Talking Ms. Jiggles' Refeed

Day 1 Refeed:

Enjoyed blueberries for the first time in 5 months and extra cucumbers in my salad.

Later, I will have more grams of turkey with my current amount. So far, I haven't felt hungry today, but I sure am cold. Brrrrrrrr.

Last week I was told I was getting too skinny and that I looked anorexic. Whatever....jealousy. Someone wanted to know if I was feeling ok. I tell them I feel GREAT.

This is very cool to be here!!

Talking Refeed Day 2

Weighed in at a loss today! Almost one pound from yesterday morning (0.8 to be exact). I think I am shedding some water weight that I have been holding on to and also more bodyfat. My clothes are looser and now I don't have hardly anything to wear. I am smaller than I ever thought I could get back to. I am college size and getting pretty darn close to high school weight!!!!

Mmmmm!!!!!

Blueberries again with my very first slice of bread in almost 6 months!!! I chose a whole wheat sourdough. It smelled really good in the toaster. It tasted ok, but after I ate it I didn't wish to have more. It was just right.

Last night added extra turkey to dinner and it seemed like so much!! Today and yesterday added the extra veggies to lunch. Same amount of extra turkey tonight.

I am also drinking 2 cups of peppermint tea (caffeine free) a day to stay warm and also because it tastes good. Peppermint tea is also known for keeping your tummy troubles away so it is a good preventative as I add more food in.

I am so glad to be at this stage and right at my personal goal weight loss of 50#...(was originally 40, then 45, and then I increased it to 50).

Anyone reading this who is researching or just starting---it works!!!!

Thumbs up Refeed Day 3

Weighed 0.2 more pounds today, but that's ok. I read in other refeed diaries, that this will happen. No biggie.

Today for my extra two fruits, I had pineapple and an extra orange. The pineapple was eaten as a snack with my bread. Instead of traditional bread, I had a whole wheat tortilla, warmed in the microwave. It was a nice change.

I ate more of the same veggies...no new ones can be added yet, only more of the same. I had to increase the extra protein today, which I added only to dinner. I forgot to have my tea today!

My size 4 pants from a few years ago are very loose on me today. I wore a size small top and I think I looked pretty cute. I do double takes when I see my reflection because I still wonder how I got here to this size!!!

So far, so good. 16 more refeed days left.

Thumbs down Days 4 & 5 on Refeed

DAY 4: weight is up 0.8 pounds from yesterday, so I have gained one pound from 1st day of refeed. No change in food amounts today from yesterday. I feel gassy and bloated. Towards the end of the day, I have decided that bread and I don't agree!! I had uncomfortable cramps, too.

Day 5: weight is up again from yesterday 1.2 pounds. I have now gained 2.2 pounds since first day of refeed. If it is up again tomorrow, I think I will have to redo the last two days of refeed. I did not eat bread today and my discomfort from yesterday was way down. I ate crackers instead, which we can do based on the rules.

I hope my weight will stabilize, but if I reach 3 pounds gained, I will redo the last two refeed days and see what happens.

Thanks Mette and Aslan for dropping by!

Hi Ms Jiggles

A belated congrats on reaching refeed!

Sorry to hear that your weight went up two days in a row. Not a nice feeling at all! I hope re-doing the last 2 days is not necessary for you and that your body settles down, especially as you have stopped the bread.
Glad you are enjoying the look of your new slim body and that your size 4s are loose!!! Way to go!

Vee

Question Refeed Days 6 & 7 & 8

Refeed Day 6: Weight is up again overnight by 0.4 pounds.
Food intake is same, except instead of bread I am having crackers and maybe a few extra crackers here and there. Unexplained back pain today. This is unusual as I don't have much experience with lower back pain. I washed my hair tonight and had so much hair coming off as I washed it, I was shocked. Both of these things did not happen, that I can remember, during regular dieting. I also felt a bit lightheaded. None of these things may be Cohen's related or they all might be...who knows!

Refeed Day 7: Weight did not go up or down overnight. My extra small pants are looser today! So even though the scale has moved up overall 2.6 pounds since day 1 of refeed, I feel smaller. I got to add more veggies today, which I really enjoyed. I also had option for more meat, but it rules say if I think it is too much food, I can choose to stay on DAY 6 amount of protein. I chose to NOT increase protein. I had unexplained back pain today.

