hi vee-

i know it is so very hard at times. i have struggled this past week with tempting foods put right in front of me...
i did fine, but i took it one minute a a time.
just remember that it is NOT AN OPTION.....
that is how i look at it.
i chose not to have those off plan yummies because i am sick and i need food that will heal me.

best of luck on your new job and i loved hearing about your aha moment....i am very interested.

Week 9 Day 5

Awwww hi everyone who dropped by, Jenni, FBB, Tracey, AJ, AE and Bitten!! (((((((((((((((((Hugz))))))))))))))))))

Jenni, indeed, life is terribly busy right now, there don't seem enough hours to the day, especially study hours!!!

FBB, yes we (and I know I did it) used to eat all that crap without even noticing and thinking about it going in to medicate ourselves, and that is what needs to be addressed now! That is the old program that I want/have to change!

AJ, thanks, will delve further into Penny's diary and see if I can find it.

Tracey, I will definitely give that hug to him, thankfully I get and give quite a few of those with him which is really great!!

AE, thanks, I think everyone on here is a trooper, we all just struggle with different stuff! You have been doing jolly well yourself with your insights and realisations etc since you have been on this program!! Not to mention your great losses!!

Bitten, I agree, deviation is not an option, and I most definitely chose to be healthy first and leave all that food till later when I'm finished the program, then I can choose again whether I want them or not. It really is all about choice!!

Thanks for the supportive words and encouragement everyone, it has been a huge help!!

Well after struggling to find out what was causing me to want to eat, and discovering it was the anxiety about starting this job and trying to fit in full time uni work as well, I realised that I was possibly asking a bit much of myself at this point in time, and that one of these things was going to suffer as a result. I've invested so much into this degree, that I think working can wait a bit longer, and so without any further ado, I rang the place where I was supposed to start this job and regretfully informed them that unfortunately I was not going to be able to do it as I already had enough on my plate at this point in time! They were very understanding and appreciated me calling and letting them know. (I just wonder if I did irreparable damage to my reputation, but can't really dwell on that now, gotta finish this degree first). So that felt like a HUGE weight off my shoulders.

Immediately after though, my first reaction was again to want to eat!!! I've yet to figure out if it is because I feel relieved, or what, or whether it is to celebrate that I put what was important to me first... I don't know, but that old reaction was there with a vengence. I also feel quite drained after the whole job episode.

Today and the rest of the week is going to be spent with lots of study, with little breaks inbetween (as other half is home recovering from a knee operation at the moment), so will spend a little quality time there as well.
So I may be a bit quiet on the forum for the next week or so but I'll give myself little rewards for being good and allocate myself some "forum time"!

Keep soldiering on everyone, I know I am!!

Vee

Vee, you must feel so empowered from over coming the urge to deviate.
That article sounds really interesting makes a lot of sense.
I hope the job isn't too many hours on top of your study.

Hey Vee,

You are doing such a GREAT job, you're almost in the 90s!! I think you have made the right decision regarding the job, the way I look at things, doing this program is a re education. a re assessment, and a huge change in lifestyle. Now if this were anything else, we'd put alot of time into making such a momumental change, and yet we sell ourselves and our weight loss needs short sometimes (well at least I do). It's often seen as a sideline, where really it should be your main focus. It deserves, and YOU deserve to make this work, and one of the ways to do this is to make sure you see it in the way it should be seen. This is life changing! I think now some pressure has been lifted from your plate, you may feel more in control of where you are at again, and as your priorities shift, the feeling of wanting to deviate will pass. Keep soldering on (as you say)!! You are doing so well.

Much love,

Trips xxxxxxx

Good decision, Vee, particularly given you have exams coming up soon. I'm sure you won't have damaged your reputation.

You've probably still got eating on your mind from the stressful time you've been through. Hopefully, thoughts of food will soon disappear again.

