Default Vegetarian, high blood sugar, someone else's plan- help please!

Hey everyone,

as the title says, I probably shouldn't even be here.
I am a vegetarian, which is the first "problem". Then, due to my weight, my blood sugar is much too high. My doctor says it is type 2 diabetes and it will improve once I lose weight- the thing is, I have tried numerous things since I was 15 (I'm 25 now):
- Low-Fat (30g per day first, then not long ago 10g)
- Exercise
- No Dinner
- No Carbohydrates in the evening
- Weight Watchers
- Some form of appetite suppressant of which I can't remember the name
- plainly eating as little as somehow possible
- any combinations of those things.

I have never lost more than 2-3 kilos with any of those methods, although it should have been possible (my doctor checks my blood regularly).
My BMI right now is at about 33,5, going up.
I never liked my body and I'm not expecting it to start if I lose weight, what terrifies me most is that no matter what I do, my health is going to ruins.
I feel that even if I dare do something in public, I simply can't, my body is always giving me trouble. My pulse and blood pressure go up like crazy, I am constantly out of breath.

I know it is not advised and therefore I might not be welcome here, but my friend has offered to give me her eating plan (since I can't afford the program and there is no clinic anywhere near me).
I am still unsure if I should start it, but I really am desperate for my situation to change...

Exercise is a must have part of your life don't try to cut off it. One of the important thing that you need to do is that don't escape your meal time. If you think escaping one times meal will help you loose your weight then you are wrong because it gives you more health problems in returns. Do you breakfast healthy. Eat low in lunch and dinner. Give some space to your stomach and control your appetite. That's all you need to do. Good Luck Juni.

Hey David,

if that was all there is to weight loss, I'd have reached a normal weight a decade ago. What you describe is my normal routine, except that I've given up on exercise. I hate it, I have little time and I always felt worse afterwards. I know that I am making excuses, but after all those years I was extremely frustrated, and I gave up.

Sadly, somehow this lifestyle alone does not work for me, which is why I began trying all off the above mentioned methods in the first place. I got desperate, especially because my mum tried the same stuff I did and always lost huge amounts with less effort.

Thank you for the advice anyway, I appreciate it. What you say is logically right, and I'd love to just do this and be successful- but I am not.

Which is why I consider doing Cohen's, but everyone (except my friend who offered me her plan) tells me not to do it, even if I had my own plan...

Please do not use your friend's eating plan.
I would strongly suggest you speak with your local clinic and see if you can work out a payment plan.
Get on the plan. I'm a vegetarian, know you will be restricted to certain proteins. You will have to choose 5 proteins, so you will need to choose a meat, chicken or fish.

If you can't afford an eating plan, then I would strongly suggest you cut out carb from your diet. I know it is hard being a vegetarian, but get your sources of protein from other sources. Don't eat from a box any more. Eat fresh.

Thank you for your answer, MH76.

The thing is, I have no local clinic, and would be struggling even to pay for the regular blood tests.
You are a vegetarian as well? Then you didn't do the programme, or am I missing something?

Also, I do not quite understand what you mean by "eating out of the box" and what this 5 protein-thing is and why because of that I'll have to eat meat- sorry, not a native speaker

I understand what you want to say, though, and I probably would agree with you on why sharing plans is not good, only now I cannot help but think more in the way of "how bad can it be, it can't be worse than how my health is now".

What part of the world are you in? If you are not in Australia, NZ or the Philippines, you can go to 1stpersonaldiet.com - check things out there. It is very very reasonable in price. Perhaps your Doctor can help you with blood tests etc. Sorry I don't know where you are in the world.

Yes I am a vegetarian and ate fish on the program (which I disliked a lot).

Eating out of the box means - no processed man made food. Eat natural.

Your friend's unique Eating Plan will not "trigger" your body into correcting its imbalance. It may well cause even more imbalance and illness! Also, in some cases of 'copying' we have come across people who have initially lost weight, but gained it very rapidly when going off the Program. Once again, because the treatment was not meant for them and as a result their HGH had not been 'triggered'.

It is your risk.

Central Europe. I know the site you posted, but would much prefer to have a local clinic than doing stuff online. But it can't be helped.

Ah, ok, was not quite sure what you meant. I have to confess I do eat processed food a little, mainly in carbohydrates (bread and stuff).

Anyway, I have decided not to do Cohen's. Partly because, as you said, it is a risk and I simply can't afford my own plan, and partly because I could never bring myself to eat meat or anything like it.
I just hope my friend has something else up her sleeve I can try, unfortunately the weight did not vanish overnight (a girl can dream).

My wife is slim. She was vego. She gave it up after being diagnosed borderline anaemic.

She stills does not eat masses of meat like roasts, chops etc and she needs to hide flavour but she eats chicken breast, beef mince, plains white fish, no skin. She is lot healthier because of that. And even slimmer.

Plain white bread et all, is absolute worst thing you can eat.

Having said that I don't think Cohens would work for you as it is a lot of commitment to strict program. I and not being person but you have to ready to commit.

I am able to follow strict programs, that would have not been the problem, trust me. As long as there are some signs that it is going ok, that is.

Anyway, I am glad your wife is better! I do agree that a balanced diet with meat is a good form of diet for the body, but I am checking with my doctor regularly and have no bad side effects from being a vegetarian, therefore I continue being one. It simply is my choice of life, I could not bear to go back to eating animals.

I am not eating any plain white bread, just whole grain stuff from my local bakery, but of course it is man-made, therefore I am sure there are processed things in it...
