Hey chicky
First of all, I don't think it's going to take you another three months to get to your goal. Obviously we all lose weight at different rates, but I have a feeling you'll be done sooner than you think, especially if you stay d-free, commit to getting lots of rest during this period etc. In any case, even if it does end up taking three months, it really does get a lot easier and become second nature almost. As Mette has said, you have to just take one thing at a time. Set yourself mini-goals, eg: I will get to 63kg, I will get to 61kg, at 60kg I will give myself a little treat (eg: a charm bracelet) and so on. If you think of the journey as little achievements, it won't seem so daunting and before you know it, you'll be closer and closer to the end of your ticker. Your husband's probably right about the folly of daily weighing. I'm trying to wean myself off it, but have found that to be very hard. Chin up, girl! You can do this! |

Hi Ellabelle..
I know just what you mean - its difficult - and I know its worth it but its just difficult, not all the time but sometimes... especially when you see others eating normally. Hang in there Ellabelle.. you can do it! |

I know what you mean. I am so daunted by the time its going to take. However Im so excited about how its going to end. I have asked my friends to give me as many "fat" photos as they can so I can do a monthly photo album. One of my friends said to me last night I wouldnt recognise myself with the ones she has.
This has pushed me to keep going. Maybe ask some friends for some early shots to keep you going. You are doing so well. Good luck |

Thanks Mette, TwoZeds, Francesca, Scottie & Ronky - it's nice to know there are people out there who understand the struggles!!!
Well it's Thursday and I can't wait to jump on the scales on Monday to see what I’ve lost in my second week. I'm hoping for about 1.5kg, but that may be a bit ambitious seeing as I've got 12kg to go... we shall see I guess. I think my favourite Cohens meal is chilli prawns with tomato and mushroom... it is delicious! Oh and I tried the apple microwaved in sprite zero last night and then sprinkled with cinnamon and it wasn't bad at all. Hope everyone has a good day! |

Hi Ellabelle
You are doing so well! Congrats on resisting the temptations! If you can, try and change your thinking so that it does not bring you down so much! My SIL did Cohen's before I did, and she always said, "Its not that I CAN'T have something, it is that I CHOOSE not to have it now, as my weight loss is more important to me right now". It does get easier as you get more into the swing of it and if you can change your focus! Have a great day!! Vee |

I hope the scales reward your determination, Ellabelle. Hmm... I might try that apple thing. I haven't tried it yet...

Hi ellabelle
You are about a week ahead of me so it has been really good to read through your diary... it's kind of a crystal ball a week into my future lol Luckily for me my H2B accidentally broke our scales so I can't weight every day. If they were in the house I would definitely be on them every day. I have to wait until my appointment, which I have tomorrow morning... I will be going in for an appoinment every week for a few weeks to help keep me motivated and will weigh in each time. I know I shouldn't expect much after only 4 real days, but I do want to see SOME movement You are doing so well! I am really proud of how you are resisting the temptation at social functions... this is the killer for me - so hard!! But like you, I am determined. Keep up the good work! |

Vee - You're right... choosing not to have something because you have the big picture in mind is so much different to saying "I can't have..." - thank you for that!
Mette - Thanks heaps! I'm liking the apple thing a lot. Especially if you crush up a crispbread over the top... it's amazing the weird things you start to like while on Cohens hehe Tam - Hello, Thanks for stopping by and congrat's on starting Cohens!! How are you finding your first week? Great idea going in for a weekly appointment to help stay on track! Hope all is well This morning I put my skirt and it's sitting lower on my hips! I am so excited! I really am starting to feel the loss today... It's only a little looser but it certainly helps in the motivation stakes - yipee... Can't wait until week two weigh in on Monday. Aside from a being a little sleep deprived, this week has been great. Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! |

You're doing well, Ellabelle. Congratulations.
I like Vee's comment. I've kept reminding myself that if I can't stick to the diet how can I expect that I will be able to maintain my weight at my goal for the rest of my life. Maybe that thought will help you too. However, it is tough not being able to share all of the experiences of getting together with friends. The first time I had a meal prepared for me at a restaurant was just wonderful, after months of preparing every meal for myself. AJ

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time. My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight. What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/ |

Hi Ellabelle
Yes it's a step in the right direction for all of us... living the Cohens lifestyle. I will admit the first week has been hard, I am organised but it's the outside temptations which are very hard to resist (morning teas at work, fish and chips for dads birthday dinner...). But I am determined. Good luck at your weigh in Monday I'm sure you will have a great result on the scales Tam |

Hi Ladies & thank you for the encouragement!!
Today brings me to the start of my third week on Cohens and I'm excited to report a 1.5kg loss for week 2. In Summary: Week one loss: 2.5kg Week two loss: 1.5kg Total: 4kg Whoo hoo, I'm over a quarter of the way to goal! Weekend was largely uneventful... I did go out for Mexican with a few people last night and managed to avoid eating. Oh, and had a girly movie night on Friday equip with chocolate, cheese & biscuits etc and behaved then. Feel like my resolve is strengthening which is nice |

Hey Ellabelle,
Keep up the great work avoiding all that temptation...i might try not eating at restaurants when I'm out with friends - its a good idea to maybe just eat before/after so you can stick to the plan 100%...I got caught out a bit over the weekend - thanks for the idea. Congrat's on the 4kg down so far!! Em x |

Congrats on the 4kg so far
I went out for dinner on the weekend to a fancy fish and chips place but just had a diet coke and water there, then ate when I got home. I set a goal for myself in the car on the way there, that I WOULD NOT eat even one thing while I was there. It wasn't actually as hard as I thought to resist the chips.... I have found myself in "the zone" do do do do do do do do ...lol Like you, I am hoping it gets easier as time goes on, but will keep setting new mini goals for myself when I feel like I need the motivation. Keep it up! You are doing great and the scales are reflecting that!! |

Mette - Thanks for the encouragement!!!
Indiana13 - I've found eating before I go best, it's easier to resist if I'm already full. Comments from people and questions from the wait staff aren't much fun - but it's worth it in the long run ShrinkingTam - Go you resisting the fish and chips! Mini goals are definitely the way to go. Bit by bit... Feeling great today - managed to catch up on some much needed sleep last night which was good. My back is a little sore today though, not sure if I stretched it too far yesterday on the swiss ball or if I slept funny hrmmm... Still going strong into week three with no deviations... I fear if I deviate once I'll be gone for good so i'm reallllllly, really, reallllly going to work hard at not deviating at all while on the program. This week i'm officially obsessed with chopped up apple, covered with sprite zero, microwaved for 3 minutes, sprite drained off, cinnamon added and crushed up premium cracker over the top! It's like eating apple pie... It's funny, first week I was obsessed with Kiwi fruit, week two it was mango and this week it's the apple thing... who knows what next week will bring haha. Hope everyone has a great day! |

Today marks day 16 on Cohens and wow it's gone really fast! Christmas is going to be here before we know it!
This forum has been such a source of encouragement... just knowing there are others out there who understand is great. Nothing major to report... looking forward to my morning tea mango! Fortunately my husband has almost finished everything from the lolly jar and all of the mint slice biscuits at home! |

D-free really is the way to go. A lot of people have said that one deviation makes the next one easier, and it's too easy to get into a bad spiral. Personally, I just don't want to spend any longer than I have to on the program. I love Cohens, but I already long for normality
Stay strong and keep smiling, Ellabelle!