Refeed Day 8: Today, weight was down 0.4 pounds!! But like I said before, I am not going to stress because stress will make you release bad chemicals and contribute to negative reactions in your well being. I woke up this morning feeling hungry. I guess my leptin is waking up!! I get same extra amount of protein/veggies in today's amounts. Bread option is 2 slices, but I am not eating bread, only extra crackers.
More back pain today Now this is concerning me. OTC nsaids are not helping much. I also have a mild headache. More about the end of day 8 tomorrow.....

Thanks Vee for the nice remarks and advice!!

Smile Day 9 Refeed

Scale back up again one 1.4 pounds overnight. See below...I'm guessing that it was the rice I ate.
My clothes still don't feel any tighter, in fact they feel bigger....that's a plus!

I get to add 3 slices bread if I want, which I won't. I had crackers today and I had small amount of rice yesterday (breaking a refeed rule, but since I am not having bread...that's what I did). I am doing that again tonight for dinner. I disagree with the refeed rule of no other carb but crackers if not going to have the bread....I will be eating brown rice in maintenance as my main carb, besides oats, as I ease into hard cardio and weightlifting, so my body should get to know it now.

I was allowed to have a bad fruit today...banana. So far, no ill effects.

No back pain today or dizziness. 10 days left on refeed.

Angry Refeed Day 10--I learned my lesson..

Ok, I'm just going to say that I screwed up my refeed. The scale jumped up again and that is something I can't continue to ignore. I should have listened when it was at 3 pounds up, but NOOOOOO, I have to be stubborn and think everything is okay because my clothes are loose and because I thought since I was not eating any of the bread that they said I could have (3 slices), that I could replace those carbs with rice and extra crackers and even some mixed nuts for a little healthy fat. Now I am up total of 5 pounds from first day of refeed.

I am angry at myself. I let the consultants know and they advised that I get back to exact refeed rules and just keep going the next 9 days. I threw in some exercise for good measure.

So lesson learned--don't think you know better than Dr. Cohen and his refeed plan rules.

Arrow By the way...

I AM beating myself up a bit much, but I DESERVE IT. I WILL learn from this mistake and it is NOT the beginning of downfall for me!!

Positive thinking is my goal and I will pick up and keep going. I have to. I've done so good for almost 6 months.

Thanks for reading.

Hey Ms Jiggles

It was a set back, but you have recognised it and have moved on with a plan!!! I have had a setback too - I have put on and the only thing I can put it down to is I think I am reacting to the bread, so I have made the decision to cut it out and will only have it on the odd occasion.

I think we just need to dust ourselves off and get on with it

Goodluck with the rest of your journey

Smile Done with Refeed One Week Ago...

Well I'm finally back to say I'm done with Refeed and am now one week into Maintenance!

It was not an easy refeed for me as I had trouble with all the new restrictions and the re-awakening of desire for bad stuff. I didn't have to start over after my slip up, but just kept going per the consultant advice. I had 19 days of refeed. At the end of it, I was DONE. I think I waited too long to begin it and I was ready to finish.

I am not eating regular bread, but a few days ago had some corn bread and last night I had brown rice with dinner. No bad side effects.

I still eat crackers, which I rather prefer over bread.

I had a small surge of sugar cravings but that is gone now. That may have been due to PMS, which is also causing me to retain water right now. I have had couple of cookies, some chocolate and lemon iced bread and I did not enjoy it as I had in the past. In fact, last week after refeed over, we had a birthday party with double layer chocolate cake in the office and I DID NOT HAVE ANY. Can you hear me? None AT ALL. It doesn't mean I won't have cake again, but just because it is there, does not mean I have to eat it. I felt I did not need to at this time.

I just took my after photos and it is amazing. I look like a different person. Maybe I will have the courage to post them? We will see.

I have settled right at the low end of Dr. Cohen's recommendation of 130 pounds. This morning was at 131.2. I am happy with that and I will be glad to not go over 136, the high number. I am also ok with not being in the mid 120's(beginning of refeed weight), which was my " happy mental number", but at which I got the most "you are too skinny comments".

If I get there again, it will be through weight training and fitness. We'll see. I really need to tone up and can't wait for some of this loose skin to tighten up, especially around my belly button. I have a flat stomach, but the button is not a nice round circle yet. In time, I'm sure it will get there.

I'm still losing big clumps of hair. Hmmmm...hope that will change soon.

Acne with PMS has returned also! Oh well. It's minor acne, thank goodness.

What else to say?....I'm going to open a maint. diary and update there from now on. Thanks for reading and for all the support. I hope others who are researching and reading this will be able to use my info!
