Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Welcome Sangi,
I'm not brave enough to offer any advice to you just yet as this is only Day 2 for me! But, from what I've read, you won't need 15 months to lose your weight! (maybe that was a typo??) Anyway, keep up the good work and hope your back gets better soon. At least you don't have to exercise on Cohen's! Sue |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
welcome sangi! I also just officially started last week.
I'm surprised that there are various sizes of chicken eggs! I would assume just the normal chicken egg would suffice? But oh, good question because some people also eat quail's eggs, etc! |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Hi Sangi,
That is interesting, for sure !! Quote:
As I've come to understand, many things can affect the rate at which you lose weight. Age, sex, starting weight, health, dedication, etc. Thus, no two journeys are quite the same. There have been "one or two" in my recollection that seem to lose slower than most, so your clinic may well prove to be correct. Time will tell..... Koh

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Hi Koh,
I'm from Singapore, the Time schedule is given at the end of my personal eating plan. It goes like this: "A time schedule has been set, during which you should reach your goal weight , based on a minimun weight loss of 4kgs per 4 weeks, plus a further 2 months:15 months". May be the others have it too, but haven't mentioned it on the forum. |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Yeah, mine has it too (also Singapore). I think that's the maximum period before you have to pay more, but hopefully a LOT less time than that.

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
sorry, did you say that you are having shark soup?? Other than conservation concerns, I don't think it's listed on the Cohen programme? Isn't it???

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Sure you have Koh. Both AJ & mine were designed for a rate of 1kg/week. All programmes for those over, I believe, 55 years old are designed for a slower rate of loss.
So I actually beat the rate by a wee bit averaging over the whole course 1.1kg/wk. Just about spot on I'd say. sms Quote:

Unless it's (Shark) been recently added to the programme, I don't believe it is either. Shark is an oily fish and the only oily fish on the programme that I'm aware of is Tuna. Even Mackeral, which is related to tuna, isn't allowed. The only reason tuna is, is because the oil in tuna is lighter and more easily digestible that any other oily fish. You might want to check with your clinic, but if it's not listed as a fish choice in your programme, you can't have it. sms

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
]Hi FYM, so how long did you take to reach your current wt?
and SMS, i am 38, so i think the rate of wt listed for me due to the large amt of fat i must shed and Shark is listed on my programme, along with crab, crayfish, prawns and more. and littlemiss When i said shark, it is the small variety, readily available in Singapore. if is under conservation, it wouldn't be ,Right? and not shark's fin, wherein the fins are cut off and the sharks left to die a horrible death.[/QUOTE] |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Sangi, if it's on your program then go ahead and have it. My program also laid out for me how long it would take me to lose the weight. I was told that they give us an average of 4kgs a month plus two months buffer, but that most people lose much more quickly than that if they stick to the program. I was given 11 months and finished in 7. I think this is a business decision in line with the rules of corporate ethics here or something- to give clients a rough time frame. In any case, following the program given to me worked wonders and I am growing in confidence everyday as I maintain my weight and find out what works for me.
The eggs I think are just the normal hen's eggs you get in the shops. Good luck! You are SO lucky that you aren't feeling hungry. I suffered the first week and then was fine after that. |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
And that is what I've been talking about with regards to the programme constantly evolving. I checked my programme last night - no shark. I also wasn't given a time frame but it was easy to extrapolate at an average of 1kg/wk but I was told it was designed that way due to being over 55. So apparently there have been enough instances where people younger didn't lose at the old claimed "it's possible to lose up to 1.5-1.7kg/wk average" that they have apparently changed the "spiel" in the presentations now. So, if it's in your programme then it's okay. Again, I've said it before, the programme is constantly changing. When AJ and I started (1 day apart in Jan 07) she was allowed 8 crackers a day and I was allowed 9. I think the most we had heard before that was 6 crackers. Changes. That's why it's so important to reread the programme weekly.
With regard to eggs. I was told that for the programme purpose you were allowed a single egg/day. That egg could weigh up to 70-80gm (that's a normal AAA egg) but they're almost impossible to find here. However, you cannot have two of the normal pasar trays type of 50-55gm eggs. It's a single egg. So, while it is possible to get 60 and even 65gm eggs (The Marketplace) at $3+ for a tray of 6 it's ridiculous. However, if you go to the wetmarket or like I did, go to the distributor, you can find 70gm AAA eggs at around $5-6/tray of 30 if you talk nice to them! You are not allowed to import emu or ostrich eggs though!

Well, it took 44 years to gain the weight, and since 1st Jan to lose 8.4kg (so 3 weeks). I was told the same as Firefox by the clinic: essentially expect a "minimum" of 1kg per week, but hopefully a lot more! |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Apologies, sangi - I checked my programme and shark is also listed on my fish choices. I must have not registered it in my mind! Glad to hear that you just as feel strongly against shark fins.
How are you doing so far? |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
hi littlemiss,No worries, i took the advice of the other cohenites and keep reading myprogramme everyday now for the past four days, and always find or understand new details.
I'm actually doing very well, no hunger pangs at all.i normally like all the foods listed for me, so it doesn't seem like a punishment.I have to cook normal meals for my family and don't feel tempted at all. infact i've started usuing less oil for them as well. And SMS, i get my 70gm eggs straight from the distributor for $6/30 eggs.they look so big compared to the small ones we get in NTUC, so i was a bit concerned. Anyway i'm planning to just have 3 eggs / week and the same goes for cheese as well. as for prawns , i'd want to stick to once a week, even though i love them. The frozen prawns in NTUC and Shop n Save are listed as cooked Shrimps. and shrimps are not allowed on the programme. so what do i do? |

Re: I have begun my journey to a new ME!
Hi
We get fresh (grey) prawns from Giant or the wet market, I weigh them into bags for me (and bigger portions for my husband) THEN freeze them. |