Good luck with the study and the exams. I find there's nothing worse for making me want to go to the kitchen for some food (and a break) than working on something monotonous and difficult, like study can be at times. Take a break and walk round the block instead if you start feeling like that.

Hi everyone,

Dropped in for a quick read and catch up after a day of study and uni! Gee, I've had a few visitors! How wonderful! Thanks for visiting!

Trips, you are so right, and it is learning to put ourselves first so that we are then able to look after others that is important. Thanks so much for you inspiring words and for helping me to see that.

Erica, yes, I was pleased that I didn't cave in to the temptations, cause it would have set me back and I have a long way to go still!

WB Stoddy!! I hope you had a terrific time!! I checked in your diary and you haven't filled us all in yet, so waiting in anticipation! I don't know how you do full time work AND study! That is dedication mate!!

Thanks AJ, yes, food does tend to be very close to the study concentration, and I usually go out and kick the ball for the dog, as she loves chasing and retrieving it. I'm thinking a walk around the block will probably benefit both of us!! The desire to eat is still with me, but just ignoring it and not giving in. I try and make really nice meals to compensate so it feels like I'm having something really special! That helps somewhat!

It's bed time for me now, so hope you all have a great night's sleep! Mine has improved somewhat, so I guess it definitely suffers when I have a lot on my mind!! Well, I've taken as much as I can off my mind, so hopefully I will also get a good nights sleep!

Vee

Week 9 Day 7

I've been taking care of some of the issues that I think were causing me to sleep badly, and it seems to have made a huge difference. Last night I had a pretty good sleep!!
I think the other half not getting up at 4.30am every morning has also contributed to better sleep!! (He is recovering from a knee op, so is home for the rest of the week).

For the rest, I'm toddling along quite well on my program. I've been trying out some of the recipes and been enjoying them.

My head is still buzzing with all the extra information that I have been listening to and reading, but that has only been in limited amounts due to the study load.

I'm still flat out with study and assignment stuff, so only a very short post today.

Hope everyone is cruisin'!

Vee

Hi Vee

Glad to hear you're sleeping better, and you've got some big decisions (or at least the job one) done and dusted. Good luck with the study and exams - what are you studying?

Your determination and attitude are inspiring

I'm sure having hubby not getting up at 4:30 must help with the sleep, Vee. I know I'd have trouble getting back to sleep at that time.

Hope the assignments and study are going well.

geez vee, i wish i had got to your diary earlier....

one of the things i do quite a lot of in my current job is academic counselling...and by far the most common situation i find is people are doing too much....so my standard answer these days is ... there are 168hrs in a week...we sleep for at least 50 of those....if your studying full time thats at least another 40hrs...then there is everything one does in life and we must, and i mean must, have down time....in fact the amount of quality down time for a full time student correlates to your grades....

so definately you have made the right decision...absolutely no doubt....and as far as your reputation goes i am pretty sure others will be impressed that you know how to prioritise, you know how to set personal boundaries and you know how to say no....all good as far as professional reputations go...

and on top of all this you are blitzing your diet....another bloody over achiever...i swear this place is full of them....

Hi there!

Thanks LIM, Stoddy, AJ and Tracey! It's busy, but I'm managing to get some work done. It just doesn't feel like very much though!

Thanks for dropping in Penny! Ummmm ... overachiever... me? I don't think so. Just wanted something really bad and so when the opportunity presented itself, I took it! I'm studying a Bachelor of Information Technology, and I'm not that far off finishing. Thanks for your words about what you would have counselled me to do! It makes me feel good that I recognised what I needed to do and did it. Thanks!! Hugz!

Hey Barb!!
Well done!! I checked out your pics and you are changing so much! What a huge difference!! You must be so proud of yourself! And you did it in one month!!!
It truly is most noticeable when you look at those photos. I know I keep going to mine to check out the difference!!
And look at the kgs you have dropped!! Almost 15kgs!! That is so radical!!

Cya
