Default Day 8

Hi all

Starting weight 61.9
Ovn mo/m -500gm
Current weight 61.8

Changes: 2 slices bread, 1 bad fruit

Not much to report except a great sleep in bringing on a 500gm drop. I'm now sitting 100gm lower than I began. Very happy with that.

Had both my slices of bread plus a banana. Lovely with yoghurt. Seem to be shoveling food in. But still get hungry between meals even though they feel a bit large right now.

Not much different tomorrow. Just an increase of Protein and 1 more slice of bread.

Happy losing folks

Katie

Hi Katie,
Just popping in to see how it's all going. Seems you are sticking to the program and finding it to be ok. I hope you enjoy mixing up your meals... I really 'appreciated' the extra protein and mixing different fish/ seafood into the diet.
Funny how the bread is affecting you; I didn't notice any changes (or significant increases) until I added milk and a biscuit! So consequently, I have stayed on my gluten free Low GI country life bread, but dropped the milk, and weight hasn't moved in over a week.
Well done on getting through the silly season and staying strong!
Hope you had a great Xmas...
Ruby

Life gets much easier when you can mix proteins, Katie. I hope you are enjoying that freedom, although, as you say, the refeed programme does get more complicated at that point.

Like Ceburoo, I had no problems with bread, and I ate every slice, although I hadn't eaten much bread for years. I've also chosen to eat crispbreads rather than bread since I finished refeed, just prefer them.

I think that Dr C has our refeed programmes well worked out, and the idea is that you should be able to eat everything in refeed without gaining that one kilo. We all worry about it, but it seems to be relatively rare that anyone has to go back and repeat. Also, despite what appear to be huge meals, calories are actually relatively low, and not enough to add any real weight. Weight gain will come about only if foods disagree with you and cause you to retain fluid.

Enjoy your refeed. While you might feel you just missed out on being able to enjoy all the Christmas food, much better to start maintenance when there isn't a surfeit of food around and you can reintroduce new foods in small quantities and one at a time.

Hi

Refeed sounds just so complicated to me. Add abit here, add abit there good fruit, bad fruit. I like being told what to eat when, it doesn't give me any wriggle room. Discipline, just the way I like it. It's fine, I am still a long way off.

You must be half way there, almost. Keep up the good work.

For me, and many...
Refeed IS the best part of the program. And not just because of all the extra food! You actually begin to understand what your body can and can't deal with, and accept on a daily basis.
I lost more weight on Refeed, and hope to stay within 'range' for as long as I live (pregnancy excluded!)...
Katie, you are enjoying it aren't you?

Default Day 9, 10, 11

Hi all

Sorry to have taken so long to get back. It's really hard to find 5mins alone in a day to log on. So consequently I haven't bothered. I guess that is what comes with the silly season.

Thanks for dropping by Koh, Ruby x2, Snugglebear and AJ

Koh, hehehe. Approx there. Size 10's fit very comfortably so I haven't really gone clothes shopping in a bit. Not much spare left over from silly season. Hope you are enjoying your break.

Ruby, Thanks for all the support. It's great to hear from those who blazed the trail before me. I'm not really having much effect from bread. I did the first time but persevered, am now eating all 3 slices a day. I switched over to the ordinary wholemeal and am enjoying it much more than the white. I have tried the milk and find I do react to it. Not in weight gain but in nasal drip. Hahah sorry about the graphics. Oh ya.....IM LOVING REFEED!!!!

Snugglebear, Refeed is still very disciplined. It states exactly what you can have daily. Trust me, you will love it.

AJ, I don't really react to bread now. Am eating all 3 slices a day, and will prob eat some during maint. as I do enjoy a sanga. Most days will be CBs. Hoping all is going well with maintenance. I bet it is.

Day 9

Starting weight 61.9
ovn mo/m +200gm
Current weight +100gm

After looking forward to adding cherries for months, I can say they don't really do a thing for me. Funny how tastes changes. I also go to have my 3 slices a bread a day. Am really enjoying mixing proteins as I no longer have to honour the 5 hour rule. Not that I am eating on top of each other. Just means I get to sleep in longer. And that I LOVE !!!

Day 10

Starting weight 61.9
ovn m/m +500gm
current weight 62.5gm

Didn't panic too much on this day. Late night and very early rising. I didn't get to wait till I weighed and this usually happens on those kind of morns. Stuck to the plan and enjoyed all it offered. No changes except more veg.

Day 11

Starting weight 61.9
ovn m/m -900gm
Current weight 61.6

Well after a loooong sleep in my theory worked. Dropping a cool 900gm and sitting 300gm below starting weight. Love it. Got to have my first hot cuppa coffee with milk today. And add new protein. Nothing to outrageous, just nicer moister meat off a chook. No effects. Oh got to add strawberries. YUMMMY. Am enjoying those with yoghurt breaky right now. Coffee was ok. Still prefer my black tea. But am following plan. Have decided to trust Dr C 100% and it's paying off. So anyone out there worrying about refeed and it's effects. Just go with it.

Not much else to report. Will try to do today's food update tomorrow. And will get to other diaries in the NY. That's my NY resolution. hehe

Have a great NYE and NY everyone.

Katie

You seem to be following the path I followed, Katie. Eat everything, and it's all okay, and weight stays within range. Keep going with the milk. My consultant told me to stay close to a toilet when I first tried it. Not sure if it was the milk, but the first couple of times -- well, I won't go into detail, nothing too dramatic, but maybe a reaction. However, since then, no problems with milk. However, once on maintenance I've gone back to black coffee most of the time.

Refeed seems like a pain Katie but well worth it by the sounds of it.

