6 days into refeed and today finds me with my starting weight. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. Today is a massive increase in quantities with bread tripling, mains increasing by a full third and the introduction of bad fruits all on one day.

Just looking at the quantity of food for lunch scares my poor shrunken stomach!

It will be interesting to see what Sunday brings this week, SMS, given the increase in food. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Wow! There's the Sunday morning drop! 500g down! Also big drop in cm's today as well? Dropped 6 cm's which equals my highest weekly drop in cms throughout the program! Strange considering the increased quantities of food.

AJ, get some sleep! We do ourselves in by not getting sufficient sleep. I've overslept this morning which is going to play the devil on my scheduling today as I didn't wake up till 10:30 this morning. And I went to be early at 11:30 last night! Problem is now I cannot eat lunch until 4 this afternoon which makes dinner around or after 9 pm!

HI SMS

All that extra food seems to agree with you, what an amazing cm loss. I usually avoid the refeed diaries because I don't want to know about all the extra food you guys are eating! But I just wanted to say hi. When I get closer to goal I'm sure I'll be reading the refeed diaries avidly.

A case of the pot calling the kettle black, SMS. I normally spend eight hours in bed, far more than you I got caught yesterday when we went to Melbourne in the morning and didn't arrive home until after four, so lunch close to 4:30, dinner at 9:30, bed at 11:30, then up at 7:30 for breakfast, and it turned out I didn't need to be have breakfast that early after all.

Good to see that your Sunday lie in is still working its magic.

Up 100g today. Not bad considering my late meals yesterday. Not complaining at all. Still 400g below target.

AJ, yeah, I've always known I don't get enough sleep (5-6 hours a night) that's why Sunday's are good to me as I allow myself at least 8 hours and the HGH works it's wonders then.

Hexi, Yeah, I was also wondering if I would get a major drop as well, Although I'd have been happy to hover right around 69kg. I feel that's were I'll probably finish anyway.

Andy, frankly, from a financial point of view, our program up here in Singapore costs the equivalent of 1100Aus with our blood tests thrown in. Why take the antibiotics without finishing the course. That works the same in real medicine as well, the next time you catch the bug it's even worse. So one MUST finished the course of medicine in order to cure the ailment. I'm in 100% agreement with you on this one!

I'm with you and Andy, SMS. If refeed is an important component of the diet, why would anyone decided to stop without completing refeed? I hadn't thought about the cost, but why spend all that money and not take all you paid for?

Hi there SMS,

have just read all your refeed diary, cant wait for that banana and some bread. My work supplies free fruit and I alwasy look at the bananas longinly.
I do agree with your thoughts on waiting to get to goal weight before starting refeed. I have another 4.4kgs to go and know I need those extra kgs off before I can think of adding anything back in.

maintenance next for you. how long does your refeed go for. Is everyones basically the same. I have never thought before this diet, of having to maintain it to keep the weight off, well never got down that far I guess, this time round I am so determined to do it properly.
I just love being slim

Cheral

Cheral, I've heard that refeed is usually 14 to 21 days. No idea how the days are arrived at but I would assume your continuous blood tests and whether or not deviations showed up in the blood test would probably have some bearing on it but I'm totally in the dark there. I have 16 days. Tomorrow is day 10. But it feels like Thanksgiving and I'm the turkey! Stuffed!

Hey, SMS, so nice to read your succesful refeed!

Sorry to bother, but... I would really really appreciate some of your help...
please...

were you hungry when you started refeed?

I checked again what people wrote on the "hod do you know when you're ready for the refeed" question...

I would LOVE some of your help...
I'm 1kg under my target weight,
I was sleepless 2 nights ago and hungry and a day before totally no energy

but now

I feel great, I am NOT hungry at all (even less than the whole 3 months diet), I am rested (Got good sleep), no backpain (as some people say was a sign), happy...

That lack of energy, hunger and moodiness could have totally been the result of my work...but yes, I had hard time falling asleep in last few weeks...

Little confused what to do...

I thank you for any comment...

Static this morning. Off to the Doc's this morning for a complete blood & urine workup so no breakfast until over. This will throw schedules all out of whack this morning. But it may mean no more meds for anything if I'm lucky!

Maya,

I wasn't hungry the first week of the program, never got detox symptoms and when I hit the bottom of my range of 69kg I wasn't hungry. I know when I felt and looked the best and that was coincidentally also between 69 (military discharge weight) and 72kg (Optimum weight when I was a commercial diver in my mid 40's). While I could have gone lower, I would have to ask myself why? Just because I can? Doesn't Make sense to me. I'm already in easy normal BMI, I look trim and healthy. Why should I keep going done to the point where I look like a "bobble-head" (those big-headed bobbing head dolls people put into the back windows of their cars). I've no desire to look anorexic, but rather healthy.

I've actually had it easy on this program as I've never had any of the bad symptoms at all.

Thanks SMS

No, no, I am not trying to get too low, I am worried to not be in the hormonal equilibrium they are talking about...
I had terrible hormonal problems, and since I lost so much weight I am feeling so much better I dont wanna lose that??? As far as I know, if we dont go all the way to the hormonal equillibrium, the hormones will go back where they were...
that's all

I have been dying from heat
now I'm free again, to walk in the sun
I had terrible skin
now my skin is like baby's butt
I had terrible moodswings
now I'm happy
I had terrible night sweats
no more
and on and on...

skinny body is just an amazing bonus and dream come true....

Maya, and anybody else reading this (due to it being a refeed diary). I think I am a bad example for a gauge as to what is happening at this stage in the program. My whole situation is slightly different as I was never over weight until I hit my late 40's. My weight gain wasn't ever a function of having a eating disorder emotional or otherwise. I haven't had a weight problem until recently due to my penchant for only eating when hungry (like a car, I'd fill up when the tank ran dry). This led to a habit of only eating once a day late at night and then nibble till I went to bed. Wrong!?!

When I quit smoking 3.6 years ago I also managed to pack on an additional 10 kg. (For a large number of you, my 25kg is a very small amount) For me it was horrendous after looking at myself at 45 and now. Whether or not I would get the hunger would be dependent of a lot of things (probably most of all would be recognizing it as hunger). I've been full every day since I started the diet in January and now it's even worse. But the losses are still there so who am I to complain. I just don't know. Maybe I'm just different?

Up 200g this morning but very small MBM so no surprises. Still 200g below bottom of Cohen range of 69kg. Asy's comments on other thread somewhat interesting as I'm curious as to what difference it will make to my "maintenance" after this is over as I've never experienced any hunger on this program from the very first day till now. I've been eating larger quantities of food since the day I started the program. Guess only time will tell.

Like you SMS i never experienced any hunger on the diet, particularly the first week, when I just breezed through it. Whilst I feel I am getting hungry now, Im not really convinced that Its not more a matter of being tired of the same old food, rather than really having any great hunger.

Im making sure im eating all the fruit and crispbreads this past week or so and find having a fruity chewing gum gives me the sweet boost I think Im missing.

Love seeing your very comprehensive daily eating plan.

Weather here in Perth has turned rather cold this past week, and has me thinking thoughts of hot chocolate and lattes. So I really do suspect my 'hunger' is just cravings.

Interesting discussion about the time for refeed, SMS. I was interested tonight to see your post after visiting your clinic. There's nothing in our programmes on when we are ready for refeed. As I said in the other thread, my understanding from my consultant was similar to your understanding.
