Hi foggyduo, thanks for the prayers. Jaden has an infection (my neice couldn't remember what is was called) and is allowed no visitors. Although not happy he is unwell, they are pleased to know that they werent over reacting to his symptoms. Unfortunately my neice now has a breast infection as she wasn't expressing the milk when he wouldn't feed. They are still in hospital but may be out in time for her birthday tomorrow. My poor neice is exhausted from the worry and now being unwell herself. Not how you plan on starting parenthood, she is only 23 so still very young and totally unprepared for this rocky start. She lives with my sister so will have plenty of support when she gets home.

Goodness what a rocky start indeed. Glad they have been able to get to the bottom of it and hopefully now it has been diagnosed it can be treated quickly. That's the thing with young children, they go downhill fast but can come up just as quick.

Feeling a bit frustrated today. First day of week 3 and I dont FEEL like anything is happening. As I have chosen to weigh in fortnightly I thought to keep the spirits up I would get my sister to take my measurements. Not a brilliant move. First measurement (arm) my sister said that has gone UP??!! 1cm off bust, 3cm off waist, 1/2cm off hips, and thigh UP??!! Not sure I want to do any more measuring and that was what I thought would keep me going between weigh ins.

On the upside my neice and her baby were discharged from hospital today and it is my neices birthday but nobody is allowed to visit. Made her a peppermint cake and a chocolate cake today so that should keep her going over the weekend.

Hope everyone else has had a good finish to their week.

Hey Andrea! Don't feel bad - plenty is happening! Yu will just notice/feel it when your body is ready to show you!

Good idea to attempt to measure but I think good measuring is a fine art - I know I can't do it. When my consultant measures me she finds the right spots by pre-measuring other areas, calculating etc. and I still think she does not measure the exact same points every week.

Don't get discouraged now!

I'm sure you will feel much better tomorrow! Take care!

Thanks kenga, will get my sister to do that next time and start from there. Had a great morning, met 3 lovely ladies in CHCH also doing Cohens. It was REALLY encouraging seeing ladybird and how far she had come, she brought her before photo with her and to see what she has achieved in four months is making me a believer all over again. Not that I was starting to disbelieve!!

Felt SO motivated that when I got back, instead of doing all the cupcakes for the Mothers Day service at church tomorrow, I experimented with the turkey breast!! I had a turkey stirfry for breakfast and hadn't enjoyed it that much, but a turkey breast is SO big I had to come up with another way for me to eat the rest of it. So I minced it with ALL my vege allowance (mushroom, onion, green pepper, tomato, parsley) and a cracked pepper vitaweat with a little cumin, salt and pepper. It made 6 reasonable sized meatballs which I panfried with a little olive oil spray. They held together really well. Once they were cooked I added 1/2 cup of water to the pan and scrapped off all the flavouring and poured it over the meatballs. Must admit I did that in case I had overcooked them and they were a little dry! They were better than I expected but I will try something a little different in the flavouring dept with what is left of the turkey. I look forward to being a bit more adventurous as i have been keeping things very simple so far - mostly because I have been enjoying it that way anyway.

Enough rambling, off to do some more reading of diaries then I really MUST get those cupcakes done.

Hi Andrea,

I have just read your diary and wanted to say congratulations. You have had some ups and downs but still manage to stay focussed on the program, so go you!

I hope all is ok in the family department, there is nothing worse than having family in hospital. At least they are out now and hopefully on the mend.

Great work on the catering, sounds like a lovely job. I have recently started to cook my partner very different meals to what I am used to and experimenting (I can't taste test any of it either so I hope he likes it haha). Catering sounds like hard work but rewarding in the end when you see everyone happy, content and full of your lovely food.

Keep up the great work, 5kg down is a great achievement.

