Christmas cards

Mrs Koh was fortunate enough to take a very special shot of my favourite Australian bird - the Tawny Frogmouth. Often thought to be an Owl (which they are not, but do look a bit like them), these endearing, wonderful creatures make quite a picture.

She lined up four Tawny chicks on a branch, and took a shot. The result put a smile on both of our faces. We initially called them "Eenie, Meeny, Miney, and Mo" - but I think they really are four of the seven dwarves from Snow White. I can certainly see Sleepy, Dopey and Grumpy - maybe the fourth is Doc - not sure....

Anyway, she decided to dress them up a bit, so here, just for you are her Christmas Tawnys:-



We have made cards of these and they are for sale at $3 each, or 4 for $10. We'll throw in the postage if standard Aussie Post is OK with you. Oh, and each card comes with an envelope too. Inside is blank to allow you to record your thoughts. On the back is a short write-up on the Tawny Frogmouth.

Yes Koh it did put a smile on my face, what grumpy looking little creatures, they don't look like they are enjoying themselves and how on earth did you get 4 to sit on a branch and look at the camera. Amazing, I'm sure you pulled them out of bed, that's why they look so grumpy. lol.

Well, you are certainly close with that one.... As a nocturnal being, the daytime is their sleep time. We were there early in the morning, but they were likely looking to settle down in a nice cool dark room - and there we were saying "Oh, don't go to sleep yet - please...."

They are such docile little things and so soft. Even an adult's feathers are way softer than most birds. I guess it is this that makes them a "noiseless flyer". Super efficient when their prey don't hear them coming....
