Talking Snuggly_Boots Diary

Hi everyone! I'm new to Cohens, have been on the diet for 8 weeks now and I must admit I have been lurking on these forums before making the plunge to introduce myself!

I have PCOS and the doctor has told me to get my weight down or kids are not going to happen for me but I am going to prove them wrong!!

I try not to weigh myself every day, but I am addicted to it! But to date I have lost 16Kg in 8 weeks. I have friends who have done this diet and I thought quite negatively and thought there was no way I was going to be able to do it, I thought that I had PCOS and I have tried in the past to eat better (Or I thought I was), but would put on weight so it wasnt going to work for me!!

I have quite a bit of weight to lose, but im just chugging away and love looking at the scales every week (who would have thought)!

Anyways, I hope to find some great friends on here, we are all in it together huh!!

Thanks guys! Yeah its so awesome to jump on the scales every week and see a loss. The only week I didnt lose or put on was Christmas week as had a bit of deviation with Christmas lunch, but thats okay, in the past, built a bridge heheh

I just cannot wait to get down to under 100Kg, I have a gorgeous wee horse that I tried to find a good home but he doesnt seem to want to settle and doesnt like the new owners, so have brought him back home, one of my goals is to be able to ride him myself

It was so exciting on the weekend, I was a size 22 when I started the diet, I bought some skinny size 18 jeans a month ago and slotted them on on the weekend, a little firm but hey, they fit! So was stoked

I feel so much more positive about life to be honest, I was in a rut and its amazing how crap food can bring you down!

About 3 weekends ago we were at friends all day and most of the night, decided to have a big catch up etc, they all ordered pizza, I was starved and deviated with the pizza....The next day I was bloated and had no energy....I couldnt believe that I used to eat like that all the time...no wonder I was a bit negative at times, and feeling "fat"..... It taught me a big lesson thats for sure and I never want to feel like that again...

I have so much fun on these forums reading up about everyone's weight loss and their before and after pictures, such an inspiration!!

It has been such an emotional roller coaster however for me over the past 8 weeks, I have cried, I have been angry and bitter. 7 Months ago I gave up smoking and the withdrawls are so similar its quite amazing...the first 2 weeks of Cohens was very similar to the anxiety I felt in my first 2 weeks of giving up smoking. It pains me to think of the way I was eating...I kept putting on weight and yet I would convince myself that although I may have had a salad for lunch at work, I would go home and have Burger King with hubby or KFC or a foot long Sub from subway....But food addiction is just as serious as smoking and other addictions.

But now, I am 7 months not smoking. I am 8 weeks into Cohens, and life is absolutely awesome Hubby and I still have our moments as sometimes I do get hungry if im not clock watching to get my next feed hahaha but hey, we are all good, and seeing clothes fit me so much better now, 2 dress sizes in 8 weeks is such a big thing for me as I was so sure I was ust meant to be "big boned" but im nearly 6 foot and could always hide my weight so well, but it is time to be real....bring it on!!!

Hi Snuggly Boots!!
Way to go on your awesome weight loss so far and two dress sizes down!! YOu sound like you are learning heaps of your Cohens journey and that your head is screwed on right and is in the right head space which is a really important factor with Cohens!!
YOu've undergone so many changes in your life with the smoking and now your weight so you are truely an inspiration to those people that may be struggling, so keep the fantastic work up and I look forward to your future posts!

Hi Snuggly Boots!

16 kg in 8 weeks is amazing. It certainly sounds like you are on the right track and that even though you deviated, you have jumped back on the bus right away.

Isn't it amazing how we can convince ourselves "I'm not really that big". I know for me personally I really didn't comprehend how large I was/am until I saw photos. For some reason the mirror doesn't tell me that story, but the photos do. Like you, I am tall so I have always carried my weight quite well - up to a point. I am also well proportioned, which also helps to hide the true extent of my problem.

My other half had no idea how much I weighed and he thought I would only be a few kilos heavier than he is. He was shocked when he realised that I was 30 kg heavier than him. My bones are also quite heavy for my frame - my mum commented that I have always been like that since I was a kid. I know that my frame itself isn't large - just very dense. I suspect that I will end up at the top end of the Cohen's range in the end.

I love you goal of getting to a weight where you can ride again. That's also one of my goals. I'm going to get to 90 kg and then go for a ride. I can't stand the thought of riding at the moment - it would be cruel for the horse. But I think it is a great goal for both of us and importantly, one that is not food based.

2 dress sizes down in 8 weeks is a wonderful achievement. I only hope that I can say that in 5 weeks time!

I hope you have a DF week ahead of you now you are back on the bus!

Hey Kat & Gigracer! Thanks for the encouragement!!

It is very exciting jumping on the scales thats for sure each week and yup I think I am completely in the headspace now

Gigracer, we are on a very similar journey I think! Yes I am solid build also, I take after my dad's side, they are all tall and although not fat, they are all just solid build, hard to explain, im sure you understand! So although my "goal weight" is 75, I think just getting under 100kg I will be stoked! But if I can get to around 85kg and just see how it is from there as I dont want to be too tall and gangly looking hehehe

But hey, will see where the road takes me!!

Yeah I havent ridden my horse since last year, I put on a lot of weight last year, comfort eating I think through all our lovely earthquakes we had, although I was still a large rider, (my own horse is very huge, 17hh and solid as a house) so it will be awesome to get out there again soon as a lighter rider!!!!

