Hey sweetheart, and a very belated welcome to refeed! You're doing amazing! Isn't it incredible how you can increase the amounts and still not put on weight! Do yourself a favour though: be careful about feeling bad or guilty about everything you put in your mouth, both here and on maintenance. Follow the guidelines and have faith and you'll be fine. Enjoy the process and take babysteps. Guilt and stress have an awful effect on the body and the mind, so throw those in the bin!

Stay strong and keep smiling pretty lady! And enjoy all the new foods!
Big hugs!

Hey Kay!

Looks like refeed is going well. Lets hope some more drops show up while doing the refeed! I know I dropped over a kg when I was on refeed, so hopefully the same works for you!

Keep up the great work! The end is almost in sight!

Vee

Default Day 6

Day 6

Start - 69.4 kg
Today - 68.2 kg

Many thanks Shazza, Jo, Vee and Mette - yep, I'm loving refeed at present (sitting here tucking into rockmelon as I write - yum!)

Another drop of 0.2kg overnight - loving having more food (and yes, Koh is right so far it seems - that's 1.2kg shed on refeed in 6 days - fun!)

Still enjoying the increased amounts - although can't say I'm eating till stuffed yet, so looking forward to further increases).

Not much else to report at present - but Mette, on refeed I am starting to feel less guilty about more food - I think my issue was thinking by eating it I'd stack on food - more guilt and being scared of food than anything - I'm hoping refeed will slowly help me change my mindset too as I realise that eating larger amounts of "good" food is ok on my body. I'm also realising that maintenance means just that - maintaining a healthy weight which is quite different to my old life where I was always trying to diet, restricting my food intake to lose weight and then binging because I was hungry and hadn't eaten properly for too long. Maintenance is something else entirely - its just about working out what and how much food my body can cope with and eating it (plus hopefully some exercise so my body can cope with a bit more food). Anyway - that's my theory at present, hope it works out that way.

Cheers for now - Kay.

Love your theory on maintenance. It sounds spot on to me. It also makes it seem less scary!!

Hi Kay,

Certainly, you appear to be "easing" into refeed, and starting to relax about the future possibilities. Just in case you missed it, this post from SMS may give you even more ease.

http://newyouforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=231822&postcount=6

You just enjoy that extra food, as it is all planned for you, and can only do you good.

After that, well, baby steps into Maintenance - as you really want to enjoy the LONGEST plateau EVER once on Maintenance. Right??

Koh

HI Kay,

Well done on your amazing achievement. Your diary has been a great read! I am just about to embark on my Cohen's journey having started pre-cohen's last week. Connie suggested I check your diary out, appears I had already i just didn't recognise your pic..

I look forward to seeing you at the next big ANZSOG gig...

Well done again...

Another great result for you with the weight continuing to drop

I'd love to see some photos of you at this weight and some comparisons to the beginning! Are you going to do a photo album at all??

Look forward to your next post

Thanks Sean, Koh, Rach and Vee. Hope my head stays here - that's all I can say.

Sean - a big kia'ora. Didn't realise another ANZSOG fiend was on this amazing journey. Unfortunately you won't meet me at any more ANZSOG EMPA gigs as DPPP was my last subject ever!! (lucky me, I was part of the 2007 cohort, just had to make up a couple of subjects - and today I finished the first draft of my individual assignment and our group one is drafted too - so not long now and I'm finished both the masters and this diet - woo hoo!!!) I do recall you - did Connie rope you into this - whether she did or you found it yourself, the diet is amazing (not sure if you've seen my full diary or just this short refeed one - Connie was moving my other one to completed diaries somewhere). Its certainly been a heck of a ride - and so worth it. I laughed at res school when Karen B (the lecturer) asked casually if I was one of the people out running first thing in the morning - I laughed when I said I wasn't and asked her if she'd believe I was obese at the beginning of the year and her jaw just hit the floor. So good luck - and all I can stay is just stay deviation free (one deviation leads to many more in my experience and isn't worth slowing the results down for and just gives you a taste for non-cohens food when you can't have it) and do whatever your program says for as long as it takes and you'll get to goal no worries.

Cheers - Kay.

And a belated hi to Shazza - yes I will do photos at some stage - just need to take some very current good ones I'm happy with then get chance to go download them from camera (just busy finishing masters at present - but not long now). Maybe I'll do it to conincide with end of refeed and celebrate maintenance).

