Happy Greetings and Best Wishes to all,

I have had a great week with no deviations or hungry feelings and I have had a heap of energy to add to it - the days have been warm with those cool nights - and with that my vegetable garden has kicked along. We have started using the spinach and lettuce leafs - five minutes from plant to mouth almost - it is so fresh and nice with prawns it just makes my day. We use the new tender leaves at night as well and I can only say to every one - make a garden or buy some pots and stick a punnet of lettuce or spinach in them and use them like you use herbs.

I have read every post that has been written and it is a real inspiration as well as lots of tips that come from it. All you girls could be sisters - you all sound like the three sisters that I have - chatting away about everything and in doing so giving everyone the most trusted and special support that they need. Keep up the good work!! Its keeps everyone else doing well and also look after yourselves whilst at it. Some of you have your hands full with husbands and children – my advice is let them fall out of the nest a bit and preen yourselves for your husband’s/boyfriends/partners and let the kids learn to stand. Each of you are doing this for them as well as yourselves and they need to understand and support you not make it harder add more work to it.

I welcome all the new persons and wish them well - it’s a great programme and really works so long as you stick to it. The weight does come off and I don't think it matters how much water as long as you are drinking more than 2 1/2 litres and using the kidneys to flush the toxins and fat waste products out. It is amazing how you soon adapt to the water change especially coming into summer. I have found myself easily drinking 6 litres each day out here in Western Queensland when I'm on the road or just working in the garden so I think as long as your body is not wanting but needing drink at least 2 litres per day.

Usually by the time I have lost 15 kgs I am starving and foot sore and sick of it and then head out to the pub and have a mixed grill and 10 rums. But this time I am not even thinking that way nor do I have any inclination of doing just that. As the results are come in and I can see the runs on the board it makes me more determined to keep heading for those double figures and getting back down to be a 70's man.

That utility belt of mine needs to be adjusted daily and I will need to order another be for much longer - they has Velcro adjustments and I am running out of room for all the bits that live on it as they only fir one thickness of the actual belt and as I double each end back the attachments need to move back - soon they will be behind me!!!! - makes it hard to sit in a car with a heap of junk on your belt behind you rather than to the side.

Any way had better head off and get ready to go to get this blood test at the Doctors surgery - the doctor (also my mate) also checks everything out and thinks this programme is just great. He especially likes the fact that you can eat kangaroo meat on it - but not for me. We have a roo works here in town so I could get the best kangaroo meat available but we also have a butchers shop with better beef and I'll stick with that and the chicken I think for now.

All the best and I look forward to all the good news and weight drops for all this week.

Andy - well down the track after four weeks and 15 kgs plus less.

Hello to all you hard workers on this forum.
What a great and wonderful day for all the people on the Cohen’s Lifestyle Plan- well it really is for most of us – if we are 100% true to our selves - as we move along to our goal weights. I started the day and the month with a 2.7 kg loss of weight – and I am very thankful for that. Some people somewhere who are not on this programme looked at their scales and went “What a downer I have put on 2.7 kg’s” but not me as I am 100 % on schedule to get to where I want to be.
So the start of week 6 is all good and go go go.
I have had a long philosophical week. I have posted more than ever in my life and been totally addicted to cheeking the forum every time I walked near the computer – that’s the trouble with a 24/7 connection – I just had to have a look and see where everyone else was at. So good to see the progress of every one and I promise I won’t post so much this week.
My garden is booming and as the nights warm it’s taking off. I hope we get a bit rain soon to boost it along – we have no water restrictions like all the city dwellers and can use water as we see fit. It is great to be eating your own vegies that you have grown and the Bock Choy and spinach have taken off so well - as have the lettuce which is great for lunch.
I just love the way al my clothes are starting to flap about like flags in the wind and I feel so good. Will have to order a new utility belt this week - or use an old one for a while until I get down more - will nail that one to the back door to remind myself how big I got !!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone reading this has a good week and your goals become a real part of your life and you achieve achieve achieve – all the best and stay focused on the job you are all doing for better lifestyle.

