Well done Annabelle Joy,

I started Cohen's on 26/1/08 have lost approximately 13kg. I see that you are around my age (53 years young). Its seems that as we are a tad bit older than some it takes a little bit longer to loose the weight we have to loose. But i must say "Never, Never, Never, Give up." Well done and i wish you great success

Great to see your fantastic loss AJ!! You are so almost into the 80s!!!

Probably all that water means you are due for a big loss any day now. Sounds like you had a lovely, peaceful Easter.

Thanks for all your support in my diary. My hubby is doing well and getting better everyday which is encouraging. I have had a few hiccups over the past week, but am back on track now

Cheers,
eskimokiss

Hi AJ,

The scales are obviously being good to you since I last logged on

I am sleeping so soundly these days. I used to be a light sleeper but now I sleep so soundly I don't wake up at the slightest sound.
I usually get up once a night but go straight back to sleep. The benefit is that I am not so tired during the day in fact I am not tired at all during the day.

Here is some encouragement for those scales to keep going down

Cheers

Tuti

Day 6, Week 11
Two days in a row Down another 200 gms. Hope that raft I found wasn't yours, Irene

I had a fairly busy day at the winery yesterday, only a couple of toilet breaks. However, I made up for that while I was reading diaries in the evening, plus overnight, so seem to have cleared away yesterday's fluid. Tasted the new merlot. It's really lovely, however I spat it out, rinsed and spat again. Must get a few bottles for when I can drink again Didn't sleep so well last night, not relaxed when I went to bed and it took me a very long time to get to sleep. Later, I think I was a bit hungry. I listen to the radio if I can't sleep. I get to hear all sorts of interesting things during the night I have a radio with a Sleep button on it (turns off after an hour), and a speaker that slips into my pillow that I put my ear on so my husband isn't disturbed.

A couple of positives from the past two days. I did some trying on of 'too small' clothes on Monday and found that some that were too small three weeks ago now fit, and others that were way too small are now only too small My husband commented yesterday that I'm moving a lot differently now. I haven't noticed, but he says it's very noticeable that I'm moving much more smoothly, particularly noticeable from behind

Thanks, everyone, for posting, and for stopping by. Debs, Katie, Paza and EK, I'm certainly looking forward to being in the 80s. It should happen sometime in the next week. I seem to have been in the low 90s forever! However, I checked back, Cheral. It was only last Wednesday that I was down 13.1 kg, now it's 14.2 kg. Sometimes it seems slow, and certainly others do have some much more spectacular losses, but it's steady, continual losses. Maybe they don't come daily as we age, but definitely there week by week. Besides, on Cohen's the years drop away with the kilos

Paza, I hope you're feeling better and EK I hope your life settles back to normal soon. This diet needs full time attention and routine. It must be difficult when other issues become more important.

Leigh, to my knowledge, there are a few in the 50s and two of us (myself and SMS) in the 60s. At the moment, I think Cheral comes next at 57, and there are several others around 53-54.

Thanks for the affirmation, Katie and Annie. Thanks for the magic Irene and Tuti. It seems to work for me, don't know why it won't for you, Irene.

hats off to you aj, tasted the new merlot and spat it out....wow i am seriously impressed...

it is funny how it feels like we have been sitting on the same weight for ages and then you check back and go 'oh'. i now feel like the 90's and 80's flew by but i didnt feel like that at the time.

gotta love those clothes mate....i have on a pair of size 12 jeans today that i wore a month ago and they fitted well....today i needed to tighten the belt otherwise they are sliding down my hips. trying on clothes has been a major motivation for me right from the start. for me it has really been all about looking good in my clothes...so i know what you mean.

lol at what your hubby said....gee they are all the same and they dont change with age obviously....single minded those men of ours.....

btw you may be the oldest but you definately aint the slowest mate...11 weeks and what 15?kgs...not bad mate, not bad at all....

roll on 80's...you will feel fantastic....i also love those significant numbers but remember....try not to think to much about it...otherwise if your anything like me you'll be waiting waiting waiting out there on the island with irene....which could be fun actually

i think your doing great aj, really motivational for others as well so good on you.

Hey AJ,

Another decent drop for you today. Great!

I was curious after reading your last post and pen's post so I did some checking. At 76 days in and 14.2 kg you are averaging 186g/day.

If I just use my cohen start and not my 1 week pre-cohen, I'm 74 days in and 14.4kg down for an average of 194g/day. That means we are almost spot on. Your's is just a more exciting ride (rollercoaster! WWWWwwwweeeeeeeeeeeee).

Good work AJ, I love it when you keep getting your losses!!
I don't know how you managed to spit the merlot out, lol, I think I would really have struggled with that one!
As SMS calculated, you are both doing really well, averaging nearly 200gm loss per day!!
I think you will enjoy using the hydrocoach. It holds just over 600ml so you need to fill it regularly, but if it held any more, then it would be too heavy to carry around. The carrying handle is great, makes it easy to carry.
Thanks also for dropping by my diary so regularly!