Default Day 7

Day 7

Start - 69.4
Today - 67.6 (.6 above goal!!)

Vee and Jo - just remember patience is a virtue!! Pictures will come.

Day 7 is going ok - I've got a rotten cold (and have done since I started refeed) also has morphed into a sinus or ear infection it seems - got drugs today so hopefully will get sleep tonight and start getting rid of it (kids sick too so astounding to me how much weight I'm losing on refeed given poor sleep, sickness and stress).

Had a larger than usual rump steak last night (half my extra protein for the day in addition to usual amount) - just had it with simple steamed veg and OMG it was delicious, nice to have a decent sized steak and surprisingly I cooked it to perfection (medium rare for me). So am totally enjoying the extra food and can't believe that even with the extra I've lost 1.8kg in 7 days - awesome. Even if I put on towards the end of refeed, hard to see me going a kilo over my start weight for refeed. Still will be interesting to see impact when I start adding a bit of carb like pasta or rice and so forth - that's usually danger time for me.

Cheers all - Kay.

K - so proud of you petal. you are doing fantastically well and it warms my heart. how amazingly far have we come these past 6 months.

i realised tonight that you actually do now have a skinny butt. unbelieveable!

after the struggles of the last month, these past couple of weeks are making it all worth it.

can't wait to join you in refeed land (fingers crossed 2 weeks tops) - although i hope you're in maintenance land by then. lol. cc

ps. koh is spot on with his brilliant thought about the longest plateau ever. very inspiring - i'll be thinking of that every day.

Default Day 8

Day 8

Start - 69.4
Today - 67.8

All still going well - realised tomorrow my protein level gets to the highest amount it gets to on refeed (and almost my full extra quota of vegetable). Quite happy about that - struggled a bit with amount of food today and still haven't hit adding full quota of bread or adding carbs like pasta/rice/etc yet. Am already plotting a chicken, eggplant, tomato, garlic and basil dish for my first day with a carb hit (might do it at lunch - I think I get there on Tuesday, all going well and no major weight gain between now and then). Have been plotting and planning in general - one day with carbs thought I'd do shepherds pie (beef/lamb mince plus potato on top), and fried rice (which I've made for our little one and really wanted to eat myself - will do a cohens friendly version while on refeed!!)

Had a banana today - that was a very nice change (although not probably what I was hankering for - in fact none of the bad fruits particularly ring my bell - loved having pineapple and rockmelon which from Monday I think I have to stop in favour of bad fruits. Am looking forward to trying strawberries!!

All in all an interesting day food-wise - almost bordering on too much to get through in a day (but not quite!!). So next days will be highly intriguing to see how I go with all the extra food and how my weight reacts.

Cheers - Kay.
Also got a pack of scotch finger bikkies today - in preparation for my last couple of days where I get to enjoy a plain bikkie (Jo - just couldn't go past them in favour of a teddy bear bikkie!)

Hi Kay
It is such a great read - your refeed journey. Loving it!

Can't wait to see the piccies.

Giving me inspiration every day to stay deviation free. You are so right, it only takes one or 2 and the temptation to have more is strong!

Take care and keep on writing

Hi Kay,

You are making me totally jealous and yearning to start refeed! You've journeyed so well on this refeed phase. I wish I can do mine as well as you do. However, first I've to get past this plateau of 60 and get right down to the 50s... although so near, it seems so far with the less than normal weight drop.

I haven't really deviated but yet the weight continues to slow down. I was just enjoying a bit of good drop a couple of days ago and wham slam the TOM and now everything is upward scale. Oh well, can't rush things. I'll just stay super duper disciplined and keep my mind focused on getting to the goal. I want to be able to get right down to goal weight before starting - as much as I can. Hunger doesn't get to me yet except my back pain. So, I'll still travel along and will see what happens next week.

You are coming to an end of your refeed. Please continue to maintain contact dearie! I'm beginning to feel lonely on the other side with you / Yeti / Rosemary on refeed. *Sigh*

Sounds like refeed is going great for you! Gotta love the extra amounts and not feeling hungry anymore!!
I remember loving the scotch fingers, and I was never a biscuit person before!
Refeed will soon be over and then you can indulge occasionally in what you hanker for!

Well done, Kay!
