I feel so full of gratitude at the momment - I have lost another 1.1 kgs bringing my total to 2.4 kgs IN TWO DAYS! - and i'm not on the programme even - just precohens.

Every single person in here has played a part in that - so I thank you. I spent about a month in here reading and it was largely what I read in here that gave me the push to committ to this. The information packed into this forum is incredable Your weight & cm losses have inspired me. The support you give to each other has allowed me to feel I don't have to do this alone - me against the world. The changes in your lives has allowed me to hope that can also see changes. Thanks everyone.

Thanks to each of you who have visited my diary.

Jimbo - great to meet you - thanks for the welcome.

Jamanoha - admire your stubborness! I am trying to understand my body a bit better so for the momment am weighing every day and keeping a graph so I can look for patterns. Have made a committment if a gain discourages me then I have to stop every day weighing.

Ellabelle - thanks - look forward to journeying with you.

Mette - thanks for the tip about JennyC's Diary - very inspirational.

Jenniwren - I think you are right so I am not trying to do everything at once - just one step at a time and give myself and my body time to adjust.

AJ - you wouldn't believe this but I got an email from a friend about a thermomix demo yesterday !! Unfortunately it is Saturday and I can't go because I am playing at a festival. Have sppoken to her and there will be another time.

Last night felt the head kicking in - looking for its evening fix of carbs so I got on the forum - that kept it occulied...lol.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Blesings
Shanara

Hey Shanara,

Thanks for popping into my diary with the encouraging words for my first day. I did survive and i can mark off one day in my journey as a success.

Great work with the start on Cohens with reducing carbs etc. I wasn't that strong and unfortunately will probably have bad detox side effects my first few days.

Can't wait till you start for real

A belated hello Shanara!

It sounds like you are so in the right place to be doing this program, that you are going to do well and achieve all your goals!! Reckon the others have already coined it by saying you will be freezing your butt of in Antartica before you know it!!

Just doing the pre-cohens you achieved fantastic results, so when you start the program you will do really well!

Looking forward to following your progress!

Vee

That's a great start, Shanara. I did as you did before I started, and spent a lot of time reading through the forum. I found doing that, and the photos thread, very motivating and it helped me get started with lots of enthusiasm and determination.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Well its come to a screaming halt his morning as I have put on .5 kg. However I am remembering why I am doing this daily weighting for a while - and that is to observe my body.

My scales also measure BMI, Body Fat, Body fat % and water %. The only figure that is down is my water %. I did drink as much water yesterday but I remember last night I realised that I had only drunk half my water - so I had 1.5 litres in a short space of time before bed. Seems to be saying that I need to be more aware of timing of my water intake and give it to my body earlier in the day and in more frequent sips.

Not getting down over this - I can feel the difference in my body already and it is really early days yet. My ankles love me.

Just love the support from everyone in this forum - It is this that is keeping me feeling strong.

Ellabelle - love the 'little' butt - hope it doesn't freeze lolol

Lisa - thanks for your encouragement - feel like we are doing this together as we have similar amount to loose.

Nat - thanks Clinic says I should get my plan end of next week.

Tam - yes we are both shrinking

Slimstar - me too!! Hope its quick!

Mandarella - You are off to a flying start! Didn't really plan to do it this way - if you could have seen what I ate last week. Just stayed with the process and something just clicked into place.

Hi Vee - thanks for dropping in to my diary - (putting on kettle...care for a cup of green tea....) You are a real inspiration to me - you are powering on this plan. Still feeling trepidatious about starting real plan - I just have to remember - stay with the process!

Mette - I really hope you are right

AJ - I guess you know already that I have a lot of respect and admiration for you so am very heartened to hear that I have begun as you did - what a great omen for my progress. Have to check out the photos thread.

Well another day begins - might try mushroom omelette for breaky.

Blessings all
Shanara

Of course I'm right!

Your weight will fluctuate from day to day, even once you get onto the program. That's the reason they tell you not to weigh every day. Mostly it will be water retention, because there's no way that you can put actual weight on with the program.
Stay strong and keep smiling!

Hey Shanara!

You've made a great start and by maintaining your attitude throughout the program, you will fly to goal in no time!
We're all waiting with baited breath how well you are going to do once you actually start the program proper! Do you know when that will be?

You will gets up and down's in your weights, especially if you weight every day. So long as it does not mess with your head and you don't get too despondent about gains (which are usually just water retention) then it's great to see what your body is doing every day. Otherwise, I too can recommend a weekly weigh in day! The main thing to remember is that this program works, so even if you get a gain, just keep sticking to the program, cause that is when it is sure to fall off!

Keep going so well!

Vee

Hi Shanara
Just a thought... could the .5 be from the water you drank before bed? No idea... but I know I stop drinking my water around 8pm every night, and no matter what, I still get up through the night to visit the loo... my body is still holding that much liquid.
You might find that tomorrow morning you have another nice loss.
All the best!
Lisa

Shanara, I put weight on when I retain fluid. A litre and a half before bed would mean I still had some in me next morning when I weighed, and my weight would go up. Have you looked at my daily loss chart here: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showpos...5&postcount=22. I haven't put the last bit in yet, but you can see how often my weight went up, and how regular it was overall. If you don't get disheartened by occasional increases, daily weighing does show you when you have retained fluid. As Mette said, you can't actually gain weight on this diet.

Two posts in one day but probably won't have time to come in tomorrow morning before College.

I have been very aware of water intake today - had 1.5 lts before 11am so that was good. Overall about 4 litres today - am on last bit before bed.

Spoke with clinic today - they have sent off my programme just now will wait and continue with my version of pre cohens. Funny had planned to have a few more of my favourites before starting programme but now have been carb free for 4 days don't want to put any in my body and have to go through detox again of carbs again. Guess will just give up idea of farewelling favs by eating them ..lol. So I decided to have some cheese today - just a bit. Actually looking forward to having crackers on the programmme as not having any carbs now.

Clinic gave me my goal weight - 60 - 63 kgs. OMG - I guess I was below that when I was born . Anyway not thinking of how many kgs to go between now and 63kgs.

Mette - You are right also about the weighting every day - am doing it at the momment to learn more about my body - like today - big learning.

Vee - it won't come in until end of next week and I have a weekend camping in the bush where we drum and dance in a firecircle all night for 2 nights until sunrise so I am going to start after that. Will spend the time between then and now getting prepared and on precohens gradually dropping off food groups. Guess it seems slow but if I am going to be in this for the longhaul an extra day or two doesn't matter.

Lisa - I reckon that is so. I love your first goal - I too am looking forward to reclaiming clothes on the trip to thinness again. Have thrown a lot but kept some that were favs.

AJ - yes AJ I have not only seen your graph but have set up a similar one on excel. I will weight daily and chart it to look for patterns to understand my body better unless I find "gains" are knocking me too much psychologically and then I will stop.

Well off to bed dear friends. I may have to go to Forum Anonymous - can't spend enough time in here at the momment - think it is all part of my preparation. It's almost like if I could spend enough time in here my weight would just drop off.....lol

Blessings
Shanara.

I remember now that you said you had set up a similar chart, Shanara. Keeping a food diary (if you are not already doing so) may help also.

Many of us were told to drink 1 litre of water per 25 kgs of body weight. However, have you read this thread: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6137?

I was rather shocked and horrified about my goal weight too, Shanara. I remember being 72 when I was about 15, but don't remember ever being under that. But as you get closer, you start realising that it's possible and it becomes exciting! Take it one day at a time, one meal at a time, and you will get to goal!
