I have completed Cohens in 2009 (57kg) and have reached 60 as maintenance. I love the quote given here by ''Yoda"
It is so true that other peoples negativity is so detrimental in all spheres of life, and it requires a certain strength to have the mind power of continual positive thought. For this reason, I value the ability to visit the forum ever so often! Forever a proud 'Cohenite' |

Re: This forum has hidden gems
Wow - well, a WHOLE lot of water has passed under THIS particular bridge, hasn't it?
I have been AWOL for some time, but am back (sort of) for a wee while. This morning, an old friend typed some of her usual sage words, which put a big dopey grin on my face as I realised just how right she was. You know the kind of dopey grin that says "Of course - why didn't I think of that?" And what were those words? Quote:
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...500#post446500 Of course, most of you today will have already read Kristine's Diary - this entry is more for those "coming behind" who may not know Kristine, but will hopefully find this GEMS thread at some stage. Hence, we will bring K's diary to THEM !!! Rock on Kristine.. and the rest of you too. Lunch on Kristine's words, and realise just how wrong most of the world has got this "exercise vs weight" thing. And how wrong it is for the Biggest Loser TV program to have grossly over-weight people putting their skeletal structures at risk doing exercises that are best suited for people who are not carrying excess weight. Anyway, certainly while on Plan, DO NOT exercise any more than you used to (even if you FEEL lighter and are bouncing off walls) as you aren't eating enough to sustain exercise as well as your core body. Leave the exercise until you are DONE with the Plan and can add a bit more carbs to give you extra energy. Of course, once you are at goal weight, have completed Refeed, and are now eating enough to handle it, by all means DO join a gym or whatever. I would think some of those Zumba classes would get the old heart pumping, and it would seem like fun rather than a chore too, wouldn't it? Koh

Re: This forum has hidden gems
Who is the smartest puppy in the world?
NOT Koh !! Why? Well, put simply, some months back I highlighted a post that was raved over by several Cohenites. At the time I first read it, I popped a link into the Maintenance Discussion area, as the topic was all about how to do a Reset the RIGHT WAY, and how the wrong way will lead to weight gain. I then patted myself on the back and went on my way.... It was only this morning, as I linked someone else to that super-important information, that I realised this was indeed a GEM - and bloody well DESERVED to have a place right HERE !! Here's a teaser:- Quote:
....and grateful thanks to Stumbling-Sammy for providing that bright shiny gem !! I hope her words put a sparkle in YOUR day, Koh PS But wait - there's more - SO MUCH more..... When checking out that link, DO keep reading the replies - in some ways they are almost more important, as it shows we MUST share this data far and wide - here's one reply that hit me:- Quote:
I wonder how many have been de-railed through lack of knowledge of THIS particular piece of advice?

Re: This forum has hidden gems
Today I was just following my nose after referring someone to the "Back on the Bus" thread - and it lead me to a total GEM provided by Asy herself. In that post she talks of the ORDER in which your body uses up the fuel you provide it.
It goes in a specific order - with sugar and starches right at the top. In essence, if you eat lots of sugar or starchy foods, your body uses them as fuel, but if too much "left over", it stores them away for a "rainy day" in your hips, thighs, belly, wherever..... Having provided the order in which your body uses the various fuels, she then says this "the whole idea of the programme is to get your body to burn your own fat stores up. If you keep feeding your body starches, how can you expect it to burn the fat?" How indeed - fat doesn't get burned if other fuels are available more readily - like the food in your stomach. It is by eating just enough of the right foods (on Cohens Plan) that your body needs to "go looking for more fuels" and will start to unpack the fuel from your cells to utilise. Feeding yourself more starches shuts down the whole "unpacking of your fat cells" - here's Asy's quote again "If you keep feeding your body starches, how can you expect it to burn the fat?" Go to this link to read Asy's words, and the replies from several other Cohenites after learning of this:- http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...716#post102716 And Asy, you're a Gem !! But then, we always did know that, eh? Hugs, Koh

Re: This forum has hidden gems
Wow !! (Cough,cough...) There's so much dust on this thread - it's been on the shelf far too long.... (sneeze...) Ah well, I'll soon have it shipshape again - I have to, 'cos today one particular member's musings impinged on my thoughts, and had me break into print here.
This lady has a very interesting diary - I'd always thought that as i read it from time to time - but today, she knocked it out of the park as she starts Refeed. Here's what Donzie said here http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...534#post449534 :- Quote:
Thanks for your diary thus far (I heartily recommend it to any members who are looking for a path to follow) - here it is for those who want to check it all out. http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20592 Donzie, there's just one word for you - you're a GEM !!! Regards, Koh
