Hi Kim,

Quote:
That's all okay though I believe my weight loss has to start slowing down as I get near goal weight.
You might be in for a nice surprise, Kim - on this plan, that is NOT common.... And, wow, NICE cm drop - maybe THAT is why the Kg loss wasn't so great this week. All in all, it is working as it does.

Glad you had a good time on the slopes with the kids,

Koh

Default Week 16

Hi all,

Have had a good week - as of Tuesday I had dropped 1.7kg - you were right Koh!

I spoke by e-mail with my consultant and it appears that I am ready to go on the re-feed programme. I have been feeling rather dizzy when I get up in the morning and lightheaded at times during the day. I have to say also that I am very very hungry!! I am counting the days till my re-feed arrives from OZ- hopefully it won't take too long. While I type this my stomach feels like it is eating itself

My consultant did say i could add extra 30g protein and 40g of vegetables to either my lunch or dinner to help me get through it but I think I will try to wait it out until the refeed arrives. Anyway the closer I am to the target weight the better I think.

Speak to you all soon.

Kim

Hi Kim,

So long as you are not becoming stressed, and can handle the hunger, then keep on.....

But, if the hunger is getting too tough, then I'd suggest you follow their advice (you will likely STILL lose weight, even with that extra 70g - it's not huge).

And, prior to refeed, you need 10 days of devi-free (so, if the hunger is putting THAT at risk, then go the extra in preference).

But hey, WHAT a Xmas you're gunna have eh?

Smile Week 17

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your congratulations Mette and advice Koh. I haven't deviated at all through the programme although at this stage, I am having to give myself little pep talks when I am preparing meals for the family or baking for the kids lunchboxes so far so good. I had an inkling that losing these last couple of kilos were going to be the hardest in terms of focusing on keeping "my eye on the ball" - wish me luck!

Had a good loss this week of 900 gms and 5.5 cm. I was able to fit into my first size 10 skirt this week which was an amazing feeling. It is always in the back of my mind is my weight loss going to stay off or will I start falling into old habits. I looked at myself in the skirt and wondered will I still be able to fit it next year - horrible feeling.

My family (parents, grandmother and mother-in-law) are all getting on my case now about not losing anymore weight. I have been telling them that I am starting maintenance and I am not intending to lose anymore weight - just to shut them up. It's funny how people have to turn something that has been so positive into a negative at the end.

I heard my mother-in-law talking to my husband when we arrived at her place on the weekend saying that I was getting too thin and I needed to stop. Later on she point blank asked me how much I weighed. I was really annoyed. I said to her "Less than you. How much do you weigh?" I know very petty but I was getting irritated...

My brother who lives in Canada asked me for some photos which I sent him and he then told me not to lose anymore weight but just to work on my tan!! Cheeky eh? (I don't take him too seriously being the oldest and all that).

Well hopefully this time next week I will have received my refeed. Speak to you then.

Kim

Smile Received Refeeding Programme

Hi everyone,

Today I received my refeeding programme. I have e-mailed a few questions off to my consultant one of which is what is my top end goal weight. I was only ever been given the figure of 55kg. I just need to check with them to make sure that is the top end weight and not the bottom! If it is, I need to loose another 1.9 kg which will bring me within 2 kgs of goal weight to begin the refeed programme.

Having read it through twice already things are sinking in slowly but I am going to have to really plan well to get this to work for me. I have been given a 15 day refeed plan. From day 1 Bread has been added in as well as "Good Fruit", so it will be two different foods going into my system which I am going to have to consider if I don't feel good afterwards. I may alternate the bread with crispbread on the alternate days just so I don't overload my system too fast.

Exciting times ahead I think...

Kim

How exciting for you, Kimmy! It must be nice to get new foods introduced. Hope I get there soon! Good luck with it!

Hi Kimmy,

Just over the last few days, I've heard of MANY who are getting dizzy (I'm referring to an earlier post of yours). In most of those cases, cutting BACK on the amount of water seems to help.

e.g. When one is at 100Kg, one might need 3 litres a day, but at 60Kg, probably 2 litres is sufficient. And, it seems, dizziness results from too much water (I've read it many times recently, from many people). So, maybe cut back a bit to see if it settles you somewhat.

I figure the happier you are as you start refeed, the better it will work...

Default Week 18

I received my refeed plan on the weekend and I have decided to keep going with my original plan until I am 57kg which will take me exactly 2 kg from top goal weight. I hope to reach that by end of next week. I think I will be much happier starting the refeed programme by following the instructions to the letter rather than trying to work out whether I am really ready for re-feed or not. I think my body is ready but my head isn't quite there yet!

I have read through the refeed programme several times. I want to feel like I am in control and the only way to do that is to plan all my meals in advance, so I have created a 15 day menu which I can follow even if I have to go back and repeat a couple of days if the weight gain is too much. I feel much better having completed that and it raised some questions regarding the plan which my consultant was able to answer. Adding the new protein without any examples was a bit of a minefield for me. I have had to go back and forth several times with e-mails to clarify what is considered new protein regarding meat.

In terms of how I feel at the moment I am elated that the end is in sight but also incredibly nervous about this part of the journey, I am very worried about undoing all this hard work I have achieved, I know that the journey will never be over but I hope that the willpower I found during this time will stay with me.

Hi Kim,

Hehe, you sound like my wife - "A day's not a day without a good worry" is my oft-quoted comment to her....

But, no, you WON'T be undoing all your hard work, unless you go back to how you always used to eat. If you've read around, you'll often see posts like "If you always do what you always did, then you'll always get what you always got".

After completing this, Kim, you will be able to have the occasional "lash-out" if/when the timing seems right. But you've now learned how GOOD it feels to be slim, healthy, full of energy, and ALL of the other good stuff.

You'll likely find that, even when tempted, you'll eat LESS of the "old bad stuff" simply 'cos you don't want to !! Ain't it great ????

And if (heaven forbid) the worst did happen, at least you KNOW you can put it right again, just like you just have....

So try to relax, and just go do it - no need to worry, as you can "work it out" if the wheels fall off (you have that knowledge now - forever).

Go get it champ, with a light heart - love what has happened, what is still happening, and where you are - both today and tomorrow,

Hugs,

Koh

Smile Last week of Food Plan and on to Refeed

Hi everyone,

Well I have achieved what I set out to do, I have got to my target weight of 57kg to begin refeed.

This last week has been particularly tough as I have been waking up hungry and the tummy has been rumbling through the day. I haven't felt full all week. I have now come to terms with the fact that I can't continue to 55 kg as I am feeling very lethargic and I have noticed I am having more mood swings which my poor family is bearing the brunt of.

However, looking back over my journey so far, I am so proud of myself for sticking to this religiously and achieving the results that I have.

So this is my last posting in this thread. See you at refeed.

Kim
