Hi Katie,

Wow !! You've only just got here, and already socking it to those Kgs !!

Good on you... From day one you sounded so focussed, and ready to go the distance - I'm sure you will.

Yep, caught up with your photos too - just the fact that you posted them tells us all how serious you are too. You are going to be a "success story" too in short order.

Welcome aboard, Katie - stick with us, and go inspire those doubters at work - they'll be beating a path to YOUR door in a few short weeks

Koh

Hi katie,

Welcome to the forum, just be wary of daily weighing ... I do it and it did my head in a lot, fluctuations are pretty normal, I even had weeks where I lost nothing at all. But thankfully I had Koh on here with me to keep me grounded **scratches puppy ears**

Before you get upset about fluctuations or gains have a read of my diary and the angst I went through and then look at my signature and see that despite the gains and fluctuations I got to refeed and you will too!

Good luck for the official weigh in.

Connie

Hi Katie

You have done fantastic. I have my first official weigh in tomorrow for 1 mth and I think you got me beat at a week. Thats fantastic. I'm glad to hear you are so excited and motivated, its only going to make it that much easier for you to achieve results, and quicker. I try not to weigh myself throughout the week as it does cause distress at times but I do weigh myself every Saturday and give myself an update on weight and measurement. Then again, it would prob give you an awesome surprise at the end of each month if you are able to persevere.

Too bad that your colleagues are so small minded, and I tell you, who gives a damn what they think. You'll show them in the end and will have the last laugh.

Goodluck with the rest of your week, looking forward to seeing some more updates.

I hope the new scales give you consistent readings, Katie. It's discouraging to see your weight has gone up when you have been 100%. I'm a daily weigher, always have been, and used to lots of ups and down, but as Connie says, long term it's consistently down.

Well done on posting your photos. In a few months you'll be so pleased you have them to look back on.

Default 2nd week weigh in

Hi all

Thank you for taking time out to read my diary. Means a lot that others that are doing this are more than willing to spur us newbies on

Thank you for all the kind words and support. Connie I read your diary up to pg 16 and I can see your point. I endeavor to never ever to weigh during the week . I shall put them away!!! Well just a simple heart felt thanks to you all.

Well I have done my 2nd week weighin. After a terrific 1st week I was flying high. Until those fluctuations began. And after all this from last weeks score to this weeks i have gained a whole 900gms

That means I am at a total of 90.2 kg. But I know myself that the huge loss was probably just water loss. This brings my weight loss to date as 5.8kg. Still ok in my book.

On the plus though, my measurements have shrunk. I lost 1.5 " this week. Since starting that makes it a total of 6.5" off my measurements. Now this I like. No gain there so now I know the diet is really working.

Well until next time folks. Bye

Katie

Hi Katie,

Hehe - despite this week's weighin (and that temporary retained water gain) I reckon that snail on your ticker is going to prove to be on steroids

Just watch him "streak" (well, maybe not - a snail without a shell wouldn't look too good ) across your ticker.

BTW, I love your sense of humour, Katie (thinking of "your dance behind closed doors" here) - keep that working for you, and this journey will be a breeze

Katie, it may be that you have retained fluid in the last day or so, and that's why your weight appears up. One thing's for sure, you haven't really added any weight. However, read through your Personal Eating Plan book again and just check that you aren't doing anything wrong.

Katie,

It's more likely that the low is your proper weight and you are now holding fluid, it will drop again soon

We go through phases of loss on this program Katie, losing, stabilising then shrinking. Sometimes they happen all in one day, sometimes over a couple of weeks So when you are losing the scales drop, when stabilising, nothing may happen for a few hours or days, and then when shrinking the measurements drop (sometimes faster than the scales). So this time next week you will be definately lower again, and smaller and working down the ticker!

Have a good week.

Connie

Hi all

Thanks for the fluid tip. Darn fluid why do we have to hold onto it like gold .

Well today I had myself convinced to deviate. Had a real fanging for a pasty. So good on these cold blowey days. The NUM at work asked me to work on so 11 hours later, the last thing I felt like doing was coming home and cooking. But having the weekend off, I managed to make a few things ready. THANK GOD . So far 100% deviation free. Though I am wondering if anyone has a cohen's friendly pasty recipe. I'll post a question over in recipes.

Other than that, I have absolutely refused to weigh myself today or yesterday. Just work, diet, and sleep. All in all a good day.
Well take care all.
Till next time

Katie

PS Good tip AJ, I shall have another peek through, make sure I am doing things right

Hi Katie
good on you for staying deviation free and great losses! I dont have any cohen friendly pastry recipes but some people are doing some quite creative things with their crackers and making apple pies and crumble if you look at some of the recipe threads.

Pasties are definitely not Cohen food, Katie. Good for you for resisting. Something like that really could set you back a week, as well as bringing on cravings and making the next one harder to resist. Check out Erica's apple tarts. You may be able to come up with a variation on them, or ask Erica if she can.

Default its soooooooooo cold

Hi folks

Enjoying the cold weather?? I know I am feeling it waaaaaaaayy more. Frozen pinkies are common nowdays. I've always been curious as to whether carbs (along with body bulk) is what kept our winter core temps up. Not that I have lost my bulk but it is slowly melting .

