Hi all,

Re the "gaunt" comment - it is NOT a given - it happens to some, and not to others. Main thing is to "expect it if you see it", and don't stress about it.

If you don't see it, don't stress about that either !!! Some lose hair on the plan - others don't. Some get the lower back pain near refeed, others don't. Some get no weightloss in WEEKS near refeed, others don't. Some get to looking a little gaunt, others don't. Some get near refeed, others don't.

Cohens seems to be a VERY individual journey, with some similarities of symptoms - some of which might apply to you..... but maybe not all.

Let your journey be your journey (and check any things of concern to you with your clinic - or your Doc) - you can't do better than that,

Koh

Hi Jo,
Firstly I agree with Koh, we may share the same journey but have different reactions and outcomes to each other.

Men. they seem to know when to ruin our plans. lol.
Hope hubby's back is ok.

Hi Jo glad that school was good to you. I think the break just makes people notice more quickly about our weightloss hey....

I am sure the ones that dont comment and could do with it are not jelous (maybe a bit) but just not ready hey and dont know what to say.

Lets just focus on the ones that are positive to us...I have few friends atm who could and knowing them feel that this would be ideal for them but hey when people want the teacher to appear to learn the lesson it usually does... For me thats how it worked.

You have done amazing. With everything that has gone on in your life. Big congrats to you.

Have a beautiful day.

Greetings all (kisses)

Hubby is home for the rest of the week (sigh) and I have to take him back to the Doc on Monday. Even the Doc couldn't figure out what the heck he had done to himself. Nothing skeletal, no nerve damage, all muscular...he thinks. So hubby is dosed up to the eyeballs, anti-inflam, pain killers and..........valium. I think that is pretty funny, he keeps falling asleep. I had it after an op years ago and I felt like a zombie, he seems to be coping a little better but not much.

I have just baked chocolate chip cookies, rock cakes and choc mud muffins for the boychild. Nothing for me though (sigh). Hubby has tested and confirmed their excellence.

OK now for answers.................

BAM - I am 170cm tall and on a scales of 1-10.....ummmmmmmmm happiness within myself (not counting the hubby and the face) I would say.......8 1/2. With my weight.............probably 8 1/2. Give me 8 weeks and ask again, after I have had a nice relaxing holiday and my weight is pretty much where it should be it should be much better. I will be happier when I can go back to work, hopefully on Friday.

Kay - Time alone with your hubby??? What is that again??? Oh hang on I remember I am having it right now, with the zombie, silly me. Good for you, I love hanging with my hubby, alone.

Mette - Stuff Kevin Rudd, my family are keeping this economy going, doctors, drugs, schools etc etc. I was really hoping that this year was going to be luckier than last year, my fingers are still firmly crossed.

CC - I am squeezing a few minutes to myself right now, I think he has just gone to bed. I must admit that it was abit of a buzz people commenting on how great I looked and asking how I did it. I was feeling pretty damned good about myself. I hear you about the computer eating stuff, happens to me way toooo often.

Vee - He is being a man about being in pain, of course. I am helping where I can and then staying out of the way, its about all I can do. I am booking in a nice quiet day for next Thursday, it's the next chance I will get (heavy sigh).

Koh - I am not stressing about the whole gaunt thing, don't worry. I am working on the whole "whatever will be, will be" theory. I like to read the forums just to find out the possibilities.

Michele - Did I sound like I was stressing or something?? It was just a comment I read, and it was one I had seen before. My boney chicken chest is more of a worry than a skinny face (let's face it, I can't see that happening either ).

Maria - Things have been a little trying recently but nothing worse than I have been through before. I could have lived without the surgeries though..really. Well actually no, I couldn't have lived long without them, who am I kidding. The last 8kg should make some big changes physically though, hopefully to the thighs , I can't actually see too many places where fat is gathering. My poor bum feels soft and empty . I was once told I had the perfect peach shaped butt, alas it is no more.

Just checked hubby, he is lying on the lounge floor reading. I tried this the other day and my bones ached. Hips especially, excess padding now gone (well alot of it).

