Thumbs up Better Still Make your own !!!!

I have made my yogurt for many years and its way cheaper and way better than lots that you buy - at the moment I use the easiyo type at the moment as its readily available at Woolworth s Coles and most grocery shops - anywhere - as well as you can buy the powder in bulk - it is very simple to make and you can flavor it and sweeten it by using diet soft drink - it is very cheap and easy - clean and simple - especially to make it without sugar and then also to make then store and I use half my fruit allowance i.e. 1/2 or whole apple @ night (Meal 1) or a measure of it - frozen whole mangoes from cases I bought in summer just slice up frozen using a serrated knife - and no need for any sweetener - and when whizzed up with the hand stick blender and frozen is a great simple meal.

Here is the main web site -

http://www.easiyo.com/

This is the one I use know and it is very good - 1 liter for about $2.50 - and no throw away tubs !!!

You can even buy it online at

Thanks for all the options. I have tried Vaalia and found it ok. A little bitter but I'm getting used to it.
Might try some of the others suggested. It's just quicker than cooking an egg every day.

Default Easiyo

Hi Andy
Yes, I have this system but was never able to make low-fat yoghurt that tasted as good as some of the bought ones. Haven't made it since starting as I wasn't sure if it was on-plan. I also tried using what I had made as a starter which should work in theory, but didn't in practice.
Might get it out and try again!
Cheers
Lyndis

Thumbs up

I have used a couple of table spoons of a bought one in some of mine if there is a bit left over I just add it as a starter as well- and use warm water not cold tap water - not to hot so as to kill the yogurt bug - I also found that you need to change the water back to boiling in the morning after the first 12 hours and I leave it in the big white thing for most of the day as well as the night - I make it at night and often don't put it in the fridge - especially in winter until the next night - a good 24 hrs later - it does not go off - I think on this program you will find its always going to be very bland and it is an acquired taste that grows on you - especially as you get further into Cohen's in weeks - your taste buds will change considerably as the sugar claers from your blood. It gets better and better and much more natural tatsing I found as the weeks go by - and not just for yoghurt - but all good food.

I was having an egg everyday but thought that might not be very good for me, so l switched to yoghurt for breakfast. I tried Jalna but it was quite bitter. I tried Vaalia and love it. It is so smooth and creamy, l had to check the label to ensure it was natural yoghurt and that it was low in fat!

Thanks for the info on making homemade yoghurt its handy to know.

Hi
I love my yogurt..The best Ive found from my local organic store is Barambah Organics - Natural Low Fat Yogurt.I alternate between that and Jaalna....For something a bit different dissolve some coffee and sweetner and then mix the yogurt allowance through...Its yum...Add a dash of cinnamon as well..
Cheers

I started with Pauls Natural 99.8% fat free. I have never been a Yoghurt lover. And after the Pauls which I combined with my allowance of Paw Paw nothing changed my opinion. I really looked at the alternatives available for breakfast away from yoghurt.

Today I bought vaalia low fat yoghurt in a 175g tub and I have used my total Honey Dew melon allowance to hopefully give me a better taste for the yoghurt breakfast. My first impressions licking the spoon after preparing for tomorrows breakfast was encouraging.

The 175 gram tub is the contents. I checked the overall weight and it was 181 grams so that makes it so easy tp prepare. I have tossed out the Pauls stuff half finished and never to be consumed again . . . by me.

Hi All,

I am a Tamar Valley No Fat lover. It creamy and thick with some sweetener and cin its sensational.

I have found that Decor (Safeway/Woolworths) make little plastic square tubs that are exactly 175gms. So I buy my big tub of yogurt and then seperate it into my perfect Decor portions and am ready to go in the morning without any weighing at all. LOVE IT!!!!

Hey bella

I havent managed to find the natural tamar valley, however I currently purchase black swan and will continue until I can try and compare the Tamar valley. I buy it from Woolworths, I think its there brand. I buy the low fat greek yoghurt, didnt really like the no fat one. This is the best tasting yoghurt I have found so far. Good luck
