Re: New members - welcome !!
Also from SA - Port Elizabeth. I am now just waiting for my programme. I feel a bit apprehensive. This is it for me. It has to work!!! Hopefully I can beat the "fat" habit, like I beat my smoking habit. With what I've read so far, I am sure that it is a possibility, and hopefully this forum can help me on my way. |

I was wondering if you'd still remember me. I've finally built up my courage, went to the clinic and just start the program heh heh. I know it took me long enough but it's better late than never right? Hello Imfef, FlaMie, Fornight, Blue-Thunder, Baloo, greeting from the new Singapore member I don't know about the 5-7 days waiting period (the clinic also told me about the same thing) but I already could not believe my eyes this morning when I weight myself! I did take your advice about drinking 1 liter water for each 25Kg of body weight though. And I do feel lighter already. Thanks ever so much again SMS |

And yeah, I wondered what happened. Figured you just decided to go a different direction. Some do. Some mull it over for quite a while. Not a problem as eventually you all made the correct decisions and that's what counts! Blue_thunder, also from SingaporeExpats, is just starting after mulling it over for quite a while as well. I've met him recently at a small gathering of some of the forum regulars up here. I've also had the pleasure of meeting imfef (also from the site up here) and FlaMie who, while not from the site is a fantastic person! We had a "tea chat" one afternoon before imfef finished. We are planning on another after he returns from his holidays. You might want to join us. The last one was a very enjoyable afternoon down at Velocity. Again, welcome aboard! sms

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi all,
Am very very new to this forum concept. I started Cohen's in Oct 07 and lost a total of 20kg to Jan 08. Unfortunately I didn't get to complete the program and/or the refeeding program as god bless I fell pregnant with my second child. My baby is now 7 1/2 mths old and I have decided to jump back on the band wagon again and get to goal once and for all. I am not going to purchase a new program and am lucky that I had received my refeeding program last time. I would love to know how to put those little ticker things to show weight loss as I think it would be a great motivator. I have just finished day 3 with zero deviations and am focussed on day 21 as this is when I am visiting family and plan to have a 'new' body by then, I only need to lose 10.1kg to get to goal then onto the refeeding from there. Sorry if this is too long. Good luck to everyone out there on Cohen's, my number one tip - drink your water... as my consultant said to me "every time you go to the loo just think I am weeing out fat & toxins" |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi Nadine,
And a big welcome to you !! You've come to the right place. BTW, were you "here" in 2007 ? Or is this all new to you? Quote:
If you wish to start a diary, we now have a couple of hoops for you to jump through - find "Personal Diaries" forum, and look at the top of the page for instructions re those. In short, Diaries are only for Cohens people - that is all we are looking to ascertain in that "NYF Diary Request", Koh

Thanks Koh,
No this is the first time on here so it is very new to me. I actually wish I had come across this site in 2007 I might have actually completed the program then (I had many deviations)! Ok off to 'sticky' #2 ... it might take a while to get the hang of the lingo too. Nadine |

