Yeah sorry Mark the closest I am going to come to discussing it is to say that constipation post-op was not fun. And it wasn't just nausea I had the other day

All I know about poonamis or bulk vs. frequency of poos is that a gastroenterologist once told me that diets high in unhealthy fats produce voluminous and frequent poos. But it's not necessarily healthy - just the fat racing through your system. I reckon Cohen's poos are high quality, pure waste poos, after your body has taken all the good things out of your food! She also said that "normal" is just regular. It's when the pattern changes you have to ask questions.

hee hee, my dad this winter after all of the snow they had in washington DC, he came up with snownami- snow that just came in big waves, we didn't have any snow in my part of spain, but every once in a while this winter we'd had a poo in our house. lol, Panda thanx for coming back and providing your gastro's knowledge on poo! It is good to know-that voluminous and frequent is not necessarily better!(when it comes to poo-for other matters yes, but not for poo)

i was just reading a diary (SMS)
and it occurred to me that what the actuarial had almost done was weigh each poo. all he needed to do for accuracy was weigh before and after a bm and we could have had some real science going on ( or going down as the case may be)
anyone up for a challenge

Well that won't work if you are hoping for a poonami, you have to unclench for that to be possible!

Panda - as in regular for you? So I imagine that if my 'regular' was 2 or 3 times a week, and that changes to less or more for a long period, that's when I have to clarify with doctor to check that there's nothing wrong with me, I reckon?

Hi Mcpsych, back in precohen days I could wake up, weigh, empty, re- weigh and take notes just as if I were an old person who is requiered to keep good records on the matter, but now with the new schedule, I always have to have water or food earlier as poo is not as forthcoming!and the poo can surface at anytime during the day and trying to calculate the weight of said poo is impossible due to the extra weight of water and food ingested.

Hi Littlemiss - just REGULAR - so if a person is twice a day regularly or 3 times a week regularly - that's regular. If you go three times a week and suddenly go three times a day - then your regularity has changed and need to check out why.

Don't confuse regular with "normal". Everyone is different but so long as you are regular and not constipated, then you are normal for you.

Shock horror, Mark is stirring the .... thread, that is just so out of characters. I tell you prunes work!!! Just like Bronnie said, I only took them for a couple of days with my yoghurt and as regular as now!! But not on plan so they were definitely the last resort, not recommending them for everyone, but I hadn't had a BM for 2 weeks and was in a lot of pain, but definitely a bit of an addition to the diet in maintenance.
