Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Half way to my first mango. Another deviation free day.
Good for you Jeannie for resisting the biscuits and cake. Very tempting stuff. Thanks to this challenge I believe it is keeping many people on track. Hope day 6 is deviation free for all. Cindy

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Hi all!
I've found out I've had 2 unintentional deviations in the past week by using the wrong curry powder. Does that count Well done to all you deviation free people out there!! Keep up the good work! As Jeannie says, YOU will be the winner! Vee |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
IMHO that is ok.. Vee you didn't intentionally do it and you have posted your lovely picture on your avatar.. That has to be worth a pardon..
NOW, after all these years and now that I am halfway to getting a Dancing Mango, DH decides he wants to take me away for the weekend.. grrrrrrrrr I am determined not to deviate.. I must go to bed, I just got home from nightshift and from doing some shopping.. Have a great day everyone.. |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Hey Vee,
I don't think we should count that as an deviation...thats my vote anyway. I don't use Curry Powder but in case I ever decide to...what is wrong curry and what is right curry? Cindy

I'm still DF - so that 3 days and I'm feeling really good. Normally Easter is my worst time in the year so even
getting to Thursday is fantastic. Can't get to a computer very often this week. So good luck to us longer termer who are taking every day as it comes. Love Robbie |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Thanks Jeannie and Cindy!
Wrong curry powder is when it has cornstarch or rice flour or such in it. Right curry powder is one that is made up of pure spices and nothing else. So it is important to read the label! Vee |

Thanks Vee,
I will check my curry powder to make sure it is okay. Cindy

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Hi all, just a quickie, the RIGHT curry powder is Clive of India if you can get it! It comes in a yellow sort of tin - and all the best restaurants use it! It totally rocks!
Oh and just for any adelaide girls out there, my weekend away was a last minute less than half price weekend at the Stamford Grand at Glenelg (i.e. beachfront 5 star hotel for anyone who is not adelaide!!)., Woohoo, maybe bump into you there Jeannie!! Its amazing what bargains you can pick up at the last minute. Hubby's birthday today so this is his pressie! Might even dust off the bikini! |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Hey Pandora, that is beautiful hotel.. We stayed there when hubbie came over to check out his job transfer from Victoria.. (company paid though) I reckon if you are on the top floor you could see Daisies house and you may even catch her in the pool if she is in it this weekend.. Have a great time and wish DH a happy birthday from us all here.. Well done Robbie and everyone who is still with us.. I am now officially down to my all time lowest since starting Cohens, 71.8.... I'm down another 400 gm.. I will be blowed if I am going to undo that this weekend.. it is so not worth it.. Wahoooooo.. What an idiot I am.. guess who has a dentist appointment at Marion at 4:40? for those interstaters Marion is one of our biggest shopping centres where parking is not an option leading up to public holidays.. I am going to have to go an hour earlier to cruise the carpark in wait of someone leaving... |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Argh! That curry powder thing is a pain in the butt! I've been trawling curry shops looking for startch free curry powder and health shops for Celtic Salt... been having some interesting journey's.
But still deviation free! I had to do a big shopping trip today and actually weakened and bought an easter egg. By the time I got to my car I realised I was just being a dumb@ss and gave it to the car guard instead. Phew. That was a close one - but I feel SOOOO much better that I didn't eat it! No Jeannie, I haven't come across Stargazer yet - but I'll try and find her diary! Thanks for that! Take care y'all.

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
BFG Well done. I bet the guard was surprised at getting a gift of an Easter egg. Sometimes I would get the urge to buy things so I would and then give them to my family. It seemed to satisfy some part of me and I felt doubly because I hadn't eaten it or maybe that makes me . Musn't examine my motives too much there . Either way it wasn't me that was indulging in the nasties.
As to the curry powder, Clive of India is available in our supermarkets rather than a specialized shop, how did you go, find any? Lauren

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Hello All
Still deviatione free - THANK GOD - but only by the skin of my teeth!!! Just need to let everyone know what motivation & inspiration I get from the people doing this challenge . Thanks all. Was going along easy enough until Thursday when I did a big Easter shop & when I was putting the goodies away I was so tempted by just about everything - starving for some junk food! I really didn't want to deviate after getting this far. But, before I could give in, I come here & reread all of the challenge posts & drank a big bottle of water - it Worked. Am now taking it one meal, one craving at a time & so far it is working cause the scales show I'm losing weight again - YAHOO! Not that I am planning to have any chocolate over this break but I don't think we should be too hard on ourselves either if we do cave. I realised that I had before I joined this challenge I had gotten too focused on my failures rather than my successes which just kept me in the wrong mindset to get back on track. I couldn't seem to get through one day without a deviation & I wasn't releasing any more weight either. Now I am reminded that I should celebrate the weight I have lost not focus only on what weight I still have to lose. I believe that we need to celebrate every success & that will bring about more success & before we know it we'll be at our goal weight. So so so cannot wait to get there. Thanks again everyone & happy easter for tomorrow - best of luck to everyone & if we so succumb to the evil chocky then ka sa ra sa ra (as Doris Day would say) - then back on the wagon to resume the count. regards, Frannie

