Re: Ed's Diary
Thanks Gals,
Not much to report - I forgot to put my cm in last week so here they are - 4 weeks total loss: 50cm exactly. I am begining to feel it and notice i don't get puffed anymore (as fatty boomba did going up the stairs) and am now in my "old" normal 10kg range. DW asked why i needed a reward for being on a diet when losing weight should be enough - just couldnt understand, and then two days later asked when i wanted to go bowling. Havn't been yet but will sometime. I had an email from the clinic saying that although you loose weight in the first few weeks, the fat burning only starts on day 21...........??? This was the first i'd heard of this. Any one else have any further input on this statement? In my 3rd week i had a much smaller loss (1.3kgs compared to the 5.5 and 3kgs in wk 1 &2) and just thought it was slowing down but then wk 4 (ie after 21days) i had a bigger loss. Yes there are cycles of weight loss/ size loss but it would have been nice to know that a 'kick start' after 3 weeks might happen. I'm trying to have a few days off work each week while i can untill the dreaded students return and i'll be flatout so have not been on here as much as before. On my days "off" i have been trying to get some fencing done for DW's horse that we need to pick up and some fencing for my goats. I have Dairy goats and in a couple weeks i will be flat tack during kidding/ feeding babies/ milking / making the best goat milk soap/ AND working fulll time and making sure i help out with DD. Busy busy times a coming. Oh - and being organinsed enough to stay on Cohens. No way i'm getting off this now. In the beggining i used the "well it cost $$$$lots to start this and i'm not going to waste a dollar" to now that i have had a great loss and that is the motivation. Mum asked the other day how much i have lost - even though i see her most days she either hadn't noticed or just didn't ask. My boss returned from 3 weeks leave and noticed too so that was good. Well that was more of a rant than i intended. Hope everybody is going well and feels super motivated. Cheers, Ed |

Re: Ed's Diary
ed
i have checked my emails and i dont appear to have got said message- i am presuming they are talking about the early consolidation that happens when diets change which results in fluid loss etc. but i think you can assume 'some' of that 13 kg is fat fat fat buddy good going cheers mark

Re: Ed's Diary
Hi Ed,
Quote:
I've heard similar for the last 3 years on here. Week 1 is a lot of water weight, Week 2 can be pretty good too, Week 3 (and even Week 4, for some) can be marginal - but, for many, things get a whole lot more "regular" from Week 4 on - and many log "around the same loss" on a 4 week basis (after Month 1). Not so many enjoy a "kickstart" in Week 4 - it might come down to you being 1. younger, and 2. male - both of which are in your favour. Keep on being DFree, and you'll find your monthly losses from now will stay somewhat similar - whatever that is for you. Expect, though, that it WON'T reflect Month 1 - more likely 50% - 60% of Month 1. In your case, that might be nearer 7Kg a month (which are VERY good numbers, but not for everyone). Meanwhile, just keep on, Ed - you're doing fine !!! Koh

Re: Ed's Diary
Thanks Mark and Koh for the helpful advice - I was just curious not concerned - I'm with you Jazzi: Be it fat or whatever it's all good.
This is the quote from the clinic email if you are interested: Once the third week has been completed then your body really starts to “burn fat cells”. Research details indicate that the body’s metabolism rate starts to increase from the 4th day of a program. Day 21 is the actual day that fat burning starts, as you lose a lot of water initially. Today is the last day of week 5 - weigh in/ measure tomorrow!!!! I't fantastic that the time just seems to fly by and, apart from the whole 'eating thing', not doing anything 'extra' is showing such great results. I do find that on my busy (physical) work days the loss seems bigger. I'm starting to swim in some of my clothes now, even the flannies i had to get 2 weeks ago (3 sizes smaller than normal) are getting big. Love it. Cheers to all you losers , Ed |

Re: Ed's Diary
there are two things here- 1/ while the research is still unclear it appears that the number of fat cells you have remains relatively stable , hence losing fat involves simply shrinking cells ( only liposuction has been shown definitively to reduce the number of fat cells)
and 2/ the cohens program is designed to modify your hormones , HGH Serontonin and insulin. It is likely therefore that some stabilisation will have occurred by wk 4 and the metabolisation of fat stores would proceed more smoothly/regularly hope this helps p.s. on your busy days make sure you have adequate water and salt to compensate for expiration/perspiration effects cheers mark

Re: Ed's Diary
Ed, I'm truly sorry about your dog. I have 2 (here's one of my fave pics of them) under 3yo girls (a tall staffy-cross, Pippa, and a medium terrier, Molly). They're my babies and, I'll be incredibly upset when their time comes. I'm glad I have two.
In the meantime, great news with your weight loss. That's excellent.