Wondering how I'm going to go without the alcohol though - not that I'm an alcoholic but I do enjoy a glass of wine (or a few)!!! . But in that regard, I'm looking forward to seeing how I feel without it. Hope you have great success - best of luck! |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi all
I started the program early this year, around March, lost 5kg in total but went off the track immediately. I was not in the right state of mind at all. I went to the clinic occasionally but finally gave up and informed my consultant that i would like to restart in august. I contacted them again to restart and was informed that i needed to pay more money to rejoin. I have not even completed the 6months on the program. Is this fair?? I don't think so. Please let me know what to do because i am really fired up to start now. |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi everyone!
Wow I never knew this forum existed... I am on Cohen's for the second time, never completed my first program always found excuses but I am in a better headspace this time and I can tell you paying the $$$ for my new program hurt so much more the second time around so I am a little more motivated! lol! I have been on the program for almost 5weeks now, lost 9.2kg in my first month which I am over the moon about, however it could have been better cause I had a naughty week in there, kicking myself a little for not behaving fully! I am looking forward to spending a little more time around here now that I have found you all! Hopefully on my days off when I have a little more time I will be able to get a bit more of a handle on the place! |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi all
First day on Cohens and I am already in tears I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing and I am so scared I am going to do something wrong I need to lose about 100kgs I honestly dont think I can do it.. I have been fat all my life. I started getting fat at 11 when my dad died and have not stopped putting the weight on. I am now at the age where I am 1 year from the date my dad died from a massive heart attack and I dont want it to be me.. I kind of went through a stage where I had to decide if I wanted to do this or just kill myself. The latter seemed a whole lot easier. I am sick of all the taunts and the terrible things people say and think of me. I am sick of how my family make me feel when they tell me how disappointed they are in me for being so fat. I am totally at my witts end and I am hoping that this will work for me as I dont know where to go next. WOW where did all that come from Wish me luck |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Welcome Hopfull, Im glad you've decided to join us, thats your first possitve step......
Fisrt things first read over your plan know it well...!!!! Read other tips and tricks posted on here very helpful..... Then decide what it is you want to be eating for the next week, make up an simple menu plan if you like, get yourself down to the grocery shop, and buy what ever it is you need to keep you on track. I find going week to week is best form me but you will soon find what works best for you and your situation. I suggest you weigh ALL of your portions of protens out for the week, pop them into snap lock bags and freeze.... Remove from freezer in the morning what you want for that day, eg lunch, dinner. Now get a good water bottle I use a 750ml bottle drink as often as possible, the more you drink the better you will feel, trust me...!! Vitimins are very important, you will feel alittle tired at times, but its all worth it in the end you will soon see.... I hope it all goes great for you, if you just stick at it you will see the results, just read through other peoples pages... Simply amazing..... Im only new myself but what Ive told you above works for me, Im sure others here will give you even better tips......... Good luck..... |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi Hopefull,
Welcome!! You have come to the right place. No one here will taunt you or say terrible things. All you will get here is support, encouragement and advice. This will work for you if you want it to. The best piece of advice I can give is to be organised like s2bs said. Always have your freezer stocked with the right portions of meat. I usually chop all my vegies up and have them in containers in the fridge so I can just grab a handful of whatever I want. I then weigh them of course. Take your vitamins, drink your water and hang tough for the first few days. It will get easier and you will feel better. Read and re-read your program. I still read mine twice a week and I have been doing this for months. Try not to think about losing 100 kilos. I had half that amount to lose and I agree it seems so far away at the beginning. Break it down into smaller goals that are more realistic. I aim for 10kgs at a time. Some others like to go for 5kgs at a time. You choose whatever is best for you. It really helps to have little celebrations along the way. Start a diary here so we can all follow your journey. We will cheer your success and lift you up when you are feeling down. I don't know how I would have survived this without the forum. I wish you all the best Hopefull. YOU CAN DO IT. We are all here to help you. Rach |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi there Hopefull,
I can only say much the same as Rach77 and S2BS. I really didn't know how much value that I would get from this forum, but I have to say, it has been amazing. Everyone here is incredibly generous and shares the knowledge that they have. The conversation here is open and honest, sometimes we need a reality check, and there is invariably always someone around to wrap us in cotton wool, as well as get our heads out of the clouds. I can't encourage you enough to stick with this. Give yourself an honest chance to achieve here and allow yourself the chance to be happy - just for you If it helps, I put on approx 30kg when my dad died, so I understand the connection many of us have with grief and food. Hang in there chicken - the first 3 days or so can be tough...and when the tough times hit, I find it best to hop on the forum and read what others so generously share |

Re: New members - welcome !!
Hi Hopefull,
And welcome to the most special place in the whole world for people on Cohens (I'm not biaseed or anything, am I ) The good news is that many others have done what you're about to do, and we have some already walking the path today. I'm sure they'll pop in to say Hello. Get ready to "hang tough" for these first three days - usually that's enough. Have some Panadol handy, your water bottle, and have plenty of naps - whatever gets you through. Don't worry about "getting things wrong", as it'll all work anyway to get you going. Just do your level best to have exactly what is on your program, as it is tailored just right for you - no-one else, so don't share it. Have a read of the "stickies" in this "New Members" area to get a whole bunch of good stuff for those starting out. If you're feeling bad tomorrow, Wed and Thurs, remember, it is EXPECTED - so look forward to the weekend, and you'll be amazed at how much better you will be feeling by then - better even than yesterday, before you started. Have a read of "the early days" in other Diaries - they pretty much all say the same. It works, and works quick - just get thru 3 days of "OMG" first Koh
