Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Hello all,
I had a great time at Disneyland. Although I had 2 deviations over the weekend. Vitamins seem to be working on my dry skin. My urge to go back to my old eating habits is very strong. I am trying to focus and stay strong willed. My food is becoming boring as I cook the same way all the time. I will search the website for creative ideas. I also started getting leg cramps. My counselor said my blood work was ok but then reminded me of a lot of things like not eating more than 2 crackers per meal, eating every 5 hours, etc. I don't actually know what they look for in the blood test but mine didn't show a lot of difference. Anybody out there has any comments about their second blood test? Thanks Yunik |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Hi Yunik,
I have been quietly following your diary for a few weeks now. Sounds like you are doing really well. To only deviate twice when at Disneyland is pretty impressive!!!! In terms of vitamins, I take Fish Oil, Multi and Chromium. I also take a lot of other tablets at specific different times for my Hashimoto's disease so I often forget my fish oil. But I have found that my weight loss slows if I forget the fish oil. Not sure if it is a coincidence or not but now I am really anal about it and it must be in the morning with breakfast. Which vitamins do you take? Also, I suffered a lot from cramps and dizzy spells. I had to up my salt intake significantly. Pink Himalayan Rock Salt is best. Really helps. With respect to the boredom of the food. I really started to suffer that too. I started looking through the recipes and I have a few favourites: Curry with "protein" plus vegies really satisfies (I even drink the juice afterwards like a soup :P) and cheesy tomato, mushroom and oregano pizza (using two crackers as the base). I wasn't too fussed about the sweets as the fruit tended to satisfy in that area. Anyway, I hope some of my experience and suggestions help but everyone is different. You need to work out what works for you Keep up the great work and you'll be there in no time!!!

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Dear AZ1908,
Thank you for your response. Like the others suggested I am taking Chromium, Biotin, Fish Oil and a MultiVitamin. I also did buy the pink himalayan salt. I was wondering you mentioned 2 foods and I don't know the recipe of those. Would you mind sharing them with me. By the way, I am so sad today. I weigh myself almost everyday and it looks like this week I will not lose any weight I may even gain a pound. I am so upset and sad but it is my fault. I had a couple of deviations. I also think I may have eaten an extra cracker one day. I really need to be stricter to myself. I am so mad at myself... Yunik |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
I am so happy today. I passed my halfway point. On my way to getting to my target weight. My journey is slow but I am learning a lot. I love that I can read about everyone's journey.
I am happy to report that the fish oil had tremendously help my super dry skin. Drinking water is a little easier now for me. I am reading this book recommended to me about changing the way you think about food. Thinking "thin". Again slowly but surely. I have not exercised though because I feel a little weak. Don't know why. Yunik |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Dear fellow friends,
I am about to break down. I am having some serious craving on CARBS. Bread, pizza, something... What should I do? I even dream about it. I am staying strong but yesterday I had 2 bites of a garlic bread. Shame on me!!! So delish but so bad for me. Today is a new day and trying to stay strong. Going to Disneyland tomorrow so I need to be stronger since I will get to smell churros. Yunik! |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Dear Tes,
I love your happy dance!!! I am so glad to meet an online friend like you who is very supportive. Yesterday I had the guts to review my doctor's note. I read that aside from a fatty liver I also have an enlarged liver. So I got so depressed. I hope all the sacrifices that I am doing now is making my liver healthier. My mom in law just passed away on 12/31/2014 from liver cancer. I am so scared now.... I don't want to be a burden to anyone. On the outside it looks like I am getting healthier but what matters most is my inside health. whatever is going on in my stomach. Since I started Cohen, I no longer feel bloated. The pain from my diveticulosis subsided. My skin is also better now. So it is all going in the right directions. I have encouraged other friends to join but they don't like the committment and the money spent. I care about the money but I care more about my health. Thank you again TES for your support!!! I need it! Yunik |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Good morning all
Today is my weigh-in day. To my delight, I am more than halfway to my goal. I signed up for my refeeding, thinking positive that I will be closer to my goal in a month. I don't know much about the re-feeding but I am excited to have new type of food introduced to my diet again. Thank you for all of you the have supported me in my journey. So close now... Yunik |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
June 5, 2015
So many things happening in my life. I just found out that my nephew may need a heart transplant if the meds don't work. My sister does not want to talk to anyone about it. I am so sad. Things between me and my hubby is also not going well. At any chance he can get he snaps/gets mad at me. Needless to say the only thing I can control is my food and yet not having any luck either. I may have reached a plateau. My weight has not changed. Is it pretty typical to not lose any weight in one week? My back had been hurting me too. I will start a slight exercise regimen to kick up my metabolism. Just walking.... I have reached BOREDOM with my food. I have eaten the same thing over and over or just rotate it weekly. I think I might explore some more. I did try making baked kale chips and it was a hit. However I felt like that might have contributed to me not losing any weight. I did not weigh it before I eat it, so I just eyeball how much I can eat. I plan to make some baked apples chips. That might satisfy my sweet tooth. One of the food I miss is pork. That is not allowed on my plan and I don't know why.... Is it allowed on anyone's plan? I am so frustrated with myself for not being able to achieve my goal for this week. I have 2 more days but so far I did not lose any weight this week. I feel a little bloated and sluggish. Yunik |