Alana

Yummo - Those meatballs sound delicious!!
Great to meet up this morning - nice to meet other people going through the same challenges. I made a stir fry for lunch with steak and assorted veg - all very quick as I had to go out and then, this afternoon, when I had been "dreaming and drooling" about my cheese meal for dinner (grilled mozz on salada - pure decadence) I realised that I had the meat&veg portion amounts for my lunch from the same group my cheese is in (MUCH SOBBING at dinner time when I realised). Now I can spend all day tomorrow focused on dinner tomorrow night AND scraping the grilled Mozz of the tin foil as I NEVER waste it!
Hope you have a good Mother's Day / Sunday.

thanks Alana, ladybird and c-jaye for stopping by. FINALLY got those cupcakes done. Had some left over egg whites from the peppermint cake I made my niece yesterday so made a pavlova as well. Will find someone to give it to at church tomorrow, would be wasted here as only my husband would eat it. Just got back inside and hubby hadn't even realised I was gone! He thought I was still in the office reading all the lovely diaries. Oh well, he has had a big week and worked today as well so will forgive him. Surprisingly he and one of my 18yo twins are watching a movie, it is usually sport sport and more sport from Fri-Sun, guess noone of interest to them is playing at the moment, OR they haven't checked the TV Guide properly! Off to read some more.

Hi Rora, I love how we all speak english but the same word can mean completely different things in different countries! Makes for confusing AND amusing moments.

Turkey pattie #2. I liked the ones I made yesterday, but LOVE the ones I made today. Still minced the left over turkey breast with all my vege allowance but just a different combo today - cabbage, onion, mushroom, courgette, tomato, left out the cracker and put in my own nacho seasoning. YUMMO Cant wait to try it with minced fillet steak! Overall I still prefer doing a stirfry for most meals but the patties will be a nice change when I have a little more time, of course I COULD always make them in bulk and freeze them, now why didn't I think of that earlier. Probably because if I had liked the turkey breast stirfried I wouldn't have made the patties in the first place. DUH.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all you wonderful hard working mothers out there, keep up the great work.

And happy mothers day to you Andrea!!! I hope the boys spoiled you rotten.

Wow Turkey patties... I have only had turkey once for christmas and I wasn't sure if I really liked it. It's just a bit stronger than chicken... however I may just give that a try...

Hope your going well with the shrinking and keeping up with the catering!

Hi Alana, no spoiling for me! Mothers Day is a non-event around here unfortunately. I can probably count on one hand the number of mothers days that anything has been done for me (in 20 years of being a mother!) After 13 years of nothing I went out and bought myself a digital camera. There have been one to two occasions since then when hubby has got the boys to do something, but mostly its nothing. I DID get a "Happy Mothers Day" from one of the twins about 2pm when he got up! As a reward for ALL their efforts, I refused to cook tea for any of them, including hubby, and just looked after myself! Very hard for me to do that though.

I did get a lot of enjoyment out of the ooohh's and arrrhh's when people saw the gorgeous cupcakes I had made for the mothers day service at church.

Andrea

Wowsers Andrea... well I hope you felt great after spoiling yourself for mothers day! And go you for looking after yourself and letting the boys fend for themselves! I totally understand you feeling bad that you did it, but just enjoy the moment. I usually cook my cohens meal and then do Bens and I keep stuffing up cos I can't tast test, so then I sit down to have my meal and Ben goes in and starts stuffing around with MY cooking and then I get angry at him and it ends in a fight because I want to provide a nice meal for him. His argument is that he can cook for himself and not to worry about him... but I just couldn't stand watching him have microwave pizza every night because I was too involved with cooking for myself. Sorry if that was confusing but basically I like to be in charge in the kitchen!

Congrats on the cupcakes, they sounds great! I'm glad everyone enjoyed them, one day we will too.

Alana

FINALLY, I get back on the computer. It has been behaving very badly and would not connect to the internet. Had a very nice man from Geeks on Wheels come and fix it this morning, but had a dinner to do for 65 tonight so had to wait til now to come and visit. Have just caught up on heaps of diaries.

The last couple of days have gone really well. Hubby reckons he can see a difference but I still just see FAT when I venture a look in the mirror (which I dont do very often!) In fact for a VERY long time the only mirror in our bedroom was just big enough for me to see my head when I was drying my hair. Seriously!! I have put a slightly bigger one in but use it only for putting on makeup cos the only part of me I really like is my hair. It has taken me five years to grow, but I am hoping it only takes 6 months for me to shrink my body so I can look at the 'whole' body in the mirror without cringing. Of course to see the whole body I am going to have to get a much bigger mirror.

What a lot of waffle! LOL comes from being deprived of access for a couple of days.

Happy shrinking everyone. Tomorrow is the day I would usually take measurements but after last week I am not sure yet if I will give it another go. Others seem to lose lots of cm each week but I haven't done better than that first week of 7cms.

Andrea
