Re: Mum Chums Diary
Oh - and today I was major cranky - had my blood test and normally I'm in and out becos I go when they open and I'm the 1st 1 in. Today, I forgot to take my form so had to go to work to get it (I know where to find it there -lol) then go back again and by the time I arrived there were 1/2 doz people waiting. Then the 1st people in had some different procedure and they both took 1/2 hour. The man sitting beside me when we got inside said he's been coming 4 years and never seen it so slow. Another 2 "elderly" gents were chatting about being old and 1 of them said "I think we'll be ancient by the time we get out of here" - Had to laugh at that 1. When I finally arrived at work - late - the girl I work with is making so many mistakes - and really not pulling her weight. By lunch time I realised that previously I would have gone into an eating frenzy - out of frustration. I guess that was 1 good thing to be revealed. I knew I was an emotional eater but that really pulled me up. Had my lunch but there are plenty of biscuits and chocolates in the office that I could have attacked. (Having said that, I think I'd have my little cheer squad doing their best to stop me). Its nice to have encouraging workmates. Anyway - so much for not ever having anything to say lol. Will update again next week - hopefully in the 80s. I'd like to sprinkle some fairy dust around so the kgs just float off all of us. lol

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Hiya Mum Chum. Don't be down about the slow weight loss. I have had some times when I just hovered around a weight for what semed like weeks (like now when I am nearing my last couple of kilos!). Every bit off is progress. And if you reckon a kilo isn't impressive then go in to your pantry and pick up a kilo of flour or something else - it weighs quite a bit you know! And it is a kilo less that you are lugging around with you everyday. Hang in there - you can do it. And hopefully I will catch up with you at a Brissie get together.

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Phew - time gets away.
Did the weigh & measure thing on Wednesday as usual. Scales sat on 90kg. Thought I'd have another go & think thin thoughts and hopped on again. 90.2kg. drat - try again - and again- and again. Would you believe those scales were stuck on 90.2kg. So much for positive thinking lol. (and wearing the scales out). So near & yet so far. Last Friday week ago I went to a swearing in ceremony for my nephew who has just been accepted into the air force for his gap year. (2500 applicants, 116 accepted. pretty impressed). My brother in law commented that my facial features are becoming quite "sharp". Isn't it interesting how males see things. (He reassured me that it was a good thing lol) Then on Sunday at the markets, a man who I often chat & say hello to called me over & asked if I was losing weight - told me I look good. Once upon a time I would have been embarrassed by that, but I thanked him and left feeling good about myself. Think I also grew an inch as well. I enjoy my yoghurt & mango for breakfast but have been reading diaries & wodered if I should change. Soooo, as an experiment, I have, since Wednesday, been having egg for breakfast, and have dropped 1/2 kg since Wednesday. Highly unusual for me. Is it a coinicidence? I don't know, but am not moving my ticker till Wednesday to see if / how much more it drops. I will then go back to the yoghurt (to finish off what I have in the fridge anyway) and see what happens the following week. Its all very interesting. |

Hello Mum Chum!
Interesting reading about the change of breakfast and the effect it has had on you! Sounds like your body likes a bit of a mix up now and again to prompt it to do what it's supposed to! Your results so far are pretty impressive, so well done! Vee |

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Heya MC, wow getting so close to the 80s now! You're going great, glad to see you posting again!
As for the breakky thing, I was having yogurt every day until it started upsetting my stomach badly. Now I have a boiled egg and veg for breakky every day and I swear it's helping my losses. I've also started a few times a week mixing up the order of my meals, and have 'breakky' as my latest meal. Esp if I know I'll be eating dinner a bit later for some reason, I just have the egg and veg then instead of going to bed after biggest meal.