Must go read diaries

Kisses

Jo

No drawing on your husband while he's asleep! (wait, was that your idea or mine?) Hope he feels better soon!

I bet you and hubby still have some good quality, quiet time together!
There is nothing better than looking after each other!
Brings you all closer together as a family!

Yes, I'm looking to see on myself if losing those last few kgs makes a big difference as well. Can't say I see it yet. But then I'm probably being my usual impatient self!

Greetings all

(hubby snoring in the background and he says the valium don't work )

Hubby is feeling and moving abit better today, even came to the shops for a quick grocery shop this morning. He is not a man who is used to doing nothing so I think he is going a little stir-crazy.

Alex is happy as a clam at school, back with his little friends and has the 2 best teachers in the school (his opinion and I am going with it). All is well in his world. I double dog dared him to jump in the pool this morning and do 10 laps straight after breakfast. He did it gotta love the little monkey.

Do you want to know what I really miss?? I miss eating out on the weekends, grabbing some fish and chips at the beach, or a quick curry on the way home. Going to Sizzler for a late lunch so that we don't have to cook dinner. The treat ice-cream after a school victory. I realized that food is how we celebrate in this family, it is how we spend time to enjoy each others company. I haven't had a leisurely breakfast with my family (usually at the Calamvale Hotel) since...........I don't even remember when. My family, knowing my food issues, doesn't seem to invite us anymore. They go down to Manly for lunch (not invited), Sizzler for lunch (not invited), dinner at my brothers house (not invited but for other reasons I suspect). We have been put in "eating isolation" ggrrrrrrrrrrrr. OK I admit I am wary about eating out but I am sure I would cope but no-one wants to put temptation in my path. Sweet but a touch annoying.

Vee - my armpits are doing that cavern thing that makes it hard to shave. And you can see the muscles in my arms working but unfortunately the batwings are still swinging in the breeze. I will work on it.

Take care everyone (fat busting hugs)

Jo

Yep, we celebrate everything with eating........ It's part of society and I reckon a big part of the reason we gain so much weight. And of course when you eat out, it usually tastes so lovely that you overeat! Well that's my problem, I know!

I have eaten at Sizzlers on the program and kept to the program, so that is doable, it is just a bit expensive paying for a full blown meal when you only eat a kids portion. I guess your family is only leaving you out as a sign of respect for your wishes, but then again, they could also invite you and check that the venue/food suits you too, so that you are not excluded! Perhaps you need to let them know how you feel about it!

Glad to hear hubby's back is improving! Has to be a good sign!
I too have that shaving prob, but hadn't really noticed until you mentioned it! LOL
Re the batwings, my son told me "seriously, Mum, you could take off from the Storey Bridge and fly home!" Such a lovely son! I had to laugh! I'm also working on them!

Hope your day is great with your extra company!

Vee

Hey Jo - great to hear that hubby is slowly getting up and about. Sorry to hear about your family outing woes - I hope that once you feel you can take your food with you and just eat what you know you can that you'll just talk to them and say you'd love (if that's true) to spend time in their company even if you don't eat what they do.

I've been true to my promise to you and haven't weighed since we had that chat - look forward to tomorrow weigh in for the week (and hope to have good news - but if not still know my body is slowly changing shape - my next pair of jeans to fit into is getting easier and easier to do up - I reckon a couple of weeks and I'll be in them comfortably and looking forward to the next size down).

Cheers - Kay.

Greetings

Hubby is up and about. Naughty fellow was whippersnippering when I came home from work today. He said he was bored sh!tless so he decided to fix the lawn. Idiot!!! Men are just hopeless.

OK people I am constipated. Just thought I would let you know. Have tried drinking more (already drinking heaps), nope. I am still eating normal fruit amount (2), nope. Tried phyllsum (can't spell it) nothing. Nice long walk (just made me hungry) grrrrrrrrrr, nope. Tummy hurts.......currently have heat pack on it. Am considering laxettes (yes, I know, very un-Cohens) but I am desparate. And it's weigh in tomorrow and I am currently choc-o-block full of cr*p. Sorry to be so graffic but I am miserable.

