Default Re: Annabelle Joy's diary

Just over a month ago I reached my lowest weight, the one in my ticker. Ever since, I've been trying to get back to it (and lower). This morning I was back at my lowest weight. Today is pizza day and DH has made us both a pea pizza so tomorrow I'll have spiked up and have to work back down again. Why is it so much easier to add grams than to remove them?

I have been struggling to use my CPAP machine for some months. The last few nights it has been working for me. Unfortunately, I'm not noticing any improvements in levels of fatigue yet. I'm still hoping that will come.

I feel your pain AJ! It is way easier to add grams than remove them. Come on - we can do this! The weekends are always the hardest for me and with your pizza day it seems like it is for you too. Just a little bit more discipline and we will continue losing and then it should be easier to maintain - well in theory anyway.

Don't lose heart AJ - I know you can get back to goal - I've seen you do it before and I'm with you - we can do this together!

This is my fifth attempt at posting a reply. My computer keeps crashing.

Thanks for the encouragement Louise. The idea of giving up hadn't occurred to me and I doubt that DH would permit it. I don't have a goal in mind, other than a lot further along than I am at the moment.

I'm down another couple of hundred grams today, still not breaking into new lows but very close. We went for a slightly longer walk this morning which seems to have sapped me of energy. My CPAP machine worked well last night so I'm getting used to using it. So far, no improvement in energy levels during the day. I've only just mastered it so there might be after a week or two. I've never been optimistic about the effect it will have but will be disappointed if there's not an improvement.

Blood pressure is down and I've already given up one of the medications.

All the best everyone. Just stick with it and you will achieve your goal.

Much the same report as yesterday. Down another grams, which makes the total since I started exactly 10 kgs. There's no doubt in my mind that a daily walk helps with the weight loss. I lose when I have a walk, and plateau when I don't. I don't try to walk quickly, just at a comfortable pace which seems more like a wander than a walk.

I'm sleeping well but so far not noticing any benefit from the CPAP machine.

Have a good day everyone.

WTG AJ on reaching your 10kg loss!! That's fantastic

It's good to hear that you're sleeping well and that the CPAP machine is working well.

Onward and downward!

We're going out to lunch today, to a restaurant so at least I can choose the option that seems the best in terms of maintaining current losses. Currently, I'm sitting at my low point so not wanting to go backwards too far. DH keeps reminding me how long it takes to remove anything I add back on.

Today I'm feeling dizzy when I stand. I'm putting this down to low blood pressure due to kilos lost.

Louise, the CPAP machine went back yesterday. The trial period had run out and there were no benefits that I could see to keeping it. I'm not due to see the specialist until the end of the month. I'll see what he advises and may get it back again then.

I'm wearing a blouse that's not too big but when I last wore it was stretching at the seams. Today it's a little loose, not so much that it's obvious I've lost weight but much more comfortable. One of the joys of weight loss is fitting back into clothes I've outgrown.

As expected, up a couple of hundred grams today. Not too bad for a very pleasant lunch. I had two entrees and some of DH's dessert and was tempted by some bread and butter, which was delicious. I chose what I thought were the lowest calorie entrees. I woke up feeling dizzy, so had no difficulty avoiding the alcohol and drank diet coke.

It sounds like you did well at the restaurant AJ and congratulations on the blouse feeling more comfy!

I hope your dizziness passes soon and that your body finds its balance again.

Here's to a good week of losing!

A big loss today, if I read it correctly. It's so big, I'm not sure I did. It may be that the larger than usual meal the other day helped and my body is comfortable that I won't let it starve and is letting go. I might have an opportunity to confirm this as we are going out to lunch again today, although I don't intend having a large meal.
Dizziness has largely gone today. My blood pressure is very low. I see the doctor again on Friday I think so she might remove more of my medication.

Not too sure about my weight this morning. It was either the same as yesterday or up 800 gms, probably the latter. Yesterday I had a warm seafood salad and a glass of wine for lunch, so not to far off diet except with weights and the wine.
This morning I saw my doctor for a regular appointment. She was very positive about what I've lost so far, indicated that was all I needed to do for now. I'll keep going. Blood pressure is down, she says my skin and eyes are much clearer, and a loss of more than 10% of my weight almost cuts out the chances of the diseases associated with extra weight--stroke, heart attack, diabetes, etc.
All good.

Down again this morning, almost 11 kilos gone. I spent six weeks in a holding pattern, up a little, down a little. At last it's started to move. Today we are having visitors for pizza so up tomorrow morning. When I add a bit, as I will, it's usually gone again quickly. My doctor would be happy if I stayed at my current weight. I won't though. I have a wardrobe full of clothes that are too small that I want to start wearing again.

Hey Annabelle Joy

I have just come back on to the Forum, doing my 2nd Official Cohen's Program (even though I may seem to be unofficially channeling Dame Nellie Melba with all my return performances!!!)

As a result of having a New Program I have actually been reading the Program Information .... now! Who would have thought!

On my Maintenance Program back in 2006 there was quite a bit about when and how to eat carbohydrates

I don't have the Maintenance folder handy (it is in a box somewhere), but you probably have yours in daily use: If I recall correctly doesn't eating protein with, but preferably ahead of, the carbohydrate protect against the insulin surge = it ain't necessarily so that eating some pizza for dinner will mean weighing more, tomorrow!

We know that starving ourselves makes things worse, but the general Maintenance Rules will protect us from the spikes between the weekly weighing that is more addictive than jelly beans ever were!!!

Why not try eating an egg or some plain chicken about an hour before your guests arrive, or make appropriate protein based hors d'oeuvres (mini chicken shashlik, devilled eggs wrapped in baby spinach leaves, even cheese and celery on toothpicks?) to nibble before the Main Event slides out of the wood fired oven?

Hope this helps
Lotsa love
Kristine

Down 400 gms this morning and a new low point. We're having visitors today for a pizza lunch so expecting a rise tomorrow. I'm finding that the grams gained now go quickly. I'm feeling very happy with today's progress.

Yesterday I had two glasses of wine, a reasonably generous helping of pizza and some fruit and ice cream. Today I'm up just 200 gms. Back to following the rules today and feeling very pleased there's only 200 gms to remove. I do try to do as Kristine says and have some protein before carbohydrate, or any time I won't be following my diet plan. I didn't yesterday as there wasn't any to eat.
I'm hungry at the moment, DH is preparing my lunch. I had a specialist appointment this morning and they were running an hour late. Waiting for my Cajun chicken on salad. It's my favorite lunch and I have it most days. I make a simple dressing for the salad with a bit of cider vinegar diluted with water and a generous squirt of stevia. It's quite sweet but that seems to counteract the spiciness of the Cajun.

Up 200 gms this morning, no doubt the effects of the pizza on Sunday. I'm very pleased at how well my body managed the deviations. Out for lunch again today. All these deviations pretty much puts me back to normal eating. I hope everyone else is managing better.
