Default Focus, perseverance & balance - on plan

Hi all,

It's been about 5 months since I've been on plan.
Have lurked in the shadows for those months reading and absorbing and learning. Thanks for all the posts.

Have lost just on 29 kgs about 3 weeks ago and being a monthly "weigher" I try not to think too much about the numbers in between.
Started at 116.9kg and down to 87.7kg, on way to 63ish.

So why the diary now? Well three reasons:
1) It's s long way and since I've never been below 85 in my adult life I'm worried about listening to all the "you've lost enough now" comments
2) the afterlife is going to be harder and requires as much, if not more focus.
3) maybe this helps one person.

My partner and I are doing it together and all is ok thus far. It's weird how differently people lose weight and the different parts that reduce/shape at times.
You have to be very cautious as to not compare.

We have the mindset on no option and this has really helped to stay focussed.

So this is my diary and I will randomly post stuff as I don't weigh daily or weekly

Things I've learnt/had to change since being on plan:

1) It's best to stay away from restaurants other than for "drinks" as estimating or choosing healthy options does not work for me.
2) Preparation is unbelievably important. And I suspect will be more so in maintenance. I don't expect to weigh in future but will prepare at least lunches in advance for work.
3) Fruit and crackers are life savers
4) Very big pants look odd when altered. I rather buy one black pants( or steal others) for work as I drop sizes.
5) There are days you forget about food, but there are killer days when 5 hours seems like a day. The latter is far less and are followed by good losses/shape changes if you get through them.
6) water, water, water and then more....ok 3L for me is optimal
7) I have been carrying almost double my weight for 20 years, that's what causes excess skin not the diet. There's shrinking and then there's miracles , deal with it later.

Fun and games...

Hi Fuzzy,

So glad you have joined the forum, welcome.

I'm a complete newbie, just picked up my plan yesterday, but have been eating Cohen for 6 days. So very much appreciate any advise you can give.

Sounds like you are going great, over 27 kgs is no small feet that's over 5kg a month! This is comforting to me because initially I wasn't sure I could endure such a strict eating regime - but clearly based on this forum it's definitely doable. Thanks for the tips.

Do you have a favourite meal(s)? I'm loving salads ATM mostly because leaves are light and my meal resembles the size of an actual meal. Pretty hungry today *sigh*.

I look forward to learning more about you and your weight loss journey.

Thanks for popping in ladies.

Hmmm, favourite meals....
By far my panfried mushroom, green pepper and cheese. (Friday night junk food)
Then I do a lot of curry - chicken, ostrich & beef (freeze too)
And garlic prawns.
It's not a favourite but we do baked chicken breasts to freeze in different meal sizes and then pre-prepare 3 days of salad so it's just grab salad and frozen chicken to work.
Our local stores now have baby marrow spaghetti and cauli rice fresh, a little expensive but is awesome for convenience.

My favourite dessert, especially in this 35 degree weather is honeydew & mint sorbet after dinner.
Have this single serve contraption you keep in the freezer that I can scrape my fruit into sorbet.
It's awesome.

Go you Fuzzy!!

Well done you are going so well. I just had my weigh in this morning and lost another 4.1 so down 14.2kg in 8 weeks. Had a few struggles this week but have stayed strong - amazing for me but I don't want to deviate as I feel I may find it hard to get back on track. Keep up the fantastic work and we will be skinny girls together

My goal is 64'ish so we may get there around the same time.

Have a great week

Can't wait for the holidays now.
5 more working days then it's summer escapades in the Southern Hemisphere.
Getting through all the year end dinners are a chore, especially the sit down ones.

Eating over the week:
Breakfast - yoghurt & mango or egg, green pepper & mushrooms
Lunch - steak and salad or chicken & salad ( steak and chicken made and frozen over w/end)
Suppers - chicken/ beef curry and cauli rice or balsamic ostrich and spaghetti marrow.
Weekend lunches & dinners more creative: crispy mozzarella base with green peppers & mushroom or garlic prawns and marrow or burgers, onion and salad buns

Wow, travelling and Cohens very difficult. Been on plan since the 18th while driving around the country.
Didn't always manage to get self-catering accomodation so trying to stick to grilled fish/prawns and salad. Two out of three meals weighed but it's scary and so frustrating. Decided I will do what I can and not beat myself up on things I can't always control.

Christmas with family so all weighed and mango for dessert so that's all good. Been struggling with the sweet temptations mainly but powering through.

Hope all is going well with you guys. Keep strong.

Hi Fuzzy

You sound like you are under control! Go you! I resisted all bad things as well but what a test it was! I will be interested to see if I still love sweet things when I am finished my plan or whether they will be just too sweet for me to stomach now. I am hoping for the latter as chocolate and sweet things are my downfall!!

Keep up the great work - we can do this