Will keep you updated on ALL developments after I weigh in tomorrow.

How much psyllium are you actually taking? I take about 2-4 tbs in my yoghurt and apple in the morning, and find it is helping me. You could always try some yoga poses, I tried doing some gentle yoga to get back into light exercise, and boy, did it stimulate my bowels, it stimulated them 3 times!!!! I think that downward dog pose had a lot to do with it! It was a routine for increasing energy, well energy was not increased except in the bowel area!!

Hope you got things moving in time for your weigh in, and that you lost a big pile of butter!!!

Vee

Jo, Im sorry Ive been a bit missing in action of late. But might I say I was very pleased to see you are feeling 8 1/2 out out of 10 and so you should, even though you are not at goal I get you are looking absolutely fantastic, though last few kgs are just the finishing touches!

Apples are good for constipation, sometimes drinking a glass of hot water can give things an extra kick along as well. Good luck with it, just look on the bright side, once you get moving, you might see the scales drop a bit more!

Sorry I didnt wear the red dress, but I decided I didnt want my workmates looking at that much cleavage, I felt really good in the black dress and it was very fitted so still showed off the new curves or rather lack of! I told my bf he has to take me out somewhere nice for dinner after refeed and Ill wear it there. If I progress uneventfully I will finish refeed valentines day, so I thought that might be a nice excuse to go out to dinner in a sexy red dress! Am I excused?

If boredom means your hubby starts whippersnipping , that sounds good to me, I wish my bf would get that bored!

Good luck with the weigh in today - I have everything crossed for you!

Greetings all

The crisis has passed , no more to add on that subject.

The scales were down 900grms this morning so I am fairly happy. Hubby pointed out to me that I am getting closer to being a 60's girl. I hadn't really realized it until he said it. WOW

Now for the really exciting news. I happened to be at Indooroopilly this morning and Myer has designer dresses (eg Wayne Cooper etc ) for $50. Great I thought I will look for something for the cruise. I grabbed one size 14 and one size 12. The 14 was tooooo big and the 12 fitted beautifully. You could have blown me over with a feather. I didn't like either of them enough to buy but just the fact they fitted (especialy the 12) made my day.

But I did buy some new undies (not monkeys undies ) just the sort that I had dreams of, bright colours and hipsters too, which I always avoided because of my belly. No belly now boys and girls.

Louise - I have an apple every morning and I had tried the hot water trick, it didn't work this time, normally does though. He ended up mowing too and went to bed before 9.30pm. He has stopped taking the valium and restarted taking the pain killers....currently lying on the couch, not too bad at least he is off the floor. I hope your BF does take you somewhere nice for Valentines Day, you deserve it. My 19th wedding anniversary in on the 10th of Feb so we don't do Valentines we do the anniversary instead. Probably won't do anything though this year but next year we plan to do something really special for 20 years.

Vee - My belly hurt too much to be shoving it in the air and pointing it at the ceiling. But thanks for trying, all is ok now.

Now to go read what everyone has been up to
Kisses

Jo

Hey pretty lady! Finally got some time to catch up with your diary! Glad to hear your hubby is doing better! I hope he'll be all fixed in time for your anniversary, even if the really big one isn't until next year. It would still be good for you guys to be able to do something together this year too.
Good on you for being so close to the 60s! A hop, a skip and a jump and you'll be there!
Sending you lots of hugs and positive energy to melt that fat away! Soon you won't fit in a size 12 designer dress! You'll be a perfect 10!

Jo trying on clothes is a great sport when your losing, even without buying, its does wonders for the ego - I have to confess its my new favorite hobby, though Im probably settling a bit more now that my weight seems to be stabilising. Feb 10 seems like a much better date to celebrate to avoid the valentine crowds! Isnt it lovely to buy those great hipsters and feel good in them, some lovely colours available just now!

Roll on the 60s your getting so close to refeed!

Hey Jo,

Glad to hear the crisis has passed and that all is well in the bowel dept again!
How cool is it that you are fitting into size 12???? It's an awesome feeling, isn't it?

Keep going well!
