Default French toast yummy!!

French toast yummy!!

Recipe Description
Lovely cohens friendly French toast with " syrup"
my new favourite and bf loves it too!!
Ingredients:

Preparation Steps:
1 egg
1-2 crisp bread ( I used salada)

1 sweetener
1-2 teaspoon with pepsi max
Level of Difficulty:
Easy
Time Needed:

Serves:

Instructions:
Beat the egg in a bowl.
Put the crisp bread in the bowl and let soak for 1 1/2
minutes.
Heat up frying pan with some canola oil.
Put the soaked bread in and pour on the rest of egg evenly
over the bread.
If the egg runs out on the side use a spatule and scrape it
on the bread. Turn the bread over and do the other side.

"syrup"
use a cup and mix sweetener and a teaspoon of pepsi max (
probably works with any diet soft drink )
pour over your finished french toast

was thinking about putting some cinnamon with the egg next
time.

Hope you enjoy!

Hi Bonnie!

sounds great! Just check your plan - Pepsi max is actually not allowed (only the diet one)
I'll try it soon!

Hi greeni!
Thank you, I thought so too but double checked with my clinic and she said it was fine, wich I am SO thankful for! I can't stand diet coke anymore.

I made this on Saturday and it was really nice, tasted like real french toast, only thinner.
Didn't make the syrup though, had it with tomato.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bonnie

Thanks for this recipe

I whisked the egg, crumbled up the salada and kept coming back to it and squishing the mix a bit more every few minutes while I prepared some veg (mushroom, tomato and zucchini)

I cooked the veg a bit in the frypan under a tagine lid (bought a tagine over the weekend, great! Can hear the steam hitting the base so you know what's cooking, good looking!)

When the veg were coloured I pushed them to one side and poured in the pulpy egg mix.

Viola! Frittata!

Really enjoyed this - next time, will do apple and the 'toast' with cinnamon. May need to find an unsalted crispbread if adapting as a desert - have you tried this with a rice cake? (No, I haven't but may well do so!)

Thanks again. As you can see I didn't do 'French Toast' but I did a veg frittata which I would not have thought of doing if I hadn't read your recipe!

Cheers
Kristine

I made this for breakfast today,I think next time I'll soak the crackers in the egg over night, or a few hours before as they seemed to take a while to soak up the egg.. however it was lovely!

I have just finished my silverbeet with an egg cooked on top, slada on the side, if I had read this recipe first I would have tried it, sound very yummy, will have to try it during the week. Like the sound of it with the apple.