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Well I am back from our little adventure away.. Lucky I packed fruit, crackers, water & lunch so I only had to battle with dinner last night at the restaurant.. I chose Oven Baked Chicken and had the choice of veges so I chose cauliflower and zuchinni .. the chicken came on a bed of mashed potato so I scooped the potato to one side and tried to get as much of the sauce off as I could.. it was really lovely eating out and staying DF.. would have luved the pavola with berries and cream, but I was strong.. We went back to our room and I had an orange.. also had diet coke to drink..
Today was hard though, could have easily had a cuppachino, passed through Moonta and was so tempted to have a famous "Cornish Pastie" but didnt (thought of the indigestion helped me pass too) I decided to have a cracker and another coke & wait until we got home, I had my lunch then.. No chocolate so far, who would have thought that having a groovy banana would be so important to me I have to say it was good eating out and feeling comfortable after instead of that bloated I feel sick feeling.. slept like a log too.. I looked at Kannadew's photos the other day and saw her amazing progress.. I thought "WOW she must have been on this for 18 months" then I read her starting date and almost fell off my chair.. She STARTED when the consultant told me I should be FINISHED.. less than 12 month ago she started and over 12 months I started and basically because of my stupidty and having all these little deviations along the way I have not even reached halfway yet and I only had around 25 kilos to lose.. I am so embarrassed,,I could just smack myself So the moral of the story is that "Yes the little deviations along the way make a huge difference".. Kannadew has lost over an amazing 48 kilo's, to my pathetic 11 or so.. But I am being postive, I am still here, I am not going away and this is the shock I needed... You are right Frannie we should focus on our successes and not beat ourselves up over failures because it feels good to have successes, it is too easy to feel sorry for ourselves while shoving another chocolate/biscuit in our mouths.. Ez not to worry Mate, been there done that many times.. Just start again when you feel like it.. really 2 bites out of a hot cross bun is pretty good when the WHOLE dang thing would have been in front of you.. hmmm just the smell is awesome.. Cindy I am hoping to be a Sixties chick this week sometime as well.. I bet you get there sooner than you think!! BFG you may not be able to get that brand in Africa.. I for one am not going to count you as deviating if there is no other choice available for you.. I am sure the rest of the girls will agree.. we have to be realistic.. and quite honestly I don't think it would make one iota of a difference given the tiniest amount we use.. Having said that I am happy to post some over to you if you PM me your address... Stargazer never started a diary here.. she did have a few posts though.. Pandora Love the new avatar, btw we passed through Gawler the other day, lovely little town.... Sorry for the long post I shall leave you all in peace.. STAY STRONG... for that hehehe |

Re: "Deviation Free Challenge"
Aww Jeannie you're a real sweetie! Thanks! I'm going to keep hunting for the Clives of India curry powder (or anything similar) but I'll let you know if I'm stuck! At the moment I'm using Coleman's mustard powder which the clinic told me is okay to add some ZING to meat, cheese, etc. But ah, a chicken curry would be awesome!
Jeannie - you handled the eating out thing SO well - good for you! And Frannie - I'm with you - why do we always look at the negative side of things?! Last night we were with friends who were congratulating me on the weightloss / thinner face / better hair. I should've just thanked them and celebrated it... but instead I said "I'm not even halfway yet!"... What's THAT about?! I should be doing the dance of joy! This week my personal challenge is to embrace how well I've done so far and rejoice... yes REJOICE in the losses! Ez - no beating yourself up now. It happens. Two bites are better than three. Back on the horse - you can do this! I'm still DF... amazingly! Had a busy day yesterday the PIL's were over for coffee and hot cross buns (I've frozen 2 of them... the buns, not the PIL's ... to have when I actually CAN) and I survived. Last night we went to a BBQ at friends and I survived not having the cocktails - even made most of them - I'm the mojito queen... curried carrot salad, delicious easter egg dessert, etc. Felt really good this morning too being hangover free! Although, being the designated driver everytime we go out is getting up my nose a bit .... AND on top of all that good stuff I was 400g lighter this morning too. Woo hoo! That makes a total loss now of 15.3kg's - so I've earned that new charm for my bracelet! YAY! I'm off shopping girls Thanks for all being here - it's bizarre how accountable I feel to all you people I've never met! But you're all such wonderful, strong, lovely people. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