I will enjoy being able to drink tea with a little milk again in Winter. I never drink tea in Summer but in Winter that is always my way of starting the day.

So you have to eat more on refeed..............I don't know if I could, Cohen's has always seemed like enough for me, I will probably explode on refeed. I could handle more variety but more quantity??? Do we have to eat bread?

Sounds like it is all working out great for you Katie, well done, and this is why we love the good Doctor, trust him and everything works out just great.

Take care

Default Day 12, 13, 14

Hi all

Thanks for dropping by AJ, FairRose and SB

AJ, that seemed the only way to me after I started refeed. I thought if this is what Dr C wants this is what he gets. So mixing it up everyday I am very surprised at the results. Gives me hope for maintenance.

Fair Rose, ty. Those nasty dizzy spells seem to have subsided with the introduction of carbs. I'm feeling 100% better nowdays tho still get tired easily. Didn't realize how crappy I had felt before Just really glad to get rid of them. Hehe hear ya on the forbidden. Though you will surprise yourself when you reach this exciting stage. Tastes change. Look forward to reading your refeed.

SB, pays to introduce everything on offer on refeed. You soon get into the swing of all the adding, subtracting etc. Just plan plan plan. And the quantities. I thought that at the beginning. I was going to burst like a big fat water balloon. But guess what. You get used to the amounts and I still get hungry, too quickly LOL

ok another 3 day log

Day 12

Starting weight 61.9
ov/m +100gm
Current weight 61.7

sitting 200gm below start. amazing with all the new food. Got to add cooked carbs and more veg. Went with bbq potatoes. Nice addition to my steak sandwich.

Day 13

ov/m +100gm
Current weight 62.0

Still hovering around the 62s. I guess that's my final figure. Happy with that. Just added extra New protein. Had mutton. mmmm it's ok. wouldn't write home about it.

Day 14

ov/m -700gm
current weight 61.3

ok that drop took me by surprise. guess I can eat mutton ok. Tried out pork today. I liked it. Tho dad cooked it before I could weigh properly so I had to guesstimate my amount. Tried mash spud too. Enjoyed that.

Well that's it for a few more days. Hope everyone had a great NY

Cya soon

Katie

Nice drop there, Katie. I roughly calculated the calories for my last day of refeed and, despite what seemed like huge quantities of food, it was a total of about 1600 calories, so not surprising that we don't gain weight through refeed. On maintenance, I'm finding I can eat pretty much anything without gaining weight, but if I eat more than a little high carb, low nutrient food (like desserts and cakes) I have a big increase in weight.

You'll be finishing refeed at a nice, quiet time of year, and be able to experiment gradually in the early days of maintenance.

Hey Katie

I am so impressed with you, you are still my hero.

You are hungry?? I would have thought that your flat little tummy would be bulging and that you would be begging for mercy at mealtimes. I still think it all sounds confusing. I will be going to the clinic and making them explain everything to me in great detail. You are almost finished refeed now aren't you??? Couple more days. Congrats Katie.

Cheers

Default Day 15 & 16

hi all

Thanks for dropping by AJ, SB and Koh

AJ, that's great to hear. I always feared maintenance but since experimenting on refeed I have hope for normal eating. To hear that only high carb food affects you, makes me think I will be in the same boat. So far the carbs on cohens haven't affected me much. Fingers crossed tho. I wish it was going to be quiet after my end, but I am going away for a week to visit rellies, a party etc. Luckily I finish the day before I leave. Phew what timing.

SB, good idea. But once you see your refeed, and pick up a lot of hints in here it will all fall into place. Do research also, this place is a gold mine. haha I wish my tummy was washboard flat to much loose skin for that. But as a friend pointed out, it's been stretched out of shape for so long it isn't ever going to be super flat. Oh btw I still have 3 days left. Will be finished on wednesday

Koh, woohooo. I didn't ever think that. But wait there's more hehehe.

All is going well. Still sitting well below my starting weight. And that I'm happy with.

Day 15

ovn m/m -300gm
current weight 61.0 kg

Got to add some butter on my toast this morn. Was really nice. Not that I'm a huge butter eater anyway, but just for a different texture and taste. The big drop surprised me and has me 900gm under my starting weight. It's a great feeling. Oh have hit the minus old protein add new veg territory. So it is getting a bit more confusing. Made all the harder because I went out to a 40th and not one cohen friendly meal on the menu. I made do with salmon and veg unfortunately all the veg served with it was all carbs Never had salmon served on mashed spud before.

Day 16

ovn m/m +300gm
current weight 61.3kg

This was a wonderful day today. Got to add a bickie. woohooo. had a gingernut and boy wasn't that VERY flavoursome. Not used to it I guess. My weight gained because of the high carb meal last nite. I couldn't do much but eat it so now I took it easy on the bread today and hope it shifts. Tomorrow will tell.

Ok that's it for now.

Hope everything is going great for all

Katie

Going really well on refeed Katie!! Great work!
How good were you sticking to it all over the holidays! I guess with refeed being so critical there really is no other choice than to do so! Good for you!

I've been catching up on your progress and seeing how well it has all been going and when you've had your gains and losses! It certainly does sound all rather exciting!

Not long to go now and you will have graduated!!

Only 3 more days, yahoooooooooooooooo.

I have been reading lots of refeed and maintenance diaries but I guess until it relates directly to me it won't make sense.

You are doing so great.

Hey Katie, it's gettin' close to Anzac time!

Just ease into it though. They can take you by surprise. I never carry more than 3 with me when I go to work. That way I can't "go back for more!"

Congratulations on a fantastic journey. You'll be moving threads very shortly now, joining us on the hard part of the journey.
