Hi S2BS. You are so right, this is a lifestyle and I am trying to enjoy the journey. This is about so much more than the food.

You are so right: "it's a lifestyle, not a race"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are the words that probably describe the best how I'm thinking/feeling now too. After my 3 plus years on this forum I finally decided to ditch the weekly list of kilos lost and the eternal self-beating of being perfect. I'm now on my eight week of doing the best I can without the guilt trip and I have never felt better about the program, my progress and most importantly my head-space Slowly does it, let your mind follow as well

Well done Louise!!!!

Thanks for your visits everyone I'm trucking along okay, slow but steady.

I just discovered this TV show on MTV called "I used to be fat" and have watched the first episode. While it's not a Cohen's kind of eating plan the person had a trainer and went to the gym etc. but I found it so encouraging to see how well she did and the amount of weight she lost in a short time. It was really motivating for me and so I think I will watch an episode when I'm feeling bleh and tempted to go off plan.

I'm also trying not to weigh myself as often. I have this silly thought that if I lose a good amount of weight then I can reward myself with naughty stuff and if I don't lose a good amount then I feel sad and want to comfort myself with naughty stuff! Lol, it just messes with my head. I'm not sure how long this will last but for now I'll give it a try.

I also have a very underutilised treadmill and have been thinking that I may start using it a few times a week - but not to overdo it - just to get moving a bit more.

Yep haven't we all been there in some shape and form

Apart from my -10kg haircut, I try to 'treat' myself everyday with something, but it's 'silly' and simple things like wear a nice shirt or paint my nails, or use the nice soap in the shower, clean one drawer and make it look organised and pretty. Little things that make me feel nice and in a strange way keeping me in line and not looking for food...I've written so much about the mental preparation today but seems like we are all thinking about the same things at the moment

Keep on trucking along Louise! You're doing great!!!!! Remember what you wrote, it's not a race, it's a lifestyle

I love the idea of your treats Soleil Thanks for sharing them. I think I will do the same.

We had a long weekend in Perth and I enjoyed being a little bit lazy but today I got up and did an hour on the treadmill walking at varied paces. It was good to be moving. After my walk on the treadmill I was hot and thirsty so had a smoothie for breakfast made with my portions of yoghurt and mango. It was delicious and felt so decadent! Lol, all in the mind I tell you!

Haven't weighed for a week because I'm not going to sabotage myself but will see how I feel next week. Hubby and I will be away for a few days celebrating our wedding anniversary. Hopefully the weather is nice and we can go for some decent walks. Not sure how I will go with the eating plan but I intend to eat Cohen friendly even if I don't weigh everything.

Anyway, off to work early today so will try and catch up on some more diaries when I get home.

Lousie

Thanks STSK for your visit

Yesterday didn't go quite according to plan as we have a guest staying over. This meant I didn't have any treadmill time, which isn't a big issue but when it came time for me to make my meals our guest was cooking in the kitchen and then I had to go to work. To cut a long story short, I didn't eat my prescribed meals, apart from breakfast, and probably ended up way short on food. I had plain cheese and crackers for lunch and then when I finished work and came home I had no dinner prepared because of the kitchen issues earlier. I wasn't about to cook at midnight, apart from disturbing our guest, so ate an orange (from allowance). I did also have a small cup of coffee at work with a drop of milk because I can't drink it black :P

Needless to say, I wasn't actually hungry so didn't suffer much that way - just annoyed that my prescribed meals weren't happening.

Anyway, today I managed to do my hour on the treadmill and had my yummy smoothie for breakfast. About 5 minutes before I finished my treadmill time I was starting to feel hungry but knew I would be able to have breakfast straight afterwards. I also had time to think about the hunger and realised that I was embracing it rather than hating it. For so many years I have just stuffed my face with food without feeling hungry or the need to eat - just ate because it was there, to cover emotions, because it was yummy ... many unhealthy reasons. I've decided I'm going to enjoy the hungry feeling when it happens from now on. I will take that as a sign it's time to feed my body rather than eating for the sake of it or "because it's dinner time" or any other silly reason.

And ... I know this may not sound true but it feels like my body is starting to tighten and tone even after just a few sessions on the treadmill.

Things don't always go to plan and that's ok Well done on sticking to the program as well as you could. I've come to learn that my life is totally not 100% predictable and sometimes you just have to make do, these are also the times you get to learn about choises, maybe even think about what life in maintenance will be like and what choises would we make there..

Fantastic you've started on the treadmill too!!!!! Who knows where that will lead you to, will you become to love it, will you want more, might you join the gym even. Nothing over the top of course but really how exciting!!! I cannot wait to loose these kilos and next year add more exercise to my life, the way I feel at the moment I'm like heck why not run my first 10k run. Chances are I won't but my point is that I've toyed with the idea, and that is already something!

S2BS, I admire you for:

1. not letting unexpected changes derail your plan - that is huge and will serve you so well! As will
2. your ability to stay away from the scales and
3. moving your body.

And I feel the same way about exercise - even after a few of days of walking and yoga, I feel so much better, and feel like my body is tighter, which motivates me to continue.

I also like the idea of daily treats that do not involve food. So many of us focus on the goal, which can seem so far away. Why not be kind to yourself every day? Love that!

Reading your diary has helped me a lot today. Thank you.

Thanks for your visits everyone. I really treasure your encouragement and support.

Well, tomorrow is our wedding anniversary so we will be away for the rest of the week. The way I am feeling now I don't want to eat bad stuff while we are away but I will not be taking prepared Cohen's meals. The plan is to eat Cohen friendly and not to stress too much about food and meals. My whole life feels like it's been one diet after another and even when I was gaining weight it was a case of endless day one's. I want to get past that and eat what I know is right because I want to not because I'm on another diet. That guilt cycle is nasty and derails me too often. I'm going away guilt free with no plans to overindulge in food, good or bad.

Watch this space.

S2BS - your attitude to feelings of hunger really resonates with me. I take away that you are embracing the signals from your body - that means it's working efficiently. I like it!

Hey S2BS!

I second Soleil's post! You learn about healthy life long choices when life prevents you from being 100% on plan. And sticking with it, despite these moments means that you are building great habits and a strong healthy mindset about food. You will have a wonderful trip and celebration and then you'll be right back here and right back on plan, I have no doubt. Great attitude, and have a great trip!

Thanks for your visits everyone I'm back and looking forward to getting back on track tomorrow. We had a great time away - the first in years - and while it was only a few days it was really relaxing and so good. Needless to say, I didn't stress about eating on plan and haven't weighed myself. I know my weight will be up (at least it feels like it) but hopefully it will soon be gone as I intend being 100% again from tomorrow.

To be honest, I hate how I feel when I haven't eaten 100% Cohen's... motivation enough to keep going with clean eating I think and I am really looking forward to feeling good again.

Bring on the new week!
