few simple guidelines. In February 2010 I shall still weigh 60ish kilos. My aim now is to weigh 60ish in February, 2011. I am sure that I shall.

Dear Diary
Refeed Day: 16 - Complete (Today Day 17) Refeed Start Weight: 60.00 kilos Today's Weight: 60.00 kilos (9&Half Stone) Feeling: Good So today I weigh 60.00 kilos. Yesterday was the last day of Refeed. Today is the first day 'out in the wild'. I can't see that my eating patterns will change much. I like the food that I have been eating. I'm not in any rush to go back to eating stodge. Thanks to everyone who has called in to my Diaries. Hexi, now that you have decided to give it another go, you will romp through it and enjoy the journey even more than the first time. Mette, thanks for all the posts you have made in everyone's diaries. The recognition and encouragement we give each other is very important. Our actions are not invisible. Our efforts are witnessed, which gives a reality to what we are doing. Best wishes to all for your continuing progress and in maintaining a healthy weight in bodies which we love and respect. OK, off to open a Maintenance Diary. See you there! |
