Today, i had a super early start. Earlier than i can function, i must say but i had an egg salad and cucumber for bfast and a turkey steak and cucumber for lunch. Now it's time for my last meal but i (again) don't feel like eating or cooking. Somewhere there must be a good forum entry on skipping meals so it would knock sense into me to cook when i get home. 😕 |

Re: My personal journey to living
Hi there! I'm new to the group and it was my day 1 today, new here but not new to Cohens.... Sometimes I don't like cooking dinner either and knowing this I used to plan my days where I would switch the meals around and have my breakfast for dinner. So basically just some natural yoghurt with a fruit for dinner, quick and easy Happy birthday and well done on sticking to the program the best you could on your day!

Hi mesmer! Happy birthday to you, too!!!! Such strength to bring your own food i succumbed to eating "outside" food. Hehe. Weakling. Lol.
Recipe for today is a zucchini casserole/ pizza. Layer sliced zucchini, mushrooms, tomato and basil with mozzarella with the cheese your last layer. It's yummy!! Try the chicken burger- you don't need a processor actually, you can use ground chicken but it will be a bit crumbly. Try putting crackers as your binder. happy eating on your birthday! |

Ok.. im about to be convinced about cheese.. i did find philadelphia fat free here, but still contemplating whether to have em or not as i dont think it is filling, but that zucchini pizza sounds delish... did you layer the zucchini on you crispbreads?
Chicken burger for next week-- check!

Hi mesmer! Philadelphia is cream cheese, di ata allowed. Hehe. I used mozarella, ungrated kasi there are starches daw to keep it from sticking. I didn't have tomatoes at hand for my pizza/lasagna would have been better. I ate it with crispbreads. I avoid baking on top of crackers cause they seem to get soggy really fast so just had it on the side. I'm having chicken burger again today.

Re: My personal journey to living
oo sabi ng consulatant ko its allowed daw.. i havent tried it yet though. I feel like I wouldnt be so full as compared to having an egg in the morning or a full meal.. i mean.. i always have some solid proteins in all my meals pre-Cohen. Usually its always chicken and egg..
so yah.. will try that sometime! what brand of ricotta cheese do you use? coz I cant find one here? the low fat version.. or maybe i just missed it.. the cheese aisle is confusing!!

We are allowed regular ricotta even if not low fat. Check also with your consultant. Im already imagining what i can do with Philadelphia!! Mushroom and cream cheese! Cauliflower soup! Real cream cheese tarts! Drool!!!! I can't remember the brand of ricotta i use, but it comes in a tub cause its soft cheese.

Ok.. I've been thinking. Can i call myself deviation free is i skip a meal?
So I've been sharing about being to tired or sleepy to have my last meal? It's obvious i didn't follow the plan, but is it really a deviation? Or, is that really any much better than having a bite of cake or a latte? 😕 I'm having my last meal now, but i was about to exclaim that I've been deviation free, but doubted that i was/am. Oh well.. Today i had egg salad and chicken burger both with allowance of cucumber since i got the crispest salad cucumbers and i couldn't be bothered to cook! Lol. Tonight it's shrimp and mushroom sauteed in garlic, basil and chili flakes. I'll have a mango for dessert! I skipped my last cracker and other fruit today. |

Re: My personal journey to living
Hi there,
I don't have much 'time' to cook my own meals or to have the energy to do anything too fancy with them, all I do for pretty much every single meal is just a quick salad with my protein or a 'stir fry' with veggies and protein. I keep my veggies readily sliced in a container so that makes it quicker too. I am as lazy as it gets for my meals |

Hi Soleil! Thanks for the tip! Won't cutting up veggies beforehand make them wilt? Where do you store them to keep it fresh?

Re: My personal journey to living
I just have enough to last about a day and a half and keep in a Tupperware like container. Stays fresh no problems although funny I commented on this post yesterday as I have now woken up with fever and cold and looks like I'm missing my lunch, just can't get up and do it

Re: My personal journey to living
Just learnt this about skipping meals: " It is vital to at least eat your 3 protein meals - the body cant not switch into fat burning mode without it. You could get away without eating fruit and crackers but yep it is vital to eat those 3 meals otherwise your hormones wont balance and you will have poor weightloss..."

I am cutting up veggies as soon as i wake up! Thanks, soleil!
Hi mesmer, i know it's not allowed, but by the time i get home, its 1am and i just want to sleep! when i skipped my last meal that time, i didn't feel anything the next day but i drank water immediately and had my first meal. Tonight, i had a different dilemma- i took a nap when i got home and woke up past 3:30. So again, not wanting to cook, but having read about not skipping meals since we need the protein to burn fat- i decided to have some left over food from the family dinner. Thankfully it was oven roast chicken... And no one eats the breast so that's what i had. It was slightly over-seasoned for my cohen-adjusted taste so i took a smaller portion than how i know it to be- i didn't weigh it as it was cooked. So it was an inch strip of chicken breast attached to the bone from top of the breast to around 2/3 before the cartilage part. Like that i read, better to have the protein than skipping the meal. I am just giving myself an hour and a half maybe before i sleep again. I need to look for quicker ways to get that last meal. Above is a suggestion of yogurt and fruit (mental note to buy yogurt). I read about freezing soup- so i will try to make some batches of creamy cauliflower soup and freeze it. Maybe I'll roast some chicken of my own and store it for easy dinners. Gotta get smarter with this... Thanks ladies for the tip and nudge. |
