Default Re: Bread / crackers question?

Hi Missy,

My understanding from my meeting today is that you only 'add' to the orginal plan when it says "add." which my plan doesn't for crackers. I stay at the equivalent of 5 crackers for the first third of the plan then work up to 9. I don't think you have your normal cracker allocation plus extra bread and crackers. When it discusses carbohydrates I don't think it means bread, I think it means the pasta & rice etc, not crackers and bread as they are in a different category.
It's very very confusing though.

Very confusing!
In my refeed the extra crackers are listed under carbohydrate in my refeed plan. Maybe they have changed that?If they did that would make it clearer.

It makes sense that the bread completely replaces crispbread... Makes you realise how nasty it is, compared to precious crackers. Haha

Hey Missy, On mine there are the rules and then in the other section called following your refeed program point number 2 says
HAVE ONLY the quantity of carbohydrates indicated on each day of your refeeding, The carbohydrates on your refeeding are instead of not additional to the crispbread allowed on your original program.

I had 5 crispbreads on my original plan and so with the rule
1 slice of bread = 3 crispbreads it means that when I reach the stage of being allowed to have 3 slices of bread I could have 3x3 (9) crispbreads instead of the bread.

So to me it sounds like if yours says to add the quantity of carbohydrates on your refeeding plan then you add them to the original.... bear in mind though that my plan is from 2005 so maybe get a few others to check what theirs say as well... just to be sure to be sure to be sure!

Hi Missy
The way I read my refeed program was the same way you have read it and that is why I asked this question in the first place but everyone come back and told me the bread was in place of the crackers so I went with that but really thought that the bread was on top of the original plan, so I am still confused to what it should be and I think they should be wording it a bit better. Wonder if it is the way people are interpreting it or if any one really knows what it means. Even though I have finished and followed the plan that it was in place of the crackers I still read my program and believe it should be the other way that the bread is on top of the original plan allowances.

Hi Missy,
Sorry I am not reading properly, they are under crackers but on day one it says have the 5 crackers you are allocated as part of your normal plan. I don't think that it's extra.

Mm, it's just written extremely badly, Eloise! At no point ever in my refeed does it say to disregard your usual cracker allowance... and also, I think it is a silly error on their part... I mean, how am I supposed to know that usual crackers get dropped but your usual fruit allowance doesn't, if it doesn’t say so clearly??? tsk tsk to the plan 'interpreters'!!!

ALSO... After reading and re-reading my plan 20,000 times, mine clearly says ALL food must be eaten... FULL old plan (unless it says otherwise, as in when it says minus grams off old pro/veg) AND ALL new refeed food... whereas on the forum I have read not to keep eating if you feel full, and to drop old stuff before dropping new stuff... According to my plan that is not the right way to go about refeed. It says everything is calculated exactly and must be adhered to. 100%. Just like the original plan was.

Sorry to harp on about it, but this has gotten me very frustrated.

Wendy... Did you notice that I answered your question the first time??... Only, seeing as I was confused then as I am now, I answered it thinking I was saying what others were saying, when in fact I wasn't... I was saying the crackers are extra (I said I was eating 3 pieces and bread and one salada serve, which is technically 10 serves of crackers)... I feel quite daft to be honest! BUT, it's too late now for me to a) go back to the first time I did refeed (obviously), and b) limit my crackers now... I am trying it as I type, and it's AWFUL... I am hungry hungry HUNGRY, so if I want/need them later I will chose to continue having the extra crackers... as my weight is stabilising and it stabilised when I did refeed last time too. Basically, I am just fast forwarding to the MAX amount of carbs right from day one- so I don't think the consequence is as bad as I imagined... I was so distressed yesterday, but my weight is still okay.

Default Re: Bread / crackers question?

My consultant said on the day in refeed where I am allowed 1 bread + 2 crispbread, is that the bread replaces my 3 crispbread + the original 2 crispbread. My allowance per plan is 5 crackers a day. As refeed goes on, I am allowed up to 3 slices of bread or 9 crackers. However, she said, if I chose to eat crackers, I am only supposed to have 2 at a time.

Sometimes these rules are so confusing. I think the consultants sometimes do not get the directions of Dr. C right. I hope we are doing as Dr. C intends us to do it.

I spoke to my consultant and she says that you don't add them on. if you have 1 slice of bread and 2 cb it is in place of your original allowance.

But it would be nice

Hi Winkiedo, just want to reconfirm: so if I opt for 9 crackers a day instead of bread, I have to take them 2 at a time?

Hi Candidro,

My consultant said that if I was to have the crackers instead of the bread, I should eat three at once.

Cheers

you can trade off....3 crackers = 1 piece of bread......personally I wouldn't trade but hey I am going back on plan so whom am I to say.....if you like bread your luck of holding a good weight is limited........

Default Re: Bread / crackers question?

Are you still confused Relles - ask me a specific question and I will try to answer - it has only been a year since I did refeed...... .....

In general, when you first are allowed bread (1st or 2nd day usually), you have to exchange 3x crackers of your original allowance. So my allowance was 5 crackers, when I had 1 slice of bread I could have also have 2 crackers on the same day.

I contacted my consultant, and when I was allowed 8x crackers (or 2 bread and 2 crackers) she suggested I still eat 2 at a time, 4 times a day and 2.5 hours apart. When my allowance went up to 9 crackers (3x bread), her recommendation was to have crackers 3 at a time, 3 x a day, 2.5 hours apar (if I was only having crackers instead of bread). I hope I am recalling correctly - I can check if you have specific questions.

Actually Mcbell, that is perfectly explained! I was reading through right from the start of the thread and getting more confused. You put it pretty simply. Thanks.

Don't worry Relles - soon you will have your refeed programme in your hot little hands and it will all make a lot more sense. Your consultant will go through it with you too. I had an appointment before I started (only because I delayed starting), one at the 10 day mark, and one on the last day of refeed......(although let's not mention my foray into post-refeed land - can't really call it "management" or "maintenance" because I didn't give it a chance).

Personally I found bread utterly disappointing when I tried it in refeed. Was so excited and it was a really letdown LOL. I went back to crackers. Now in maintenance the only bread I have is very occasional sourdough - it has to be awesome or I don't bother