Well Im over the pasty craving. Back in the zone as is written here quite often. I have had a few doubts lately as to why I am doing this diet. Why add to life's stresses now of all times but one has to trust their gut instinct sometime. It was now or never! Now I have that clear in my mind it's full steam ahead.

Well almost 3 weeks is over. Last weigh was down to 88.8 kg, 2 morns in a row. That to me is great. Most I have ever lost in years. Good enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Well time to get some sleep ...gnite folks

Katie

Katie, when we are not eating as many calories as our bodies would like it looks for ways of economising. That's why many are losing hair, and I think it's why we feel so cold.

The most important reason for doing this diet is that you will be healthier for the rest of your life if you are not overweight. You probably feel much healthier already. Keep that in mind for when you have doubts.

Default 3rd week weigh in

Hi

Thanks for dropping by AJ. You always seem to be able to say the very right thing to keep the lost on the right track. Your words of wisdom have helped me in many places

Well today marks the end of my 3rd week. Still going strong. Even having nightmares on deviating . I read in Cocopops diary of her deviating and how it caused much problems with cravings. That is always at the back of my mind. So I will do my damnest to not deviate. A moment of pleasure on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!!!

Well I did my weekly weigh in wooohooo down to 88.4kg. That makes 7.6kg loss in 3 weeks.. This diet just keeps getting better and better. Oh my measurements have dropped a whole 5". Seems to be my magic number. Well time for some boring housework. Take care all.

Katie

PS I found an old old old pair of jeans I haven't fitted into for years. They fit, and won't be long before they will be too big

Well, LOOK at you GO !!! Kinda eases the mind re last week's 900g gain, doesn't it?

You're D-free from day one, so your body was simply "doing what it needed" - and sometimes that includes "no loss weeks", and even gains... This is probably the reason the good Doc says "weigh monthly" as it is a more accurate (and less stressful?) way to see what is REALLY happening.

And look at those inches shrinking too... They are telling a good story for you Katie - you're doing this in style....

Enjoy those jeans while you can - a month at most, I'd say - judging by the way you are travelling...

Katie, I've been on a lot of diets in my life. I've almost always deviated along the way. I know how difficult it is to get back on track once you start deviating. You'll find that there are several on the forum at the moment who will warn against deviating because they are struggling to get back. It's not worth it.

Well done on getting into those jeans. You need to keep trying on the too small clothes because it's amazing how quickly your body is getting smaller.

Hi, me again

Well not much to add. Just checking in on the best site on the net. Have to agree Koh, I tried to do that quote thingy, but it defies my brain at the moment , That's about easing my mind. This diet is like a giant xmas present that just keeps on coming and like any little kid on xmas day, ya just gotta keep trying it out .

Gotta admit though, I'm less on the scales and those little upsurges don't mess with the mind so much.

AJ your right again. Just reading other people's diaries has made it very plain that any sort of dev, will only cause heartache. That's why I am able to keep strong around those nasty little cupcakes, quiches etc etc they keep on supplying the nurses . It's definitely very easy with the thought of busting the groove and undoing all the good work. I also have tried on new clothes. I couldn't help myself, I put on my 13yo son's jeans Sunday. they fitted. Bit tight across the butt but they fitted. That was sure a boost.

Well not much else, it's finally raining.

Ok take care all.

Bye

Katie

You'll also find, Katie, if you read back through diaries, that for most people the daily movements on the scales become much less important. Newcomers have their day spoiled if the scales are up 100 gms, or even if they are the same as the previous day. After a few weeks or months they don't care what the scales say, they know that if they are not down today they will be soon. Sounds like you are getting to that point.

Default 4 weeks is up

Hi

Thanks for dropping by AJ and anyone else whose read my diary.

Well what a landmark entry this one is. It's the end of my 4 weeks, have been in and had my blood test and my official weigh (at home) because I am doing it by distance. Lord knows theres a place for a Cohen's clinic in Broken Hill, plenty of very large people floating around.

Well looking back on all the last Saturdays weighs and measures I can sort of see a cycle happening.

I had a lost of 1.9kg & .75" this week. If adding all the totals together I have lost 10.4kg & 12.25" total. But from my beginning weight to today it is only 9.5kg. Soooo confusing. After deep consideration I decided to stick with the 9.5kg because if I was a good girl and did as told I wouldn't have known about the 900gm gain. Haha it hurts, I still cant go get my new charm yet. Wouldn't mean as much if I cheat Oh ya, not much off the measurements this week. I guess they will follow. I think I read somewhere that they go in cycles too, just like the weight loss.

Well my friend is off for her first blood test today. She keeps checking me over, and saying "My *** the weights just melting off you". God bless her, it makes me dance inside when I hear that. Not so lucky her, her husband is not being very supportive and is against it. So I told her I'm there for her if she needs me. I know how that anti cohens vibe feels, and coming from the hubby has to be the worst.

That snail isn't quite on steroids Koh more like a brisk walk or is that slither

Ok till next time folks, take it easy and keep it coming off.

Bye

Katie

well done katie on a great month loss, yes I find it goes in cycles, every month at the same time, prior to periods I gain up to 3 kg, which is where I am now. Very disheartning, but hang in there you are doing great.
Happy 100% days
