Default What 'kicks' you back into action?

I'm so curious to find out what 'works' to kick you guys back into proper eating again? This just might be something worth finding out and see if it can help those who struggle kickstart their programme?

For me, nothing beats the following:

1) bursting my existing clothing - I refuse to buy new clothes / upsize as it only encourages me to expand sideways hence right now I know I've hit all my limits.

2) Get into a clothes shop and having the assistant telling me that a particular size I've chosen won't fit me - in short "you are too fat for that piece". That is enough to kick me into action.

What about the rest of you?

The clothes definately do it for me - as does too many kgs on the scales!

That truly disgusting 'belly on the lap' feeling

I can disguise the muffin top, or even the '7 month pregnant' profile (to a certain degree), but when it is just me and the belly on the lap, is when I have to be honest and admit that I am truly appalled

Dear God, I hate being obese / over weight / just plain fat!

There is absolutely nothing whatsoever nice about it.

The next six kilos should see the reduction and lifting of the belly bag, hopefully for the third and final time!!

Cheers
Kristine

Kristine I TOTALLY agree with you here, this was my BIG turning point .. my stomach starting to hang down like some sort of padded apron ..... urrrgggh.

Thankfully the worst of it is a thing of the past. I still have tummy to get rid of, but it no longer rolls the top of my undies down for me

So this was definitely my 'kick back into action' ... where enough was enough!

For me the realisation that I no longer want to go out, that I've lost my party girl smile and the enjoyment of the weekends is gone.
I dont know how it happens, or when it happens, but when I realise that I am saying no to going out because the clothes I am wearing dont make me feel cute, I know it's gone too far.
Making the decision is the easy part, the hard part is getting it moving again!

When there is a ring around my middle just above where the jeans sits.... I hate it when it blups out instead of being straight (even if it is little one)....
When my clothes feel uncomfortable and when you have to drag and pull on your clothes all the time.... wah...

It has been years of the same signs for me so now I don't want to get to those signs because it is the slippery slope that leads me to the same place as Doing it for ME has been- not wanting to go out and not feeling happy with myself! So as soon as I start kidding myself that having a chip or a chocolate wont hurt, I know that is the sign that I'm kidding myself if I think I wont end up having another chip, another chocolate and then next thing I know, I don't fit into my clothes! I threw out all my big clothes (except one pair of pants, it reminds me of what I was) so I intend to NEVER have to buy bigger sizes again!

Don't think I saw the signs this time around so still working it out - clothes definitely make a difference (I think I still kept just a couple of larger items and bought some new bigger jeans when I just couldnt get back on the wagon) - will read others posts with interest and see if anything helps - another thing for me though that slowed the process of gaining was the majic numbers - 70, 80, 90 - and keeping on thinking about what I started at stopped me reasonably short of that mark finally (and realising I'd gained back more than half what I lost) - just don't want to go through this all again and again!

cheers - Kay.

ah - and another realisation - just read doing it for me's post - I think what finally stopped me recently was seeing a couple of people I worked with when I got to goal two years ago and havent seen since and realising I was going out of my way to avoid seeing and speaking to them - that sucked as a feeling!

I'm starting again for the 2nd time as I am not going up in clothes size because that just makes me get bigger and I'm not doing that again. I am fining it very hard to stick with but I have to stay focused.

Hi all,

Many find the "Getting back on the Bus" thread is a catalyst, but, though an enjoyable read, it doesn't really get into much detail.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to stumble over a series of posts that complement the "Back on the Bus" thread. It actually names the "suspects", and adds extra "what to do" and "what not to do" information.

So, today, I added it as another Classic, thus it can be easily be found - but, just for you, here's the link :-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12914

As well as adding such value, it has the special Namaste brand of humour too - thus it is an enjoyable read.

Go on - click the link and enjoy !!