5 Weeks, you wait! Its just awesome seeing the scales go down! I keep a spreadsheet of my progress, some weeks it was like 600g and then the following week would be a good 2kg, so its very up and down. I weigh daily, im obsessed with it, but it keeps me on track!

Hi there snugglyboots,

I love your forum name!

Thanks for visiting my diary and for your kind words, I am thrilled that my diary helped to inspire you to join cohens and begin your journey. And look at you go - you are already almost 25% of the way there.

Don't stress too much about the what your end weight may be. I did the same thing, thinking that if I got to around 70kilos I would be happy but my body allowed me to go lower and I think I will finish around 63 kilos, smaller than I thought possible.

I have been that weight in the past but I am smaller than I was then because I fit into all my old clothes and some that would not have fit me then. I am carrying some skin weight, so think my weight in reality would be closer to 61 kilos. I always thought I had a larger build too - and while I definitely have a bigger bone structure than some of my friends, I am smaller than I thought I could be at the conclusion of this program.

So my long winded advice, just trust in this journey, in the program and your body. It will give you the cues you need to let you know when your journey is done.

Keep going well - the rewards are so worth it. 100kg will be here an gone before you know it and then it will be a distant memory.

All the best

Butterfly xx

Red face Re: Snuggly_Boots Diary

Gosh, thanks so much Butterfly!

I had a bad day on Saturday, ended up heading to a BBQ at a friends place and because I had only popped in for an hour for a catch up, ended up staying there all day and half the night yapping! It was nice, I didnt drink thankfully, but obviously didnt take my food with me, but tried my best to eat very limited steak and things like that, I put on about 600g when I weighed myself yesterday, was a little disappointed . only lost 1Kg this week, I am sure I could have done so much better.

But hey, I am very good and giving advice to friends etc when they fall off the wagon, it was only one day, Im back today 100% fighting fit! lol

I know it is going to be soooo worth it when the weight falls off me, but it is hard sometimes when this time of year friends are having BBQ's and catch ups and everything else!

Its all good, just a little disappointed in myself, but will be okay Im sure!!!

Heya Snuggly,

Congrats on your weightloss so far. You are doing great.

Don't let the BBQ slip up get you down, just try and learn from it and stay on track as you have been. Dont let it reuion all your hard work so far .

I too take after my dads side of the family, they are quite tall and strongly built, my mum and sister on the other hand are little shorties haha.

Yey for the skinny size 18 jeans...how exciting is that? I bought some pants today they were a size 14...tight but they fit and they were from a store called City Chic...not sure if you have heard of them, they stock larger fashionable clothing, so im not sure if there 14 would be the same as other stores. I tired on a size 18 from a normal store a day before I started Cohens and coudnt even get the button to do up and zipper close.

Hooray to our shrinking bodies.

Keep up the FAB work.

Hey Suga!

Yes we have City Chic over here, we had a nice shop right in ChCh centre, but it has been demolished, unsure where they might be opening up again but they had such lovely stuff in there! Clothing is all so different isnt it, I tried another pair of 18 pants and they fitted like a glove, and yet another pair of 18 pants in the wardrobe I couldnt even get past my ass! LOL

Yeap I am sure it wont be the last time I slip up, but I am doing okay. I feel like I am in a plateau period at the moment, last couple of days the scales haven't moved at all...but Im sure they will, they better, I still have at least 7kg to my next goal and I want to be in double figures soooon!

Well I seem to be having a good week so far, this is week 10 now. It doesn't actually seem that long ago that I started! I have been really busy, we have bought a house so we move in next month, its all very exciting, I just cant wait Im losing slowly, but around 1.5kg per week at the moment, so its going well

My mum is coming down in May to stay with us in our new home, so would like to get down to 100Kg, thats my goal for May, its only 3 months away to lose 26Kg, bit of a stretch, but if I can get near that I will be stoked My sis is coming over from London in June so if I can get down to around 90Kg by June that will be awesome We are having a Birthday dinner at the casino, so I am thinking of getting a nice dress to wear! goals, dreams, its all so exciting!!!

Life is great at the moment, its nice getting compliments from people and its awesome to see my body changing shape!

Hi Snuggly
I'm loving your diary too, and just wanted to say well done so far, its amazing. To be taking this journey after being smoke free for 7 months is also an incredible achievement. I found my weight increased dramatically when I stopped smoking and I certainly replaced it with drinking more too. Your motivators are not just sensible, they are special, and you are in the right place to help you get to your goals. I'm inspired by you, keep up all the good work, we'll make the journey together.

Huggles,
Tink

Thanks guys for the kind words!!

Hubby said we should book ourselves a holiday for the end of the year....yay! So I am thinking of the Gold Coast, hubby hasnt been to dreamworld and movieworld etc before so it might be fun! I think he would get bored laying on a beach somewhere heheh I dunno, I will have to have a think about it!!

Last night I was sooo hungry, had an extra cracker (smack on the hand)...I just needed something, I felt like I was ready to tear my hair out LOL I think I didnt have enough for Dinner, I went to do my chicken that I normally have and I left the kitchen only for a second to get the washing in and it burnt!! arrghh! so I only had my vege allowance, serves me right! So I will have to be a lot more vigilant of that in future But I weighed myself this morning (I am addicted to weighing) and I have lost 1.2kg already this week with my weekly weigh-in on Sunday! keep going down, im lovin it! Hubby said to me this morning that I am looking fantastic
