Hi AJ, Excellent loss to date - and the way you're going it won't be long before you can show that waist off.

Default Re: Annabelle Joy's diary

Back down the 200 gm I went up yesterday. Tried on a couple of clothes in the next size down. I can do them up, but they're still a bit tight. Should be okay in a couple of weeks. A few weeks after that I'll need to go hunting through boxes of clothes that I've had stored for years. Tucked in one of the blouses and will definitely be able to do that once I can fit into the clothes, but won't really feel comfortable doing so unless I have a jacket covering most of my waist for a while yet. Got my husband to try on his dinner suit pants and some suit pants to show him that he really does need to lose 4-5 kilos before our son's wedding in October if he wants to avoid having to buy a new suit/dinner suit. He'll look very trim if he does. He's already lost a kilo on our simpler, healthier lunches and dinners, while still having his wine and snacks.

Thanks for the encouragement, Wendy and FotoHijinx. I'm really pleased with the results so far, accept that I'm not going to achieve the spectacular results of a young'n.

Well done AJ, yes Cohen's doesn't discriminate against age - I'm 53 (54 in April) and I'm still getting great results and just look at Pandora go - what a hottie!

AJ,

It's good to see that you are on the downward trend again. We both were told (at least I was) that we would lose weight slower due to our ages. I guess we will have to admit & accept that fact. However, don't mean we can't try!

Glad you have been able to get a few old thing fastened. It's always good to visually see what other see and we cannot (or at least I can't) until we go when we are able to fasten that which couldn't be even pulled together a week earlier! You go girl!

Hi there AJ,

Pulling out the old clothes is great fun isn't it. I started at a size 22 - 24 and I can't wait to get into my 16s that are still in a box on top of the cupboard.

Have a great day and keep up the good work - that 800 gr drop must have been a great feeling.

Cheers
Daisy.

Default Re: Annabelle Joy's diary

Well, I don't usually get depressed by small upwards fluctuations on the scales, but this morning was a bit disappointing. I had hoped to be down another couple of hundred grams. Instead I'm UP 600 gm. What's bothering me is that I can't think of any reason for it. I had an easy day at home yesterday, drank all my water and ate what I normally eat. I did feel hungry a lot of the day. I'm wondering if the three fruits and 8 crispbreads might be a bit much carb for me at the moment. Even so, I only had 6 crispbreads and 2 1/2 fruits. Hopefully, I'll be back down again tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. There's not much in my wardrobe that could be identified as fashionable in any era. Mostly long pants and loose tops. I'm looking forward to buying clothes that actually are a fashion.

Hi AJ,

Don't be disappointed...I know that's easy to say but remember Dr Cohen advises not to weigh everyday. He must have insight that doing this results in fluctuations in weight and disappointments. Also the scales are not a true reflection of what actually is going on......there is also the loss of centimeters (or inches) alongside the weightloss.......your baggy clothes are also in the picture.......those boxes will have to be opened up sooner than you think.

Have a good day.

Hi AJ...

Don't be too discouraged. I have weighed every day since the beginning which was May last year.... and in that time I have seen MANY upward fluctuations (sometimes as many as 4 in a month!).... my highest UP was 800gms! It certainly annoyed me! I have recorded everything in an excel spreadsheet so when this happens I can check what combinations of foods I have been having or how much water I have been drinking... but mainly I just look at my weekly tally as a reminder that the general trend is DOWN!!!

I have deviated twice in 9months (holidays in June last year!) so I KNOW its nothing I have done wrong and we have to remember that our bodies have weightloss cycles and hormone cycles and we don't really understand what's happening and we just need to trust the process!

You are doing really well, and like me you have an extra factor to take into consideration.... being older than most people (here) doing the program... (I have Raynauds).. These things might bring different cycles of their own!

Anyway... Just wanted to encourage you that the GENERAL TREND IS DOWN!!!

Blessya
Kannadew

Hi AJ

I really think you need to stop weighing every day.

You are doing the program 100% and have lost over 6kg in 3 weeks so the program is definately working for you. The ups and downs of the scales are going to do your head in. I dont want you to get depressed over the scales and deviate. There is no way you have gained 600gm! It's just your body being silly.

If you want daily stats, can you have your husband weigh you daily and not tell you the results until the end of the week?

Hugs

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement and advice. I want to stress that I'm not in any way discouraged by the increase, just a bit disappointed as I've had three flat days and was hoping for a drop today. I've been on lots of diets, always weigh daily, and know the scales go up and down, and that this diet will work for me. I always take the lowest weight I've seen as the current one, as I know that increases are not fat going back on. 600 gm is about 2 1/2 glasses of water drunk that are still there, and I'm drinking about 16 glasses a day. It's also about 4500 calories more than I need for the day and I sure know I didn't have that, so I do know that it will disappear again. I think that the fact that I was hungry most of yesterday might have something to do with yesterday's apparent increase. Today I don't feel at all hungry so far. I haven't been recording what I'm eating, Kannadew, but have decided to spend time today programming a spreadsheet so I can enter everything I eat in easily.

It is rough having to deal with a water retention problem. It would seem that women are more prone to it than men. I think that is all that the fluctuations are about and it's good that you can accept them. I know, from your posts, that you are a strong woman in your head. Because of that, I'm not going to tell you what we both know about daily weighings. I do it religiously. I don't get depressed and I don't think you do either. It's more frustration than depression. We are both willing the scales downwards to try to beat the odds of slower weight loss than the young'uns!

If the daily fluctuations are not bothering you, then there's no reason to change. I know it would depress me

Im only drinking half the water you are. You must just be retaining some of the water.

Anyhow, you seem like you have it all under control. Not long now till your first month is up!

Thanks, healthy life. I expect plateaus so, no, I don't get depressed unless there's no movement down for a very long time. On Cohen's that's likely to be about three weeks!

I was told by my clinic to drink 1 litre of water per 25 kg of body weight. It's not in the book, I have seen that a few others have been told the same thing but it doesn't seem to be general.
