It will definitely be impossible for me to do Cohens while on a business trip. I am at the Sheraton KL this week and wow the food that surrounds me is like....

I have been still focusing on having meats, seafoods and vegetables and very low carbs like crispbread. Was avoiding the carb dishes like pasta, fried rice... but yesterday they serve my favourite mee siam... so caved in...

mee siam....hmmm...I never like it......find it a big bluff to be called a main dish because its sour taste always end up making you more hungry. It should be considered an appetitizer.

That's where you are wrong. Look up Barczar's diary or blog (link is in his profile) while he was on the diet. He traveled 90% of the time and mostly business class meeting up with oil company CEO's & COO's and such and staying in 5* hotels all. He lost 43 kg in around 7 months and remained deviation free. It all depends if you WANT to do it. It can be done.

hey divineparadise,

When are you officially starting your programme? I think once you start it (and think of the money you've invested into it), you would find it easier to stick to it.. don't stress out about the pre-Cohen diet, and let it affect your programme!

Take it from me, I had to wait for a month (with the consultant's agreement) before I could officially start the programme.. She did recommend (unlike what has been posted in the forums but oh well, I'm not going to think much about it) to follow the diet as best as I can, while guess-estimating the weights (I didn't have a digital scale then). In retrospect, I am glad that I 'tried it out' for a while before finally committing to the programme because I made some silly mistakes in the beginning. Glad I got that out of the way!

By the way, I'm a fellow Asian living in Asia too so we can commiserate together about all the foods we're missing. But hey, I rather miss out on the foods now, and learn to eat better because I'm tired of being overweight!

Your body will adjust to not eating mee siam and avoiding hotel buffets! Who cares?? The food will always be there! But do we want to continue with our current weight? I sure don't!

*hugs*

Hi littlemiss,

I have checked with my gynaecologist regarding this program and she recommends me to take the blood test only after my menstruation has stopped. The reason is because I have prolonged menstruation (already coming to 2 weeks now...) and my hormones are completely upside down, and since Cohen's is a diet aimed at regulating hormones, and that the first blood test will determine the diet plan, it is better for me to take the blood test only after the period is over.

But I am still doing pre-Cohens now and have lost 1kg thus far.

I'd back off the pre-cohens as that will also cause a false reading on the blood test as well. You should only start pre-cohen after your bloodwork.

I am kinda surprised that when I ate a bowl of fish soup today at a coffee shop for dinner, it tasted extremely salty and eventually i could not finish everything! Normally I gobble everything down. This is just after abt 2 - 3 weeks of doing pre-cohens.

Hi there, divine, it's interesting how our tastebuds become more pure !

Prior to Cohen's I was cooking more for myself because I felt that there was too much MSG in the food here. When I went home for Christmas, I realized that my normal foods were too salty!

I haven't used any salt other than what naturally occurs in food since I started the programme. My wife uses the slightest dash of soy in my kailan I can taste it cause it's too salty. I love having kicked the salt habit! (and that wasn't a byproduct of Cohen cause we ARE allowed to have salt during the programme) But I gave it up when I gave up the sugar and now my tastebuds are having a blast with all the new tastes I've been experiencing since Cohen's.

I had yong tau fu soup today and the after effect was terrible. I had locked jaws for the whole afternoon and felt really uncomfortable. The first thing I did when I went home was to make a Cohen-like meal, Chicken and Vege stir-fry! I should be eating as per normal but my body doesn't want to listen?

My period is finally O.V.E.R and I will be going for the blood test this Saturday. Excited!

Hi diveinparadise

How are you going now? Are you back from your business trip? You must be excited about having your blood test so you can get your plan! Can't wait to see how you go once you are on actual Cohens. You should start a diary in the new diary section and tell us all a bit more about yourself and why you are doing Cohens?

Cheers

I have to start as soon as possible... I keep having the idea of going for one last binge, which would really be bad for hormones I believe!

Hi Divine

Ask yourself, why do you want to have the binge? What will it give you?

My concerns about a binge would be:

1) Your detox will potentially be longer which means it takes you longer to get into The Zone - and that is the place you want to be ASAP
2) You potentially gain more weight from it, which you then have to lose.

Think back to why you are doing Cohens and what it will give to you. Compare that with why you want to have the binge and what it will give you.

It's good that you can deal with this issue now so that if you are struggling in detox or tempted to deviate later, you will be able to come back and look at how you dealt with this, the answers you found at the time, to get you through.

Remember, Cohens does not say you can "never again" eat the foods you love. You will just learn on maintenance how to eat them without putting weight back on. Binges have to be a thing of the past for all of us, or we will be back here in a year or so as post-grads....

Sleep as much as you need to - listen to your body. You will know when you are in the Zone from how great you feel and you focus shifts away from food, no cravings etc
