Default Cohens - Take two

Here I am again almost 2 years to the date that I originally started Cohens. One week down and 4.6kgs gone! - Yes it still works. I'm using my old plan and although I know that the first week is always a good loss, I'm hoping that it will continue on a downward spiral.

So my story is similar to a lot of 2nd timers. I lost over 30kg in 2013 and got to my refeed, only to do it half-heartedly and slowly the weight has crept back on. I still weigh less than my original start weight, but not by much. Over the past year I have repeatedly re-started cohens and only lasted a couple of days (one time I even got to 10 days), only to fall off the wagon. This time feels different and I feel I'm in the right "Headspace". I know what my downfalls are and what to avoid. I'm hopeless at drinking water and if I have cheese I know that I will add a bit more than I should. So no cheese on my menu until I am in the zone! I also read a saying the other day that went something like this .. "why is it so hard to drink 8 glasses of water in one day, yet so easy to drink 8 glasses of wine with one meal". Maybe I should drink my water out of a wine glass?!? I also know that I have to be prepared. Otherwise it is so easy to get to a point where I'm so hungry that I will grab anything to eat, including non-cohen. So I prep all my meals the night before, no excuses.

Prior to starting last week I was feeling very bloated, my jeans were getting tighter I was feeling tired and lethargic. I was also starting to get back pain again. I was even getting complacent with every day chores. This week the washing is all up to date, the house is tidy and I'm feeling a bit more motivated. My jeans are still tight, but I'm not so bloated. I'm really looking forward to the euphoria of losing weight, looking and feeling better.

I have 2 "food" events that I have to get through in the next 10 days, but I think I can manage it with minimal damage. I think I will just order a steak and salad at both venues, I'll be driving so I wouldn't be drinking anyway.

I'm determined that this will be the last time I do cohens, I have to do it 100% to plan and I have to commit myself to the end.

Welcome Taurus,

I'm another 2nd time round girl.... I started week 2 today and know what you mean about being more motivated.
Unlike you I didn't make it very far last time as a trip to Hawaii had me go from dedicated Cohen's girl to dedicated pina colada girl in about 3 days........... then couldn't get my head back in the game. So 4 years later and only 1kg less than I started last time I am in a better headspace to hopefully see this through this time.

Good luck - will be checking in with you

Thanks so much for your warm welcome, it certainly makes a difference to know there are other people who have similar experiences and the same journey ahead.

Westie - last time I lost 3.6kg in the first week, but this time I had eaten an awful lot of rubbish before I started. If I remember right, the first time I started I had been trying to diet and had eaten sensibly prior to starting. I'm looking forward to travelling this journey with you. How much do you need to lose? I'm going to spend my evening catching up on a few diaries!
Diana - Hawaii sounds fun! I've just got back from the big holiday so I can put the pina colada's behind me now and focus. When I got to refeed last time I did a 4 day hike and of course needed the carbs & chocs to get through and that was my undoing, I got back from the hike and decided I was in good shape and didn't need to do refeed - shame on me!

Am struggling with my water today. Does anyone drink hot water & lemon as part of their water intake? Does it make a difference if you have cold water or hot?

How are you doing today Taurus? lol I had to laugh because this time I spent the weekend going out for lunches and enjoying my favourite foods before starting lol - will see how I go - although I am a daily weigher!
I want to loose 28-29kgs - but am hoping to have 10-13 gone by 26th September so fingers crossed and then more gone before 31st October - I have just returned to a vacation in Bali and that was too many beers and cocktails so I guess I am detoxing as well - lord knows my liver will be thanking me!
I think if you use lemon it counts as your fruit allowance so I tend not to use lemon as prefer to have my fruit for those "OMG I am going to eat the next small child that walks past me" moments
I find if I drink 4 x 750ml bottles a day it is doable - but cold weather doest help much!
Happy Thursday
Westie

Day 11 for me, I'm still in a good headspace and am feeling elated each time I get to the end of the day and I've stuck to plan. I'd like to say that each day gets easier but its not happening yet! I'm having lots of "eat a small child" moments (nice phrase westie). Still struggling with water & I know that if I drank more it would curb the hunger but I just can't seem to do it.
I had a really yummy chicken & mango curry tonight. I use to eat it a lot when I last did the program, I think I'll be eating it a lot more too.

A new month tomorrow. I'd like to commit to losing 6 kgs for August, that will get me past the 10kg mark.

I hope anyone reading this is having a great day.

So I'm not a daily weigher, I try not to obsess too much about the numbers on the scale. My weigh day is a Monday, BUT this morning I did weigh. Being the 1st August I have decided that I will set a goal for the month of losing 6kg. I've lost 800gms so far this week with 2 days to go. I was expecting a small loss after my big loss last week, so no surprises there. I wonder if 6kg is a high expectation but I will just have to stick to plan - and DRINK WATER!

Tomorrow will be my first hurdle, I have a family lunch. I'm going to have to go mentally prepared.

My clothes are starting to feel slightly looser - bring on the smaller sizes.

Ordering steak and salad sounds like a good choice - last time round thats what I did and I still had losses Oh man wishing I didn't obsess over the scales but I do *hangs head in shame* I cant help it - daily weigher here! I think a goal of 6kgs for August is def doable - but drinking the water will def help with that as Diana said "water drunk is fat peed out" lol nice one!
Looks like a few of us have weigh ins on Monday so Il be back to check out your progress.
Happy Sunday

Thanks for your support Westie & Diana.

I did have a little blow out for sunday lunch, but I still managed to retain some dignity and didn't over do it. Back OP Monday and so far good today. Woke up Monday morning feeling like Sh**t though! Serves me right.

Diana, I'll be following your progress closely. It will be great to have a buddy along the way who has a similar weight loss goals. I'm just 100gms behind you at the moment!

Water, water, water - must drink water! I've decided that I can only drink hot water and lemon. So I have a little sliver of lemon that lasts the day and I'm onto 1.5ltrs for the day so far. Half way! No point trying to drink cold water because I just can't do it at the moment, its too cold and I seem to be cold all the time. I remember that from last time too.

Have a great day.
