Default surgery

Hi Everyone

I am feeling a bit worried as I need to have surgery on Wednesday so I need to fast from midnight Tuesday. This means no breakfast and probably no lunch and then they are going to probably try and give me a sandwich or biscuits later in the day. Does anyone have any advice, I don;t want to stuff things up, the following Monday is my 4 week blood test and weigh in and I have stuck 100% and don't want to stuff it up.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Alana

HI Alana,

Well good luck with the surgery. I hope everything goes well.
Remember health always comes first. That said I know what you mean about the sandwiches and biscuits. Could you take your meal with you so that when you come out of surgery you can have a 100% Cohens meal to get you back on track.

i can't see how you can get around the fasting and you may have problems with the timing. One thing I have used on a very odd occasion when timing was out of my hands is to have the same protein which means you can have the meals a bit closer than 5 hours apart. Thus depending on how the timing goes you could have meal 2 & 3 for after surgery and a few hours later then wait 5 hours to have meal 1. Or alternatively choose the cheese option so that meal 1 and 2 are less than 5 hours apart.

Sometimes we just have to do the best we can through no fault of our own. In those cases I don't think it is a deviation - just doing the best you can do - an oopsie someone used to call them.

Remember health first

Hi Shanara

Thanks for the reply, just to clarify if I use the same protein and have 2 and 3 after the surgery and have meal 1 later, does meal 1 have to be the same protein or just what I would normally have?? If I went with the cheese option you are saying I can have it for 1 and 2 so what would I have for meal 3?
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Alana

Hi Alana

It is difficult for me to answer you specifically as each persons programme is different.

It is much preferable that all protein meals are at least 5 hours apart. However, if that just can't be ie: you come out of surgery and do not have time to eat your meals with 5 hours between them then have them closer but choose the same protein so that your body is digesting the same protein rather than a different one.

I have used this when circumstances are out of my control as they will be when you have surgery. It is the way to stay as close to 100% as possible.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks Shanara

I will just prepack 2 meals with the same protein and hope for the best! I probably wouldn't be so obsessed about it but the following Monday is my first weigh in and blood test and I have done so well so far i just don't want to take a back step.

Thanks again
Alana

Question Surgery - What do I do?

Hi All,

Just got home from work to find a letter here from the hospital saying I'm booked in for removal of my gall bladder in 3 weeks! Yikes! I understand I can follow my program up until the surgery, but what do I do afterwards? I'll be in hospital for at least overnight with no way to prepare and eat my own meals. I've emailed the clinic but wanted to see if any of you have had any experience with this?

Thanks as always,

Sam x
