Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
More importantly once your hormones are balanced your life post Cohens and keeping the weight off should be a lot easier...yeah I reckon you should give yourself a bit of slack and 'try it' see what 100% on Cohens can do for you after one week...you are worth it, we all are

Asy
is there someway of posting the Falling off the Bus article from the Bris Jan Newsletter? I think it would be a good addition to this thread to remind us all what happens if you deviate! Thanks! |

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
i have thought about this a lot over the past 16 weeks (DF) and i have distilled all the thoughts to one "article of faith"
"if you dont stick it in your mouth you cant deviate"

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
Hi all,
This was written a while back by AJ..However, what to me is more important is that you have to realise that this is not a few months of your life. This is your life from now on... This is the second time on the program for me- four weeks in and I am almost finished again, my reason this time for gaining weight was pregnancy complications. First time around I lost 43kilos. During that time I deviated twice- firstly in my first few weeks I drank Diet Coke and not 'caff free' Diet coke. Then again half way through to have a sip of my husbands champaign, not really necessary and really not worth it and to me - I stupid thing to do and definately a big deal!. This time around I have deviated by not weighing my food as we went to my husbands work dinner(but followed my program as closely as possible). I do not think much of that this time around as I know the consequences and do not mind being back on the program. Being under the strict rules took a few days to get used to again but it is totally worth it.. Deviating... When I was no longer pregnant I tried excersising and eating properly (cohens friendly and maintenance weights) to loose weight to no avail. I stress here that I was eating Cohens friendly with the exception of milk in my tea in the morning.. and still I did not and could not budge the weight. I honestly throught that that would be enough but I was wrong. Slightly deviating- 15ml of milk a day... eating half hour early... going to bed a bit early... not weighing my food - all deviating and not a big deal in my mind, pretty sure that it wouldnt affect it that much this time around... I was wrong. It is a big deal! Being on the program 100percent is what helps you loose the weight! Deviating is a big deal! Please trust me when I say that going back on the program is so much harder if you deviate! Having been there I definately agree with the other ladies, It is a mind set. It is also a timely reminder with christmas coming up to stick to the program, I have seen people shed 20-30-40 kilos on cohens, deviate just for christmas and pile back on the weight never to go back on cohens again. It is such a shame! But the reality is that if you are take deviating lightly then you are going to backslide when you are maintaining. This is a lifestyle change! Christmas will be here next year and the year after that- if you have changed your lifestyle then you will not stuggle with it- it you have only been on a good diet then you will and you will probably gain it all over again... Just my thoughts on the matter. I do understand how hard it is to be on the program and if you are a serial deivator then please message me- I get it! But I also want to help you to stay on it one hundred percent all the way to the end and beyond! Last edited by SecondTime; 21-12-2011 at 17:48. |

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
Since when is diet coke a deviation? Only recommended to have caffeine free coke etc if you are having more than 3 cups of coffee a day.

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
Should clarify that of course you can have caffeine free cola whenever you want, but that diet coke, coke zero, Pepsi max, Pepsi light etc are not deviations of the Cohen plan. Talk about stress people out over nothing!

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
lol.. Sorry if that stressed anyone! ... I did cohens three years ago- at that time I was not permitted to have diet coke- I was told by the clinic that it had to be caff free- regardless of if I had coffee or not... And I was only aloud three cups of normal coffee- otherwise it had to be caff free. I think maybe that it has changed slightly since my program was created but it definately was a deviation for me- Also my mother and I have both done cohens and our program rules were slightly different- From the same clinic as well so maybe it was simply that mine is different to others or out of date- either way doesnt really matter- I was trying to make the point that it is 100 percent cohens that brings the results in the short term.. it is the mindset that makes the difference in the long term.
I recommend that everyone check that they are following their programs 100percent and if your unsure ask... as for me I will continue on the program that I have 100 percent because I know that it works for me. Again, sorry to stress anyone on here- certainly didnt mean to.. Will stay in my box! |

I agree, Diet Coke is fine on plan, just not bucketloads of it! I would not have survived without it LOL

Re: asy's thoughts on Deviation...
Okay, so reading this, in my head, I'm all...YES YES YES! Exactly!!! That is how I feel 100%! But confession, I promised my husband that in a month, I'll take a vacation with him and a vacation from the diet. What the heck am I thinking? That doesn't work! I have to get it together. No deviations are okay. Never ever! I'm going to have to work it out with my honey and have an on plan vacation. Cause you are all 100% correct!!!!!!
This post is such a big help. And a major inspiration for me! Thank You!!!! |