Yunik you are dealing with a lot. I am sorry! I hope your nephew gets better! Amazing how sometimes communication is difficult in times if stress but try at least push hubby he us your support to get you through dealing with your own feelings. Your sister probably finds it less painful not to think or talk about the what ifs!
Re the kale you must weigh it first but it's never affected my weight . I find the baked apple a drop of stevia in sprite zero with cloves and cinnamon is sweeter than baked apple chips and maybe double the chromium. I dont think anyone is allowed pork unfortunately. Plateaus happen you need to ride it out sadly! Good luck thinking about you and sending tiu a big hug! |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Hi Yunik, it's sad what is happening to your little nephew, little children shouldn't have to deal with life threatening issues, but I firmly believe that the Gods only send us that which we can handle. Everyone is dealing with this in their own way, it will take a lot of love and patience to help your sister, her baby is suffering and she may not want to look to far into the future. Just knowing that you're there for her and love her is what she needs, if she is struggling to deal with this, then it is understandable, poor thing must be beside herself and sick with worry. Sometimes talking about it is too difficult because it can make it seem too real, some people need time to come to terms with things and fingers crossed she seeks you out for comfort soon enough. You sound like a kindhearted person and you're worried about your sister too, so hang in there my dear.
If you're hubby is snapping at you, then calmly tell him to please stop because it hurts your feelings, he may not even realise that he is affecting you in this way. Being assertive in a loving way might make him take notice, I would start with a hug. Hug him and tell him how much you love him and how much you need his support during this time but that lately he has been a bit snappy with you and it is upsetting. You don't have to say this word for word, I'm just trying to give you a strategy to help communicate your feelings. If I have overstepped, please disregard what I've said, I see you in need and I can't help myself Regarding your plateau - join the club my dear, we are in the same boat there only I seem to be losing cms rather than kgs at this stage, not sure why. Lucky for you there is a lot we can do about your boredom and that's to mix it up a bit, use your herbs and spices, try not to fall into a set regime by eating the same things. Walking is a great help with a sore back, just remember to stretch your hamstrings (back of the leg muscle) and there are number of safe ways you can do that - check out google! I miss pork too - it's not on my plan, I was lead to be believe that both port and lamb have high fat content, but then I notice that you can buy leaner pork and lamb and it's leaner than chicken breast! Maybe Dr Cohen is doing some more research in this department - fingers crossed. You've done so well just getting this far I hope you stick with it. Good on you for recording your thoughts and sharing your life with us. I hope it all works out for you and your family. Will say a prayer for you and your family. Hugs Andie

Hi all! I have not posted much lately but quietly reading your posts and I am so happy for everyone's accomplishments especially Tes. I have been feeling really weak lately and my blood pressure is too low 90/60. Not sure if this is normal so I will consult with my doctor. I have been stuck in weight also but I feel that I have lost inches. My husband is trying to feed me more which make it difficult to stick to the plan. This is a new week and I plan to not deviate this week. I did deviate 2 meals last week. So that is not good. I don't know why I am feeling too weak. I will keep you posted !!! Have a great week you all!!! |

Hi all!!! I miss everyone and has not had time to read the forum posts. I tried looking for TES refeed diary and I can't find it. I have great news - no more Blood pressure medication for me. YAY!!! for over 15 years I have been taking this meds and now the reason I am lightheaded and weak is because my BP was too low. It's been three days now that I am off the meds and I feel better. Can you believe it???? My medical doctor said I should continue what I am doing and she agrees with Dr. Cohen's target weight for me. WOW -- I am so happy. What is not so cool.... I have been stuck on my weight for 2 weeks now. Have not lost anything... I am eating according to the plan but so far nothing... Have you guys experienced a plateau??? My weight may be stuck for now but the best news about being off meds is the BEST ever for me!!!! Thank you Dr. Cohen!!! |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Hi Yunik
Sorry for being so quiet Great news on BPmeds what a lovely achievent! I have my referee now but I haven't started yet I will start on Monday. I will set up a diary this weekend. we had a burglary in our home and apart from all the trauma and loss of phones and computers we were out of our home for a few days while we had all the damage fixed. This is a second burglary for us in four weeks one at our own business and a home one. This had me out of routine and not following the strict refeed guide so I have gone on plan for a week to restart. Since you have to weigh every day you can't miss meals like I did or you can't see what the new foods impact may be when you weigh every day. With not computer and phone I was offline for a bit but I just got a new phone so I can keep in touch with you all again. So happy to hear your news - Tes |

Re: Journey to a Healthy YunikPinay
Hello all,
Apologies for not posting for a while. I received my refeed but has not started yet: I'm too afraid to start. I am thinking I might have to drop a couple of pounds more to accommodate for any flucktuations. It's been quite a challenge. I have encountered several roadblocks but kept moving on. I am so happy I found this support group and loved reading everyone's progress. I will continue for another week before I start refeed and will post here. |
