Thanks for feedback. I know it has all been worked out by Dr C and so yes I trust it. I think because of all the fad diets out there, when I prepare my meals and I start panicking because I have to take out lettuce because its too much - part of me thinks "Am I being fanatical - it's only lettuce". But then the other part of me kicks in and thinks "I paid them to work it out for mel, and they have, and so I'm doing it". I just like to get the knowledge and understanding behind the action. It's not that I'm questioning Dr C, just that I do better when I understand the reasons. When you know WHY you should'nt have something - you happily go along with it. If a friend or relative was to ask me "why can't you have an extra 10 grams of lettuce?", isn't it better to say.......the reasons. It would seem lame to say "because they said so - I don't know why". I'm convinced it works - i've seen many results from others - I just like to know how it works. I like reading feedback like Connie's and Marks as I'm learning something, as well as helping myself at the same time.

C-Jaye: sometimes I like to cook some mushrooms/onions/bok choy with my protein, which uses most of my allowance, but I like to have some fresh salad on the side with it. That's how come I've been questioning the lettuce part of it. Yes if you only have lettuce it is a plateful, but most times I've included veg in my meal so when I make a salad it is very small. I think it's because I'm used to eating bigger meals/salads in the past. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I get used to it.

Sorry, I hadn't planned on going on so much.
miss o xx.

Don't worry about going on- no one minds as it helps to clarify and no doubt there are others with the same questions
I hope we have clarified it a bit for you
cheers

Thanks Mark. Yes, your comments among others have certainly helped clarify lots of things for me. I'm sure I'll come across more questions as I go along this journey - but it certainly is good to know that I can ask and not feel too silly for doing so. And like you said, you could be helping someone else with the same query without knowing it.
It's all good.

Miss O...what sized plate/container do you use for your meals?

I know when I started that I kept using my big plates and bowls and containers for my lunches/dinners and thought the same...man there is no much on that plate! But then the penny dropped...eating less...use a smaller plate. I now only use bread and butter plates for any meal and I went and bought a tiny bowl and smaller plastic containers. This helped to give me the illusion that I'm eating more than I really am. Now it doesn't bother me because I'm pretty full by the time I'm half way through my meal anyway, but at the start it helped heaps.

And with lettuce...I am like you and lloooveee my lettuce...so I usually weigh that first and normally have 1/4 to 1/2 of my allowance as lettuce when I have salad. And because it isn't that heavy you get a bit. I use Cos Lettuce tho and I find when I use Cos I get more than if I use iceberg (when I can't find Cos). No idea why...but hey...works for me But obviously...that means less of the other veges if you use more lettuce

Kirst

I use the bags of lettuce leaves because they are lighter again - 30gm is a dinner plate ful! Mind tricks do work.

I wonder if this (much less sugar in my system) is what has caused a funny feeling in my joints at times, like not the same flow of movement.. like I can't touch type as well or as quickly because the fingers don't flow as fast, feels like something between the joints is different. Nothing major, I am just curious about these things.

And Miss O - yes, your questions and clarifications do help others, without you even knowing it. I've benefitted from reading this thread. But now you do know

no thae sugars are stored as fat, not in joints, and then used to feed muscles
if you have joint pain or stiffness this will be another issue

thought about this again yesterday when my legs wouldn't work normally.. at first i said joints (in relation to fingers) cause that's kind of how it felt, not flowing movement as normal, but when it was happening in my legs last night i realised it was actually the muscles, i guess it was easier to tell since the muscles are so much bigger
