Thank You Asy for the clarity - yoghurt has felt like a tricky area to know what is ok and what is not.

Is it possible now we could have a list of brands that are OK or is that too difficult.

Thanks
Shanara

Well I'm continuing to use Yoplait....or Tamar Valley if I can find it...my weight loss has been fantastic the whole way through, I did stop using Vaalia when this issue first started even though my clinic advised me to use it. So if my losses slow down then I may change...but until then I will keep doing what I'm doing

You are all discussing Normal yogurt but what i want to know about is Soy Yogurt ?

I have found a natural one made by Soyganics that is only 2% fat but is slightly higher in carbs than dairy ones.

Does anyone know if we eat this ??

Default Question

Hi
I was wondering if you are able to use home made yoghurt (such as EasiYo). Sorry, I'm sure this answer is somewhere but I've been looking for an hour with no luck!
Thanks if you can answer it!

all

I have offically told i can have soy Yougurt, but it has to comform with the same rules.
Ie has to be natural and less than 2% fat. i can have the same amount.

Have been having it for weeks......its fab and not as tart as natural yougurt.

If you are in SA you can get it from Foodland.

How come it doesn't put a quantity in the personalised meal plan of how many mgs of yogurt you can have-they come in different sizes? My plan says one yogurt.Wouldnt it be cool if it was the 500g or liter of yogurt. I ate yogurt option once with the container being 125g size and found that I was starving an hour later. In USA yogurts are like one cup or 250g ssize or 175 I think if I remember right for the little yoplait ones that came out in the late 70's. If it is not personal, what size are the yogurts over in downunderland?

Carrieanne_c it sounds strange that your program doesn't list this.
It does on mine, but as we are not allowed to put weights on here, I'll have to just say, this is a question to check in with your clinic.

Sorry

Wow, a few questions...

No, you can't have easi-yo.
Yes, you can have soy yoghurt.
Carrieanne, I'll PM you the yoghurt amount, they're all the same. (it's the only thing that's the same across all programmes).

Easy & Cheap Yoghurt Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lt milk - no fat, skim whatever you like and is allowed
1 desert spoon of bought yoghurt - the more you use the more bitter or sour the yoghurt

Bring milk to boil without boiling over and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes

Set aside and cool to 46deg or just above body temperature

Blend in 1 desert spoon bought yoghurt - I use my stick mixer

Place into a container you intend to refridgerate it in and with the lid ajar put into a warm bed for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.

I have a little plastic bottle that I fill with boiling water and put the lid on. I put this and the new yoghurt onto a tray or into a stockpot with the lid on and wrap in a blanket and leave in a safe place overnight.

For your information folks - easiyo was APPROVED by my clinic.
'Easiyo Skimmers' has 412kj and 0.3g fat per 200g.

NattyG... I'm sorry, but, your clinic may have misinterpreted the section of the online database relating to home-made yoghurt. Easy-Yo is NOT allowed on the programme.

Please ask your clinic to check their online database, they will see it's written in there as not allowed (comes under the banner of 'home-made yoghurt). Also, if they need to, ask them to verify with head office (as I have just done).

Melissa, thanks for the great recipe, it will be really handy for people on maintenance, but, unfortunately is not allowed on the programme.

Guys... Again...

NO homemade yoghurt is allowed on the programme, whether made in an 'easy-yo' manner or other, NO home made whatsoever.

asy.

i just found an amazing yoghurt!! from an organic shop, its called:

barambah organics
99% fat free
low fat natural organic yoghurt

its only ingredients are milk, non fat milk solids and the good culture thingies

its creamy and thick and smooth and not tart and bitter, seriously the best yoghurt ive had on cohens (except for black swan which is my fave but has inulin in it)

i highly recommend to anyone who can find it!!

I have to confess I have been using easiyo the whole way through the programme, practically every day. What is the problem with it? It's plain, unflavoured, unsweetened, less than 2%. Not only that it is yummy and way cheaper than the commercially made brands....I'll check the label for the chicory root ingredient....barrring that I can't see why it would be a problem? Does anyone know why?

Ok checked the ingredients list on Easiyo unsweetend, low fat yogurt I have been using and they have listed skim milk powder and live yogurt cultures...

That's it. Nothing else.. No nasty inulin...

If easiyo is not allowed I have managed to deviate pretty much every day of the programme. This is one of those situations where i struggle to see the difference. A reason why would be really, really useful if anyone has it..

Cheers

Maybe it is just that Dr Cohen hasn't checked it out, Kiwi... and it's easier to put it on the no-no list.

I highly doubt you have been really deviating this whole time... LOOK at your ticker!!!! haha. Congrats, sir!
