Default EGGS

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has tried just an egg white for their meal choice?

Does it fill you up and hold you like the whole egg does?

Just thinking without the yolk, it might be better for you?

Hi Shell,

I actually HATE eggs... if it's in a cake or something fair enough but I just can't stand them scrammbled, omlette, poached or anything else like that. Which means my meal 1 or specifically, my breakfast options are limited. The only way I have ever really eaten eggs is softish boiled with soldiers (toast cut into thirds) to dunk in it lol but I still wouldn't eat the egg whites.
I was discussing this with my partner the other day and he actually came up with a FANTASTIC suggestion for me.

Soft boil the egg, use my crispbread allowance to dunk in the yolk, eat my veggie allowance. He said he would eat my whites for me. But since that's not eating the WHOLE egg, he suggested making a meringue for "dessert" using an egg white and some of my sweetner. We gave the meringue part a go the other night to see what it would taste like. Unfortunately i should have used more sweetner - all you could taste was the egg - but otherwise it wasn't too bad. Going to give it another go sometime soon and see if that one fares any better.
But it's a good way to seperate the 2 for me. Oh and I also still need to run it by the cohens team - which I will do at my weigh in on wednesday

Unfortunately, although the yolk isn't as good for you, I think that you are supposed to eat the whole egg... but, don't hold me to that!

Hi Shell,

Yes you do need to eat the whole egg. The idea of the yolk not being good for you is a very outdated fallacy.

Our programs say that we are allowed 1 egg not just the yolk or the white as Dr Cohen has looked at the nutritional value in the whole egg.

The egg white may be lower in fat but all the vitamins and minerals are contained in the yolk. Also, whatever fat is contained in the yolk (about 6g per egg) is mostly unsaturated.

There really is no need to worry about fat content and only eating egg whites if you are following the program to a T. With Cohens program, cholesterol is also not an issue since the program is so low in fat.

Thats the answer a freind of mine got when she asked the same question from her clinic.

Hey all,

just wanted to let you know that I ran the boiled egg\vegies\meringue past the clinic yesterday and they said there is absolutely NO problem with it, i just have to make sure I eat the egg all in one meal!

Default EGG Questions??

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone knows how many eggs we are allowed to eat in a week? I have an egg for brekky every day, is this ok? I just wasnt sure if i should be mixing it up.

If its doesnt give you a limit I think you are OK. I have eggs everyday as I cant eat youghart. Re-read your program and see if there is anything specific mentioned for you. I know my cholesterol is very good so I assume that Im OK.

Have a look under your protein specifications, Stef. They're in section 3.1 of your personal plan. Mine states: unless specified, one egg a day is allowed. And nothing else is specified, so I can have one egg a day! Hope that helps!

Hi Mel - my plan doesn't state the size but I have always stuck to 600 gms (large) - I know you can get smaller and bigger - but I figure this is taking the middle road

Hi Mel, my plan does not state either, so I just buy the average size egg about 55-60gm egg. I have an egg most mornings and have continued to lose weight over the past 6 months, so this must be OK!!!

good question! I was wondering the same thing! Fat Sam was saying BUY THE EXTRA LARGE ONES! But Skinny Sam won and I bought the normal sized ones.

I always used the 800g eggs- I say if you are allowed an egg- have an egg!
I doubt a 100g of egg either way would be of great significance.

Do you guys always eat emu and ostrich eggs? Do you know how big a 600 ~ 800gram egg is? You sure you don't mean 60~80gram eggs? That's a normal Chicken egg.

Anyway, I was told anything up to an 80gram egg was okay.
