Default Forever feeling like the 'fat chick'

Its a strange thought but when talking to my clinic - she said she still feels like a 'fat chick' even though she finished the program 2 years ago..she also said she doesn't think this goes away.

I totally understand this and still can't believe I am skinny...I know I am but I still feel like I am 'fat'....

Very strange

I just seem to be waiting for the bubble to burst

Just sort of hanging in there at the moment- do not feel in control at all, sort of feel like an imposter, if that makes sense

I know what she means. I too feel like I'm the fat one still and then I have to remind myself that I am in size 10s not 24s anymore, so I can't be fat. However, the mind does funny things. It will be a while (if ever) before I ever naturally think of myself as slim.

Question

I hope I never get to feel like a fat chick.................????

in more ways than one ...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though I feel skinny as every time I roll over in bed my bones rattle .........and I cant sit on plastic chairs for too long as they hurt my spine bones .......and I can pick a match head up off the ground with out bending my knees .......... remember MIND OVER MATTER ......clear the mind - you need to see a good therapist who specializes in
Hemispheric specialization and cognitive behavior therapy

That is the way to clear the left and right sides of the brain of old thought patterns etc - maybe some one on this forum can enlarge on this and the different types and techniques used.

I think it is important and after refeed I intend to follow it up.

Here a link to start with - that should wet your appetite -

http://www.brainskills.co.uk/MentalF...echniques.html

EMDR Therapy is another form - which I have used - after serious work related incidents that I have been involved with - and found EMDR to work very well - its well worth researching and talking to your G.P. if need be - or seeking some professional help.

Have a good thought and have a wonderful day.

Andy

I'm with you all on this one.. I even look in the mirror & see the fat chick I 'once' was.. so I'm seeing someone, just not soon enough for my liking..

It's not until I see photos of myself or perhaps a reflection of myself & one of my daughter's is with me while walking past a window or something like that that I realise I'm not..

Numbers on my clothes dont really seem to help me anymore either, except perhaps act as a subtle reminder to me that I'm doing OK.

Yeah ...it must be a chick thing... I now, 30 kgs down, still cannot get my head around the fact that I am not "the fat girl".. I know on one level I am not, but ...I wonder if it will ever change????? As I have been overweight for about 40 years , I expect it is going to take more than 5 months for there to be a shift in the way I perceive myself....so weird. I am really working on changing my thoughts in that direction....I think it will improve with time.

Oh I think this can be 'overcome' - it relates to our subconsious thoughts of being 'fat' and often this belief system can lead to panic, anxiety and obsession post Cohens...see thread on binge eating...I think this 'thought' can be changed and self sabotage stopped in its tracks