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Weekly update time - and down a whole 1kg, so not sure if the egg week really made a lot of difference. I think I may alternate with egg 1 day & yoghurt the next and see how that goes. I did enjoy the egg but had to be careful that I didn't have an extra cracker serve as I usually space them thru out the day & forgot that 1 was used at breakfast so that was my indulgence the 1st egg day. Oh well.
Had another weekend of family functions (meals of course) but they are all used to me bringing my own now. I think every one of my brothers in law (3) have now made comment about how well I have done. Its obvious that its obvious if that makes sense. lol - in fact I hear that my nephew didn't recognise me when he 1st saw me. I found that funny - cos the me inside is still the same me. I guess thats the part we have to get our head around / we ARE still the same - its just that the skinny me has been let out. (well I'm not skinny yet but at least I'm working on it - and certainly feeling it). Went thru my weight watcher book and its been about 16 years since I was last this weight. Can't believe how good I feel. I also compared my leg measurement yesterday and have lost 15cm off 1 leg. I can't believe it - altho the jeans I've worn to work this week would go no where near on. then 1 day I put them on but couldn't do them up. A while later I put them on, lay on the bed and did the zip up but couldn't breath - nearly made me sick lol. and now I'm actually wearing them. WOW. I have a few clothes I try on regularly - its always the bottom button that doesn't want to do up - but its getting closer. Also have a heap more to get rid of so will have to start bagging them to pass on. OH nearly forgot - DID YOU NOTICE I"VE HIT THE 80s. YAYyyyyy! When I started I thought I'd just be happy to get under 100kg - I've been there so long and my goal was soooo far away. Now I'm happy just to keep going - easiset diet I've ever been on - and the most rewarding. And I think my daily dose of forum certainly has contributed. I talk about it regularly. I'm so grateful for all the diaries, hints, recipes etc. on here. That has to be it for me for this week- got to get to work. Often think I don't have much to write about then ramble forever once I get started. I love it (the forum) |

Wooooooooooo hoooooooooooo!
An 80s girl! Congrats MC! It's an awesome feeling getting into clothes that you haven't worn for so long and it's especially awesome being the lowest weight in 16 years! That is quite an achievement! Well done! Vee |

I'm now not embarassed to tell people what I weigh! And you're totally right about the under 100, I was the same when I started - that was as far as I could possibly imagine! It was definately a big hurdle and then how quickly time flies and we're having an 80s party!! Your cm loss is amazinggg too, congrats to you... Now, surellyyyyy your hubby has noticed by now?? If not, take that poor man to an optometrist right away!!!

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Today was really really tempted to deviate on so many things. In fact probably everything that I looked at I thought - I wonder how much damage that would do. I raced in & bought my groceries - along with 1 apple which I then sat in the car till I'd finished eating. Phew - crisis averted.
I think its the 1st time that I have really had a struggle, as I have been so focussed. I have been struggling a bit since I read an email from the clinic the other night saying my 6 months is up. (well at the end of the month it is anyway). Oh wow - and I'm still not 1/2 way - boo hoo. Amazing how such a little thing can knock your emotions. I immediately emailed them back saying we need to talk. Fortunately I am on leave for the next 2 weeks so will squeeze it in there somewhere. Unfortunately - even tho I believe I am DF - I seem to be losing at a snails pace. Had cheese last night & the scales are up this morning - only the 2nd time I've had normal cheese so certainly can't make a habit of it. (Also swapped my meals around to see if that would make a difference - looks like the cheese put paid to that being obvious). On a brighter note - many years ago - (can't remember how many) I took my wedding ring off because it was too tight, and swapped my friendship ring on the other hand to my wedding ring finger. It is now time to go hunting for my wedding ring again as the friendship ring (which was also getting tight) now slides on and off my finger very easily. Its just little steps, but they all add up to mean a big difference. |

Well mum by my reckoning you have still lost on avg over a kg a week. Nothing to sneeze at. I am slow to but seem to be picking up. Have a good 2 weeks off.

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Thanks Bronnie - I know - and I've given myself a bit of a talking to - Took longer than 6 months to get to be the weight I was - and by losing slowly I'd like to think its permanent loss - and I have no loose skin etc - which you see on the biggest loser when they get to the end after what seems to be fast losses, so its all good.
Even if it takes 12 months - thats 1 kg per week - so be it. I'm probably out to set a record of some sorts lol, but I was hoping to finish before then thats for sure. |

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Hi MC
It's funny how those insecurities/anxiousness can send us right back to food if we let them! Well done for averting it and staying strong! Slow losses have their own benefits, like giving your head time to catch up with the new slim body! That helps in the maintenance of the new slim you! Enjoy your 2 weeks off and keep smiling and losing! Vee |

Re: Mum Chums Diary
Thanks heaps Vee. I keep looking at the post graduates losses and they seem to be melting off. Then I wonder if it happened as quickly for them the first time or is it that their body wants to get back there as quickly as possible. lol
I think if I didn't feel so great it would be a lot harder - and really - you have to eat something every meal so it may as well be Cohens, lol. Onward & downward!!! |
