Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hi Carienne_c, absolutely and welcome! In addition to what your weight is today we need
Cohens Goal Range: Your personal alert maximum (ie: within 3kg of your top cohen goal range or a close figure to that that is a boundary line for you, your call and like Jlou often can be your bodies call) Weight today This way we are reminded weekly of any breakouts of dietary choices and reign the extra kgs in quickly and develop life long success of weight maintanance. Welcome officially also to Mumandnana. Yahoo - great to have you joining. Yep 50kg is fine as your personal maximum if that is what you choose. Narelle

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Well here I am having to follow through on accountability and not so excited today. After being in Sydney for a work conference and being caught in the virgin airline dilemma and staying an extra 2 nights a blow out occured. Hence todays results are not pretty and I am wishing I had another day to minimise the obvious hay day I had down there. Right down to desserts and lollies (mainly to keep alert during lectures, my excuse any way and basically sitting around eating food waiting & eating & waiting for flights. So for my results:
Cohens Goal Range:C 58 - 61 kg Your personal alert maximum: 65 kg Weight today 65.7 kg So I cant hide, have to be honest and recitify the damage. Choices Narelle Hate having to put that ticker up! Grrrrrrr

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hi Narelle
Look forward to posting here next week as I tiptoe into maintenance. So glad that you are all remaining accountable and showing us that we can't go back to our old eating habits. Would be far easier to slip off into oblivion and pretend it was all OK. You guys are awesome and an inspiration. ff |

Morning ff. Twil be great to have you join us next week. Tiptoe gently as the wise Koh tells us. I have discovered I am taking long jumps instead of tip toeing so need to reign in and revisit the maintenance guidelines.
Look forward to you joining the maintaining crew through accountability. Narelle

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hi Narelle, I'll be joining monday fortnight - first day of maintenance. Have been thinking about how that first week will pan out - froze some maintenace amounts of beef for lunches - might be writing a little meal planner to start with, that way I don't get confused if that makes sense. I've been 'told' what i'm eating (on the plan and in refeed) for so long, I won't know what I'm doing! so a planner might be the go.
have a great week, lesley |

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
oh, and one more question - do I use the goal range from the web site? I've been using my 2008 plan, which has worked fine, but at that stage your age didn't come into it. And I'm below the range I was given in 2008 anyway (I think). the consultant told me my goal weight, that is, the best weight for me personally is 58.1 - it was on my plan apparently. I wasnt' told a figure when I did the first plan in 2004. so, waddya reckon? ta, Lesley

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hi NGU,
Quote:
First, that is a bold consultant who would give you a definite weight (even down to 0.1Kg...) Most Cohens weights I have seen are a "range" of usually 2 - 3 Kgs. Second, at a BMI of 22.0, I'd think it is now up to your body to "stabilise" according to what is right for it. Certainly, you seem to be smack in the sweet spot that Cohens seems to choose for girls - from 21.x to 23.x on the BMI scale. Apart from that, why not let your body choose? HOW?? Well, after observing MANY on here, I see some starting refeed "a bit earlier" than expected - they tend to drop more weight as they get more food on refeed. The body is happy to lose a little more once it is not starving !!! Others are "right on the money" - and their body seems to agree (see Forfreddie, for one who is in that mode right now - I haven't seen one so stable, weight-wise, in refeed in a long time). Even others might go a little TOO low, and their body chooses for them to gain a bit of weight (this can be a fight for some, as they seem to think they SHOULDN'T gain weight at all - and leads to some serious soul-searching, fighting against reality, etc). I'm of the opinion that, as long as you don't STARVE your body, nor yet "over-feed it", it will settle into where it wants to be. Find the happy medium that allows both you (mentally) and your body (physically) to be in tune with each other. Lessons learned in refeed re "amounts" seem to be an important key in knowing where your body is happy. Your path seems to have been pretty stoic, NGU - I have no doubt you will settle into YOUR ideal weight just by treading softly as you enter Maintenance.... Well done !! Koh

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hi Koh, thanks for that. I got the impression from the consultant that the 58.1 figure was in the paperwork from Dr Cohen - not sure if we're supposed to know it?? maybe it's to help the clinic know if you really are ready for refeed? I did tell her i was not told a specific weight with my first program, and she said that was a bit strange (or words to that effect).
"I'm of the opinion that, as long as you don't STARVE your body, nor yet "over-feed it", it will settle into where it wants to be." - hmm, that's interesting. I feel my weight is quite low - and I'm up to day 8 of refeed, and have been finding I've still been wanting more food. I've had a bit more too...probably not a good idea I have been wondering though if I'm reacting to fruit - I'm trying to space it out though. anyway, it's a learning process, and I'll just have to go an occupy myself when I'm feeling peckish, then I'll know if I really am hungry or not I guess. also, I think I should have started refeed a few days earlier - didn't feel starving hungry, (unlike the past two times) but I had alot of the other symptoms, like Hexi. Well, I suppose I'll just have to keep my thinking cap on, and watch and wait! Great to know there is a mountain of support out there on the forum - and I know I can succeed this time around ! |

Hi NGU,
I thought this thread was worth a look - seemed to make a lot of sense, and can be a help in knowing if you "are REALLY hungry" - or not... http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11198 Koh

Re: Post Refeed Accountability
Hello fellow maintainers
I think I have mentioned that I want to only update my ticker on my personal accountability day, which is the 20th of each mth, but for the record my updated numbers (which changed after I finished refeed with age now factored in). Goal range 64kg to 67kg Started maintenance 65.3 Personal alert number 70kg Today's weight 69.5kg Did have a couple of bus days (thurs and fri), and would like to make my danger number 69 so that I don't have to see a 70. Will see how I go. Off to update my ticker so it co-ordinates with these numbers. LB x