YAY AJ! Look at you flying on into the 80's! It's seriously not going to be long now. That's just SO fantastic! And ah, finding clothes that fit is just so cool! I love the way my wardrobe is just increasing! Although, I'm going to have to get rid of some of my old favourites now - they're getting just too baggy ... there are definitely worse problems to have me thinks!

Remember I told you I was experimenting with the cutting back the crackers and fruit? Well it's been a week or so now, and I definitely believe that cutting back on the crackers has helped my losses. I've always eaten them when I've been hungry, but on the days that I could do without them I did and saw the results on the scale the next day. Was just interesting to note for me!

Here's wishing for another loss for you tomorrow

My NYF Diary
Default Re: Annabelle Joy's diary

Day 7, Week 11

Up 200 gms today. Irene, my boat's round in the sandy cove. I went to the gym yesterday, don't know if that's the reason. Small increases are not uncommon for me, particularly when I'm busy, and I kept myself fairly busy yesterday. I'll try again on Friday, and next week and if there's a definite pattern I'll drop it until I finish. It's really very gentle exercise that I'm doing, difficult to imagine that it would have any effect on my weight loss. I met a woman there yesterday who was hoping to be slim for her daughter's wedding next year. I thought to myself that she was going about it entirely the wrong way. I can't imagine anyone losing weight if that's all they did.

I'm meeting friends for lunch today. At least, they're lunching; I'll be sitting and enjoying their company It's too early for me to eat anyway. Most haven't seen me since I started, so it will be interesting to hear their comments.

I tried a real challenge (for me) yesterday. I would like to make the cake for my son's wedding, had planned to try recipes, but then started on Cohen's. I can breeze through dinners, wine tastings, people eating chocolate in front of me, etc. but my real downfall is putting food into my mouth when I'm cooking, particularly anything sweet. Comes from being given the spoon to lick when my mother was cooking (and she was an excellent cook) Anyway, yesterday I decided to tackle a new fruitcake recipe that sounds nice. I chopped all the fruit into small pieces then mixed in some rum and have left it to marinate for a few days. Gave it a stir this morning. Nothing went into my mouth No extra bits of fruit, no sticky fingers covered with little bits of fruit, no spoons of rum flavoured fruit, nothing I still have to make the cake, but I think I can do it. It's giving me confidence to try more. If I can overcome that failing and kick the habit it will definitely make maintenance easier for me.

Thanks for stopping by, everyone. It always helps to know there are others out there cheering me on.

Penny, in this case my husband didn't mean it in the way that I made it sound, but you're right, they never change. He can still appreciate a nicely proportioned woman. His brother, at 67, has just separated from his wife and emailed us a detailed and honest explanation of reasons that would make Irene's hair curl. The next big number for me is not getting past 90 kg (which will be nice), but getting past 88.7 kg (14 stone)

Thanks, SMS. I know my average is still pretty good. However, it's boosted by the first month. If I take that out it's looking a bit sad, except when compared with any other diet I keep hoping for some big falls to boost it, but am resigned to the current pace for the longer term. It's still pretty good by most standards, and I'll get there in the end, just not as quickly as I might like.

Vee, I ordered one of those bottles last night. I see it can take up to 3 weeks for it to be sent.

Irene, I agree about the spitting. Prior to Cohen's I never spat or tipped out wine, not matter how many wineries and wines we visited in a day. I'm not really convinced that you can get the full flavour of the wine if it doesn't go down the back of your tongue, but may have to tip excess out of the tasting glass post Cohen.

Becca, Easter did seem to complicate things. Hopefully we can organise a meeting one weekend that you can get down to, and maybe next time you're down.

BFG, I often don't eat all my crispbread allowance. It doesn't seem to make much difference to me. Best thing for me seems to be having a relaxed day when I can get rid of the fluid during the day. Too busy and my weight goes up.

Thanks for calling by, Connie. Yes, wine's not a problem for me at the moment. My body's probably appreciating having a few months to dry out, too

Have a great day, everyone.

AJ

Hi AJ!

Sorry about that little daily gain today, I'm sure you will have shed it by tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if it is the exercise that is causing those small gains.
Well done on the baking and not licking achievement. It's so great to hear that you have overcome one of your major hurdles!
Sorry to hear that the hydracoach is going to take a while to get to you. I have to admit, I'm loving mine, don't know how I lived without it! Hahahaha

Hope your day is excellent!

My lovely partner said that tonight on the tennis court I looks just normal - not fat not skinny just normal.
Funnily enough it made me feel great I no longer look like the odd one out - it feels great.
They sometime say some back handed compliments don't they. Gotta love em. My partners keeps getting stressed
when my bust measurements shrink - somethings they just don't get.

AJ, amazing to hear about your boat build and the great voyage. How long were you out sailing for? It all makes me a bit nervous.

Good luck with the move into the 80s and under 14 stone - you will be there in no time.

Cheers
Daisy