Thanks SOS for the kind words. I nodded them yesterday more than any other day since I started five weeks ago!!!!!!!

I had a shocker yesterday after a great start I went flat - couldn't get focused - got nothing done that I had to do and needed to do, stopped drinking water and then had a huge headache that made my head feel about "ten foot round" - got very cranky and couldn't go to sleep - but today I have started off with a positive outlook and some reflection on yesterday to "pick me up" - it also was hot day with a bit of humidity in the air which is all against me. I think the adjustments to body and mind are really a part of weight lose and we just need to deal with it - look for the triggers as they come and get a hold of it before it damages our way of thinking.
It was a real test that 01/10/07 day!!!!!!!

Andy

Hi Andy46,

I think you have just answered a question that was posted not so long back about men, emotions, hormones and their weight loss.

Glad to hear today is starting off better. Can be a real downer when things are against us all day and then you can't sleep into the bargain so its still with you.

Have a walk and a chat with those lovely veges in your garden and I'm sure you will find it a good place to be.

You must be feeling like a new man not having to carry those extra kg's around any more. Keep up the fantastic work.

Melissa

Today so far has been a good day - my meals a bit late but way better than yesterday - and I sorted something out that was getting to me so it’s even better. As I am away from home for tonight I have stuck % 100 and not gone out to tea with the boys but chose to stay and be with on of my sons who works in this town. He can't believe that I am not with the other blokes and not drinking and having a night out (LOL) but can understand as he loves his Dad and knows how much it means for me to get the weight off.

Any way lesson learnt and alls good.

Andy

Congrats on your continued success Andy. If you didn't get cranky before maybe it is a delayed reaction. I know I was really crabby the first 2 weeks in. Hubby even told me to go move in with my mom. A few days later I was fine. I could only contribute it too feeling I was deprived. I have been fine since other than the normal crabbyness us woman get at certian times.
Have a good visit with the son.

Thanks Pudge and Melissa,

It is all about getting your mind right as well as sticking to the programme - I haven’t looked back since Monday but it was a lesson learnt and the more lessons the better to handle it next time I reckon. Anyway summers hit Western Qld and the air con is working overtime. I just love the way when I put on a shirt I haven’t worn for a while because it was a bit clingy and now it fits good. I have worked out I am back to about 2004 - 2005 weight - just by the cloths in the cupboard and when I last wore them. Luckily I didn't donate them as I’ll need them no doubt - even if it is for a couple of weeks.
My measurements are all over the place – haven’t moved some gone up some gone down – the old body must think its back playing football and getting a belting again!!!! No bruises or sore joints though!!!!!!!

Good to see so many new faces and activity on line - takes me a while to read them all now - suppose every ones getting in before summer and Christmas.

Good work everyone - keep at it - and it will happen for you.

Andy

Hey Andy,

I was thinking about you today when talking to someone that has recently been OS for a month and said that they had suffered bad cramps.

I was very surprised to hear her say that after looking up on the internet that she learnt that in her case it was a calcuim deficency as they hadn't had dairy all the time they were there. Having a smoothie from an Aussie store fixed the problem.

Just in case you are still suffering. Her recommendation was to look up muscle cramps.

I bet it is warm out west. Here it was 33 today and very humid.

G’day Melissa,

Yes that’s right I reckon about calcium as well but I spoke to my mate the Dr here and he said to look at magnesium the same as you said about what your husband had said - and I also went to some sites about "cramps" and found that as well - the internet is marvellous - when I was a kid we waited for the RFDS clinic or went on the two way and asked on the medical call - how times have changed in 40 years hey. Anyway I have a big bottle of magnesium plus now so have been having them since Monday and haven’t had any cramps but I think I dreamt they were coming and jumped up out of bed at about 5 this morning - so will see how I go. Not going to take any more pills though at this stage unless they get worse or come back.
I have never taken a vitamin tablet in my life - now seem to be stuffing them in with meals. Hope they don’t affect weight loss in any way!!!

