Hi sookie_swan! Welcome to the forum! You will be amazed at how simple this plan is. The one thing you really need to be vigilant about is pre-planning. Always plan your meals well ahead of time so that you are not tempted to make a bad choice. It is pretty easy not to cheat when you think that this is your medicine to your medical issue. Best of luck on your plan!

Hello all!

35 year old mum to two small boys here - have been struggling with my weight for around ten years now and just feel if I don't find something that works NOW I might not be around to enjoy and support my boys as they grow up.

I feel so old, so tired, so fat, so bloated, so pathetic, so lazy, so GUILTY! Most people that know me would say I am anything but lazy, but I feel like a failure in this part of my life... I'm sure plenty of you know just what I mean. Have about 40kgs to lose. Ugh.

I haven't started the program yet, but am booked into an info session on Tuesday night - hubby is very supportive though and after hanging around the forums, talking to the lady at the clinic and knowing that something has to change, I'm certain I'll be having my blood tests shortly. I have been on metformin to try and help with weight loss to no avail, and need to have that out of my system before I can do the blood tests.

Looking for to both offering and receiving some extra help from this forum

I just wanted to add - for the sake of being completely honest - that I am really scared. Scared that if this doesn't work, that's it. That I'm stuck in this revolting body forever.

I've done Jenny, SureSlim, Lite n Easy - and then in 2004 I had a lap band put in. Seven years later I am 12kgs heavier than when I had it put in and made the decision to have the rotten thing taken out in January - thinking that the fact that I couldn't eat a salad might be the cause behind my constant fatigue.

If a lap band didn't work - can this? I know my hormones are all over the place. I am, in fact, seeing an endocrinologist about it - but unless you are at the extremes with a diagnosable disease or syndrome, they don't seem too interested. Please let this be the thing that works for me!

Hi twoboys,

I think you have finally hit the Jackpot !! And I don't say that lightly.

I have read of MANY who come here at their wit's end, having tried everything, like you - then they do Cohens and start to LIVE again.

If you have the time, go read some diaries (both Completed, and current). You will hear your very words echoed many times over in their early posts. Their later posts have mostly turned right around.....

Re the Metformin, if you put that word into the "Search" box (top, right), you will get to read MANY threads that discuss how others have gone on this. And largely, the news is GOOD !!

And, for some really good news, click the link below :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5249

That link above talks of the "Physical Changes apart from Weightloss" that people on Cohens can look forward to. I'd think the smile on your face will only get wider and wider as you read it.

Go get started, twoboys - we look forward to having you as a Cohenite,

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Thanks Koh and Mary - I have just been reading some of the diaries and looking at some pics and already feel, I don't know, like I'm in the right spot... can't wait for the info night Tuesday!

Thanks for the link Koh - it was that thread that hubby and I read the other night - the one that made us go "let's do it!".. and you're right - my smile made my jaw ache!

Hello twoboys and welcome to the forum. You made the right decision with doing 1pd. I, too have tried, Jenny, Weight Watcher's, as well as other plans. I have really not had success until this one. I also just bought the book The Beck Diet Solution: How to Think Like a Thin Person. I realize I need to change the way I think about food and this book is fantastic. I highly recommend it. I don't know about you, but I want to change my mind along with my body so that I don't end up overweight again! Be patient and positive - the weight will begin melting off you soon! Good luck to you and welcome!

Hi twoboys, I too really had to ask myself when I paid over the $1,000.00 was I really going to work this programme? was I committed? could I stick to it? etc etc, I have done many many other weight loss solutions in my 48 years. This programme is amazing. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I never thought I had another diet left in me, i was so beaten. I am on week 11 and have lost over 15kgs and feel amazing. Sometimes i just can't believe it. Welcome, you can do it

Hi there twoboys. I was also very sceptical about the diet, also having tried everything else before (including a lap band). The results I have seen are incredible though!! The diet is not hard work, but it is strict and as long as you stick to the rules, you WILL lose weight.
I am on week 6 and have lost an incredible 14.7kg already .

I don't think I ever introduced myself - I am a 37 year old mom of (also) 2 boys and have struggled with my weight my entire life. I have never been a skinny girl and I think that has almost given me an excuse to pick up weight. I have gotten to a point now though where I have to do something for myself about myself before it gets out of control (I hope I am making sense here). I am determined to not go into my 40's as a fat chick, but as a healthy slim lady.

Oh thank you so much for the welcome skwerly, zq and linc - and congratulations on your amazing progress so far... looking forward to joining you! Precisely linc - I do not want to go into my forties looking like the Goodyear blimp and feeling 104! Time for a change. Hmmm... I don't think I ever introduced myself. I'm Arlene (Len) from Manila. I started Cohen more than 2 weeks ago and I'm loving the program and this forum too! I have been looking at amazing photos but, most especially, i love reading about people's resolve and strength in the face of all the challenges. *hugs to everyone* very inspiring!

hi! i received my eating plan. i signed up with online cohen. is it normal that it didn't provide ANY info at all except the ff:
a) target weight
b) no of grams per variant per meal
c) a recipe book
d) advice to take in "lots of water"

nothing was given regarding soy sauce, curry, water intake, juice, coffee, tea, etc. i'm getting loads more info in the forum. why is this so?

i'm also scared that i won't make it or it won't work. anyway, will be busy planning my meals the next few days and psyching myself up. : )

Hi!
I am starting Cohens tomorrow. I actually got the program when I was 16, and lost 25kg on it back then. I'm embarrassed to say that I got down to only 5 kg to start my refeed and somehow I fell off the wagon. I guess being in highschool was what held me back. With a big underage drinking scene, and social highschool events, parties, I got caught up in being a teenager. Over the last few years I have put the weight back on which is really disappointing, but I'm ready to go back on it again. I'm at a much calmer point in my life now, and I've matured immensely (I'm happy to say!) and ready to be healthy again. Im ready to have excellent skin again, no period pains, and look utterly fabulous! :P So I've got about 30kg to lose, but Cohens has already proved itself to me. I'm hoping the forum will keep me going. Wish me luck!

P.s. Thanks to all the strong people on here who have taken/ are taking the journey. Youve been a massive inspiration for me.

Hi Everyone,

I'm so glad i found this forum for people who are into Cohen's. Im from the Philippines and the Cohen Diet has been gaining a lot of believers and supporters over here - not to mention people joining the program. I've heard a lot of good feedback from people i know that joined the program - so far all with good results! So here i am!

I did my blood test last week and i'm just waiting for my program. I'm excited and nervous at the same time!

Browsing through the forum really helps a lot in understanding what happens during the program - what to expect, tips and tricks and the moral support is an added bonus.

Looking forward to a new me