It was a hot day today and I'm not having trouble drinking the water - at least we don't get humidity so it is a little better - but we have good air conditioners so it’s only a matter of out of car into building and not standing about in the sun any more than you need to.

Thanks again

Andy

Hey Andy! I love reading your diary - very inspiring!! Keep up the great work!! You are right, it can all be about getting your head in the right space - it can be so effortless when you are focused (and vice versa)! I hope that your garden is going well - I ate some silverbeat from my mum's garden last night and was surprised at how good it tasted (i have never liked it) - you are lucky to have such a great supply of fresh veges! Unfortunately, living in the city and in an apartment, it is a bit challenging to grow my own!! Hope you are having a great day and that your cramps haven't come back (i have got this powder that is a mix of magnesium and calcium, and supposedly the proportion/ration in the mix is very beneficial - and it doesn't feel like you are popping a vast number of tablets - if you are interested I can give you the name -can't remember off the top of my head)!
All the best,
Tam

Hi Andy,

You've gotta love hot weather for making it easy to keep up the water intake! if nothing else.

Not sure whereabouts in the country you are, but we've got horrible hot dry winds in Sydney at the moment, sucking the life out of everything...

I get 'restless legs' at night if I don't take my magnesium, so hopefully that will do the trick for you, and no more cramps!

cheers
K

I live and work in a little Western Queensland town of Augathella - you hear about in a song by Slim Dusty - Cunnamulla Fella - we are about 1000 km's west of Brisbane but not due west but northerly I suppose. About an hour from Charleville towards Longreach. It’s hot here today - about 38 39 but will go to 43 in summer so everything is well air-conditioned and you only really go outside early in the day or late in the day - plenty of sunlight and fresh air about here. I am not a city dweller and get lost and miss the bush after a few days away - too fast and silly and unfriendly for me.

Well Well Well - I am still the same weight as last week 122 kg - at least I don't have to muck about with the ticker!!!
Here I was yesterday and weighed myself but thought as I had had a drink of water that it must have been the water so left it until this morning and I'm still at 122 - although my belt has moved in and my pants are getting that bunched up they are looking silly - the weight bit has stopped for a spell or holidays or a rest or gone bush for a bit this week by the look of things. I am not concerned as I suspected this would happen as I was liking the food - no just joking - All is good as I have been %100 so have no fear and my consciences is clear.

Have had a wild storm last night but no damage reported - usually we lose a roof or two but no phone calls from any one to ask for help as yet. The thunder and lightning was terrific and has grumbled away all night.
The power has not gone off which is unusual for out our way.
The wind only blows some days and we lose power - but they must have nearly replaced the power supply now with all the repairs they have done in the last few years. Any way my garden is going like a train - flat out and it is so good to pick and eat your own home grown vegies. This rain will make things go as well. My h zucchini have started to bud which means they will start to fruit soon which is good as they have hit $12 a kg at the shop.

Any way all the best and I hope you all have some good wins this week,

Andy

Have just today gone through my locker at work and found a belt that I last used about 3 yrs ago so that will do for a bit -the uniform trousers are tailor made so will wait as long as I can before I get new ones - but suspect I will find some in my cupboard stored under other cloths that I have kept for the "if ever I lose a bit of weight" which has been going on for a long time but now looks like it is coming true.

After I got up this morning and as it had rained and I had nothing to do I went back to bed got up an hour later weighed myself and I had lost 1/2 a kg so the old body is working hard and I know it’s all going to happen.
Everything at our shop is gold lined – that’s what we all think but if you don’t support it will close then we would have to drive an hour to get anything. The lettuce have grown all day and the Bok Choy has really grown doubling in size almost today is picked fresh for tea as was the lettuce for lunch. Also looking after a mates 4 chooks as he and family have gone to England for 8 weeks so I get four eggs every day – all fresh and healthy.
All is good today and keeping on track.

Andy
